The actors are good sports for playing these roles.
By today's standards, ppl may think they are silly, but this was as cutting edge in the 40s as Star Wars was in the 70s, or James Cameron's Aliens in the 90s.
Plus, many of the high-tech concepts were fantastic at that time. Who knew that many of the ideas would truly one day exist? Wonderful! Too bad China and Russia will now dominate the space program though.
