how much juice does the v8 go through? im almost 18 and when i get a job that pays well im aiming to get a defender but confused between the v8 or a diesel..... obviously id prefer the v8 but the diesels fuel officiency is much better..
Hey, i was wondering if someone could explain about locking the differential to me. (Sorry, I'm only 16 so I'm a bit of a mechanics noob). So when climbing a steep ascent I can understand why you would want to set the gears to a low range, but surely having the diff open would be beneficial because it would allow each wheel to get a different amount of torque from the engine, stopping the wheels from spinning. Why would you want to lock the diff? Sorry if this is a really stupid question.
@robr186ify Basically the differential in the axle allows the wheels to turn independently but in the same direction. Trouble is due to is construction, if one wheel loses traction it'll still keep spinning and all the power will go to that wheel and the wheel on the ground with the traction won't turn. Locking diffs just makes sure that the two wheels have to turn an equal amount, the theory is that the wheel with traction will bite and you're not just wasting power. I hope that makes sense!
@didyoubringabeermate I've got 30mm wheel spacers on the truck so it just about clears the arms now. It doesn't touch the arch unless it's fully articulated.

Hey mate,
Do you get any wheel rub due to width of tyres on the turn?
