  • Disgusting.

  • 0:56 is especially creepy, "much as they did on that fateful morning." the people who made this commercial are sick.

  • Why does the statue of liberty look like a penis?

  • "It's the first time ever 2 seperate numbers have been used to add up to the full 20$ face value" That is extremely retarded....

  • I'll be able to buy a Coke if I ever go to Liberia.

  • well I did get taken on it it looks like nothing more than a thin piece of cardboard with tin foil around it with the outlines of the wtc,,,I should ask for my money back but I know its not going to happen BUYERS BEWARE,,,

  • I got taken on this BUYERS BEWARE!!

  • The guys who made this are so going to Hell. Seriously, a shitload of innocent peole die, these people make a profit off of it, and they rub salt in the wounds of the family members of those who died.

  • cough*ripoff*cough

  • I wanna hit the announcer with one of thse commerative dollar/paper weights

  • I have two of these, a silver and a gold plate. What's wrong with it? :(

  • @mcrfuse 1) they are tacky 2) they have no "value" to anyone but the dummies that bought it and people that sold them to you (and that value was lost once your credit card was dinged) 3) don't wash them as the plating might come off when you rub the dust off of them. mind you the US Mint product for the commemorative medal isn't too far behind, but at least you could melt that down and have something of value.

  • @mcrfuse for starters, 20 liberian dollars is about 27 cents, so its basically worthless

  • @mcrfuse

The silver playing is as thin as possible.

  • when the guys who made this die, i wanna make a tacky + rude "memorial" bill of it.

like if they're murdered, a bloody knife on there. heart attack, an exploding heart.

    just so we "never forget."

  • @taffysaur But how would you get a giant silver $20 bill with an engraving of a testicular cancer tumor on it past the censors?

  • It just seems these guys are one step short of pulling a cake and noise-maker out and yelling "Happy September 11th everybody!"

Seriously, WTF is wrong with these people?"

  • hahaaha this is soooooooo low

  • Truly awful. How low will people go?

  • 83 people did not miss out on this historic offer.

  • Even the .999 silver ore is ashamed to have been made into this form.

  • satisfaction garanteed???!!! I wonder how much satisfaction can a stupid silver bill with actually NO value as currency can get me...

  • Have I just stepped into some sort of parallel universe?

  • i hate these stupid comercials

  • Comment removed

  • @DontEatMyCat i think we all do.

  • This company is just sick. Many people lost their lives that day and many men and women are serving there country to prevent this from happening ever again and these people want to make a quick buck, how disgusting

  • This just makes me sick

  • So I have to go to Liberia if I want to spend this piece of crap?

  • Bling BLANG!

  • I NEED!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They ripped off a song from Metroid for this commercial. No wonder it doesn't air anymore, that and the fact that it's old as hell now.

  • yeah back when these commercials were playing i didn't really understand why they were making these. it's cool to commemorate moments in history but it's not cool to make a profit from tragedy. unless they gave the $ to a 9/11 families or victims charity, i find it unethical

  • lib 4 life 9/11 we liberians can never 4 get dat one dere oh

  • Comment removed

  • libean currency ow that hurts my spirit

  • How dare they. A slap in the face of every honest US citizen and the rest of humanity as well.

The assholes have made trillions from murdering their own citizens and they're milking them for more with this crap.

  • i just called the place is still taking orders , lol

    seriously

  • You mean I haven't missed out on this historic offer?!? Oh thank god, I guess that limit of five per person prevented them from being snatched up by some unscrupulous commemorative currency-hoarding scumbag.

  • That dwarfs the hell out of my other money! Fuck yea!

  • Wow...way to milk a tragedy indeed.

  • 20 Liberian Dollars = 30 cents

    I lol'd

  • What a load of shit.

  • .999 silver leaf.

And the rest is radium. :D

  • i saw this immediately following a daily show commercial break and at the time i thought it was a hilarious joke...then i saw it on cnn.

  • if you order now we'll and in the commemorative dead firefighter :D

  • They could have taken it one step further and engrave planes flying into the buildings, or little dots to commemorate the people who jumped.

  • A Paris Hilton Coin.

  • Toooooooo funny!

  • How much exactly is $20 Liberian dollars ?

I cry tears of laughter for whoever paid money for this

  • $0.31

  • I hear Bush wanted one of these and he went to the Library thinking it was they who were making them.

  • They should make a 7 dollar bill to commemorate WTC7. I mean a 7 dollar bill would be less absurd than a 47 story building falling in less than 7 seconds... supposedly from FIRE alone. I've seen wooden structures survive FIRE better than that fucking building. We WILL NEVER forget, that BUSH knocked down tha towers.

  • First come first serve? Gosh, only a bunch of old people will buy this, and give it to their grandchildren as Christmas gifts.

  • I F*cking lol'd. No one is tasteless enough to but this, even in the worst parts of America.

  • 9 + 11 = 20 o.o WHY does this even exist? If you bought this thing, I'm sorry, because you deserve to be ripped off.

  • wtf why not just include the explosion in the note as well.

  • "Box sold separately for $9,60" at 1:142-46. WTF?

And the announcer is WAY too happy...

  • Sry for the typo, 1:42-46.

  • The ad says it's being sold for face value: 20 dollars. Well 20 Liberian dollars is ~32 (US) cents. I tried to buy my limit of 5 for $1.60 but alas, they wouldn't do it :(

  • I got one of these for christmas.

    No. Seriously.

I guess this is what it feels like to be flabbergasted.

  • this is SICK

  • This commercial is just disrespectful to all those that died in the Towers. I can't believe some tasteless fucks are actually trying to turn a profit off of something so horrific. When I saw this commercial, I wanted to kick my TV screen in. Just thinking about it makes me want to punch somebody. Calling it "memorabilia" like it's something to be celebrated sets something off in my head. Sorry for the rant, it's just that I have family on Long Island, and I was worried for them when it happened.

  • this crap gets by but they RAID and

confiscated the Ron Paul Liberty Dollars

what a f-ing scam our government has become.

The freedom Tower reminds me of the skyscraper in "FREEJACK" with Emilio Estivez Renaiee Russo and Mick Jagger

  • confusing..........

  • waste of money.

  • 1:01

    AT FULL SCREEN.....now!

and lets NOT let the Freedom Tower, replace WHATEVER you just saw when you full-screened

    1:01-1:04!

  • If the money (from those who actually buy this) was going towards charity or those affected by 9/11 or to fix up ground zero, I'd be like oh this is nice.. but this is just stupid.

  • yeah, to me what makes it most inane is the use of "two separate numbers", like it's a big deal. Its a collector's piece and isn't in circulation like a regular dollar bill. The twin towers aren't really in perspective, so it appears that one is taller than the other. In addition the Freedom Tower on the reverse side has become a source of controversy.

  • I'd like to go to Liberia someday and see their vending machines with giant coin slots for limited edition soaring eagle half-dollars, and go to their markets and watch someone pay for their purchases with two 9/11 twin towers twenties and get a handful of Dale Earnhardt medallions as change.

  • I just saw the commecial on TV and decided to look up the exchange... $1.00 US money equals 63.ish Liberian money. Value wise definately a rip off, but if it was legit it is a neat idea. When I saw '.999 silver leaf' in the ad I was suspicious.

  • Today, History is being made! A bunch of a**holes decided to make a phony 9/11 commemorative bill, which is worth only 32 cents USD. This offer will not be in stores, as it is clearly a scam. Send your hard earned cash for this tacky trinket.

  • How about the "strict limit of five per caller?" What a transparent attempt to make it appear the bills are in high demand. This company was actually under investigation by the New York attorney general's office regarding an unrelated scam and came to some agreement to avoid prosecution, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Can't wait to receive mine. Bought one for my grandmother who's birthday is September 11th... way before September 11th was an infamous day. You alarmist wackos say what you will BUT I am gonna be in the running for *GRANDSON OF THE YEAR as soon as she receives this from me... awesome!

  • Or, be written right out of the will.

  • Your pubes?

  • It's silver leaf, not solid silver. Between the negligible value of the bill and the light-as-air silver shavings they've glued to it, you still wouldn't have enough to buy so much as a Big Mac.

  • 20 Liberian dollars is equal to 31 American cents. I HATE U LIBERIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • "On the front, the frosted twin towers stand out against a mirror-like background, much as they did in the gleaming sunline of that fateful morning."

    Reaction 1. Palm --> forehead

Reaction 2. WHAT 10th GRADER WROTE THAT CHEESY, CRINGE INDUCING LINE? *VOMIT!*

Who would actually buy this crap?

And bravo to submitter for the phrase, "exceptionally tasteful"! well played!

  • I LOVE the "face value" of $20. it's "$20 legal LIBERIAN currency" $20 Liberian isn't even $1 US. They are really preying on the elderly and the not-in-the-know of the exchange

  • Just wait...the "Falling Man" commererative bill will come out next. I right now am watching a show called " The Passionate Eye" here in Canada. I am watching the episode of trying to determine who the falling man was from the 911 disaster. In between this on commercial breaks...this fucking commercial comes on. Who ever own this company ... who ever thought that it was a good idea to run this commericial is sick. I also am dissapointed in the CBC for accepting the sponsorship of this commercial

  • Okay now we know who caused 9/11... it was the fucking Liberians.

  • This Isn't AMERICAN for those of you on here who think it is. It's LIBERIAN currency and non legal tender. Even at the end the commercial says in fine print it has nothing to do with the US Mint or any US Agency.

This has to be one of the most tackiest awful disgusting thing to come out of the tragedy, and a disgusting way to commemorate 3000+ dead.

  • I'm glad someone posted this piece of shit. People should call the number on a daily basis and harass these assholes?

Noncirculating liberian legal tender? Dwarfs US currency? What the fucking FUCK?

  • That is pretty...and also pretty ridiculous.

  • How can we forget when you keep making shit like this to rip off people?

  • can anyone tell me why the US government hasn't put a stop to this. it's a f_cking insult to the US. who is getting the profits? is it new york? the families of the victims or is it the liberian government?

  • Liberian government -.-

  • None of the above. It's the National Collector's Mint or whatever they're called, which is not actually a mint, just a company that comes up with ideas for these, pays a few bucks to the Liberian gov't for the rights to use their name and then buys infomercial time

  • LOL! Because people are going to "forget".

I hate that stupid "never forget", phrase.

  • Yeah, it's about time that we forget it.

  • NEVER FORGET.

But don't dwell on it forever.

  • People forgot about two years after it happened.

  • I'm just curious but has anyone bought one of these or know of anyone who's bought one? Someone mentioned earlier about the weight of this thing. I'd be real curious of that. It's got to be plactic covered with a thin thin layer of silver leaf.

  • Available at Face value? A quick check of conversion rates reveals that 20 LRD=0.31 USD as of today. Who would buy this garbage? They're made in China by a US-based company and are "legal Liberian tender." I'm sure if I went into a store in Monrovia and attempted to buy something with this, I'd be laughed under the table...then shot in the head by a gang of rebels. Please...this is stupid

  • What a tacky piece of shit.

  • Absolutely disgusting. Worst of all is that in the past decade the only governmental agencies that have not become more invasive to citizens are the SEC who have let history repeat itself with the S&L going under and all the AGs who have completely given up in enforcing truth in advertising laws. A lot of American companies blatantly lie about giving away free merchandise now because they know the old bait and switch is now considered good advertising.

  • I've never seen anything quite so vile. Talk about blood money?

  • I remember this commercial. I'm glad I haven't seen it on TV in awhile.

  • wow they're making money off of what happened on 9/11

  • I just saw this on TV and had to check if I was just going crazy. So fucking tacky. 9+11=$20!

  • I just saw this today, wedged at the end of an old Jon Stewart stand-up special. I couldn't believe it...

  • "omg, i'm going to prove how american i'm by buying the crappy thing"

really, who ever made this stupid thing should be kicked in the balls

  • Nothing screams AMERICAN like a blatant attempt to cash in on a tradegy.

  • i flagged it for shocking/disgusting content

  • I don't really have a problem with it being flagged, and it really wouldn't bother me if they pulled this down, but you're talking about something being shown several times an hour every afternoon on multiple TV channels. Your energy would be better spent emailing the FCC about it. Few children - if any - are going to run across it here.

  • I hate how they were bullying the U.S. 20 dollar bill about its size. =(

  • "...will never be released for circulation"

    hmm.. I wonder why...

This commercial is horrific. It's just as bad as that 9/11 postcard I saw years ago. While we're at it, let's make commemorative coins for Katrina. We can show people drowning on the back of it.

  • Well put man

  • SHITE

  • im buying one

  • Because thinking this product is tacky and distasteful is supporting terrorism, right? Enjoy your fail, fucktard.

  • dude, what the f---?

  • why do you hate freedom?

  • xlegionx, are you part of the WE'LL PUT A BOOT IN YER ASS crowd?

  • I've got to be honest with you. I don't even remember what I wrote here and now I can't find my comment. I was most likely trolling though because that's all I do on youtube.

  • It looks kinda cool but that's one shitty ass ad.

  • Things that make this ad something special:

    -cheesy inspirational music

    -"Liberian Legal Tender" (LOL)

    -9+11=20 OH SHI 9/11 CONSPIRACY

    -".999 pure silver-leaf"

-This sentence: "On the front, the frosted towers stand out against a mirror-like background, much as they did in the gleaming sunlight of that fateful morning"

What a garbage piece of advertising.

  • agreed, the people who made this commercial should be shot

  • Let me clarify that a bit:

This coin is 20 Liberian dollars. If you look at the exchange rate, you will find that 20 Liberian dollars won't buy you a single postage stamp in America.

The fact that they exploit the 9/11 tragedy is an insult to our entire nation, and CAN NOT STAND.

This is nothing more than a big money SCAM. They are selling something worth literally nothing for $24.95. I see people asking how much silver is in it. NONE. The in is probably plastic - covered in silver LEAF.

  • this isn't the first time they have done this

  • I urge everyone reading this to contact your state's trade commission as well as the Federal Trade Commission to express your *outrage* at this national insult.

I've been seeing this commercial many times a day for the past few weeks. I want to alert you all to the fact that this is LIBERIAN currency and is NOT redeemable in ANY way for $20 American dollars. The ad is truthful but highly MISLEADING when it refers to this coin as "legal tender". The ACTUAL VALUE of this coin is approx. $0.30 US.

  • 'No fake'. Right....like you can't get scammed from TV. I agree with propheticlivity, this ad is misleading, and i'd say intentionally so; at the end of the day you'll get what's advertised, nothing at all like what you thought you were going to get, unless you listened real careful. It is an insult, a preying insult, and i think the tv channels airing it should receive our *outrage*. Sad thing is, i think there is a real market for the real thing. has anyone bought this?, and is satisfied?

  • Well, did you expect them to just sell you the equivalent of a $20 USD collectible when you're actually paying $20 USD?

Why even bother creating them? It wouldn't even be profitable. The ad is honest. People deserve what they get if they open their wallets to TV ads without paying attention.

And yes, it is very tacky. I just have no sympathy for stupid people.

  • Dude, that's like $1 worth of silver.

  • How many people actually buy this trash to make themselves feel more patriotic?

  • lol probably thousands, the same ones that want war all the time.

  • The truely sad thing is that you're correct about that.

  • im sure i am,the people let their government take away their freedoms while they create a fake threat (bin laden,TERROR,muslims, whatever)all the while flag sales go through the roof because they are patriots and wars need fighting!in a few generations we'll evolve and learn to live in peace,or die in a fireball.

  • another great example of exploiting tragedy for profit

  • "that fateful morning"

  • Torc0: this is reel not a spoof.

  • Yes, I know. I *thought* it was a spoof for about the 90 seconds until they threw the phone number up.

  • BULLETIN

    BULLETIN

    BULLETIN

  • I would like to meet the people responsible for this and collectively cockpunch them all. Including the narrator. Especially the narrator.

  • I'm gonna take 2 of them and shove one up Bush's ass and the other up Cheney's ass

  • What the fuck, America!

  • What do you mean it's fake?

    This is a real commercial.

They are really selling this worthless, tasteless garbage.

  • It's sold by the Liberians, not the Americans

  • What do you mean sold by the Liberians?

The company making this and selling it and doing everything involved with it are Americans. It is only "Liberian currency" because the company is paying the Liberian government (who will take any money for anything) for it to be so.

  • This is no fake. I have seen the commercial on TV the past few nights. How much does this thing weigh? It never states how much silver there is.

  • It reminds me of all the Titanic merchandise now. My mom and I went to the Titanic exhibit and they had a gift shop at the end. One of the things they were selling was a pen with one of those little water displays at the top. There was a lifeboat that moves up and down, and in the background the Titanic is sinking. WTF? I asked my mom "How long until they have one of those with a little moving airplane that crashes into the WTC?"

  • I wonder if I could call them up and ask if I could send 30 cents as payment. Maybe throw in another 5 cents for shipping and handling. Don't fall for this scam, people!

  • Whats to commemorate? Our air defence falures?

  • Haha! This is genius! Nothing is funnier than unintentional satire :D

And lighten up guys, you have to laugh at how ridiculous this is.

  • I'm embarrassed for everyone who has anything to do with this piece of shit. D:

  • I just saw this as a commercial on the Speed channel. It is now offered at 20 USD. They dropped the price from 39 USD. I guarentee that a lot of dumbass people will misinterpret this as a "great deal." They will think these are incredible collectors items and buy 100 USD worth (they are limited to 5 per buyer). So many dumbass people in the USA. They will buy them with a credit card as usual and end up paying the 100 USD off over 10 years. Cost them over

    1000 USD for 5 X .32= $ 1.60 HA!

  • $20 Liberian = $0.30 USD

  • This is disgusting.

  • agreed, I am pretty offended by this, I had family that was killed in the towers, all thanks to Bush and his Cronies

  • I also love how they highlight that it's the "first time ever" that two numbers have been used to add up to 20 on a 20 dollar bill. 9+11 lol.

  • Whoever wrote that "frosted towers..." line deserves an emmy.

  • An Emmy enema is more like it.

  • Fuck this idea, fuck the guy talking and fuck that silver leaf bullshit. What the hell is wrong with people...

  • Wow.. just wow.

  • UG!!!

  • UG?

    Who's ug?

    JOKES!

    UG!!!

  • This was on UG? Shit I guess I need to get back into the Pit. Or not. No, fuck that.

  • Lol the Liberian mint what a fucking scam.

  • No, no, not the Liberian mint - the "National Collector's Mint".

Which is another thing that makes it misleading. I wouldn't be surprised to learn the World Bank is behind this, just to further inflate the worthless US dollar (which is still worth hundreds of times more than the Liberian dollar).

  • So godamn disrespectful, I know the dude who is doing the voice is cunt.

  • That's just plain wrong.

  • "...much as they did in the gleaming sunlight of that fateful morning"

..what is it about this statement in particular that I find so wrong?

whatever the case.. epic fail indeed.

  • How nice. They're trying to make money off a national disaster. "Historic offer" = We make money off the dead.

  • 20 Liberian Dollar = 0.31746 US Dollar

    That's almost 32 cents....rock on!

  • And I thought those press-a-penny machines were a ripoff!

  • whoever thought of this is fucking scum

  • hah Attack of the Show gave this an "epic fail", i think it deserves much worse than that.
