@yizongk The illusion is that ALL the pattern pieces are the SAME color: dark gray. Yes, even the ones that look light grey. Brusspup cut out a "light" square and a "dark" square to show that they are both the same color. Does that make more sense now? Good day.

Guys, it's because of the shadow, the top one is drew lighter to perceive the light and the bottom one is darker because it's in the shadow, and all the dark ones around it are also in the shadow so they're even darker

Are you nuts? you switched the Lighter gray tile with the Darker gray tile... so Yes it is two shades!

Try switching the Dark gray tile with other Dark gray tile, then you'll see they're different! Less party (the bracelet on your right wrist) and more school!!!
