What a load of shit. RT i'm not gay, no really i'm not D has sold us out to gain favour with Americans. The flavour has been completely changed, they get it a week before us (along with everyone else on Earth) and we get it censored. As well as an all American cast and setting. MD is shit and the Italian vampire mobsters as the main enemy> Fuck you RTD, just fuck you. P.S. if you are British you are still paying for all of this crap through the license fee. Have a nice day.
Oh and same for the whole emphasising Jack's homosexuality thing as well (john barrowman and another dude naked - creepy), given the legalisation of gay marriages in NY recently. Oh and finally it pissed me off that the congressman who was working for the drug company had a southern accent - its using the same old 'big fat rich ol' texans snuggling up to bad corporations' stick that democrats like to beat republicans with. I live in Britain (and I am British) - and even to me it seems political.
right this is kind of pissing me off - miracle day started off with a good premise about people not dying, but having just watched the first 3 episodes it appears as though they've decided to go extremely political with it. examples - the main 'villain' is a pharmaceutical company - which given the fact that healthcare is currently a major deal in the US right now (and it seems to be taking a highly left wing view - i.e. private enterprises are baaaad, kids) seems a lot like political commentary
Wtf why torchwood not bastardin stars original it's BBC duh. Why the fuck do America have this now it's our thing, fuck this is better that dr who and what do we do fuckin give it away smart move russell smart move brain dead prick
you fucking what Starz??? that is an insult this is not their product i have the first 3 series's on dvd all the work was done in the uk by people within the BBC now im not bashing the USA but im just outraged that they are claiming this as their own creation have some fucking decentcy for fuck sake i would agree with papertimelord saying russell needs to come to his senses if they are going to do that to his work
and it'll be on the 8th day of the 7th month for the US....
can't get the date right...
just noticed the deluge of anti American TV rage. UK Who/Torchwood fans don't hate America, we just hate your wanky TV networks claiming UK stuff as their own.
I advise any Briton watching this to download it and not show any support. It will be shown in America, Canada and Australia a week before us. When we do finally get it, it will be an edited down version of the one shown everywhere else on Earth. Not to mention that our tax money funded just under half of it. Vote with your wallet and don't buy the dvd.
Im a tad concerned. The uk trailer on he bbc has been shown tonight. we get it 14th July and America gets it 6 days before. Nice to know that a joint project which was spawned in the uk gets "sloppy seconds" thanks bbc...
@theantinatalist yes i know. but i was having a bad day then i found out about this. BUt i do like america. I love their history and everything else (not Sarah Pahlin)
FUCK STARZ AND FUCK AMERICA ALWAYS HAVE TO CLAIM IT'S THEIRS!!! TORCHWOOD BELONGS TO BRITAIN!!! IT'S LIKE IF WE BRITS WOULD STEAL GLEE FROM THEM!!!! (f.y.i i do like america otherwise it's just here i go bonkers)Fingers crossed they won't claim Doctor who and jammy dogers
@CressidaTussaud Holy fuck. Torchwood is one thing but jammy dodgers is a whoooollllle other. I think I'll blow them up if they steal jammy dodgers too. >:O Joking. I hope Russell T Davies sees sense and comes back to Britain with the show.
Torchwood did perfectly fine with the BBC. Anyway, Torchwood Miracle Day is not just starz, i's also BBC, so why call it a Starz orginal series. GET IT RIGHT!
Ive washed my hands of torchwood ever since RTD sold us out for 'STARZ'', But just to let you all know, ITS IN ITS FUCKING 4TH SERIES OF A BRITISH TV SHOW, STARZ DID NOT CREATE THIS SHOW, SO THOSE FAT ASSES SHOULD STFU !
I love how they've given no info on the characters and like children of the earth, they've left it suspensful, and i love the earth-bomb, time's running out? like something big will happen
will you guys stop saying it's a StarzOriginal production,, how can it be an 'original' production when it's the 4th series.. 1st 3 series being made in England..
will you guys stop saying it's a Starz production,, how can it be an 'original' production when it's the 4th series.. 1st 3 series being made in England..
Im confused. Is this going to come out in America first then since its 'an original starz production'? Or will it come out the same time in England? Since normally i have to wait months to watch it on TV if it comes out in America first (like with Dexter)
Guys, chill out. They're not saying Torchwood is an original production, but the Miracle Day miniseries IS. The BBC still owns the IP, it's just that Starz is making Miracle Day and it is an original production by them.
Everyone take a chill. I've concerns about an Americanized version as well but I saw an interview with Julie Gardner who stated "At heart, the show remains the same...we haven't been asked to change it, we haven't been asked to be American, whatever that means." Barrowman stated "the heart of the show is the same...we're moving on to another page in the history of Torchwood and it's going to be bigger and better." Keeping my skepticism to a minimum, I hope for a great season in 'Miracle Day'.
@magikalme if its meant for Americans its gonna be so different, I hope not but americans generally will take something british (or from anywhere) and change it so that it its crap
Children of Earth was a hit for the BBC, was it not? I'm surprised they'd let Torchwood go. Then again, between the Season 2 finale, and what happened in CoE, RTD pretty much dismantled the show anyway.
Plus, I thought Miracle Day was gonna be a co-production with Starz and the BBC? What happened with that?
@slitheenplanet Does the 8th count for Canada too? Cause on the Space channel, they had a commercial about the movies and TV Shows that would be on Space over the summer and they showed clips from Torchwood and the announcer person said that Torchwood Miracle day would be on Space too... but they neglect to mention what date...
Starz? WHAT? TORCHWOOD IS BRITISH, not stupid American. Sometimes I wish Canada maintained its British ties a bit more than with the US... Americans just ruin everything for us...
a starz orginal series? WHAT? TORCHWOOD is an original series of BBC - the BRITISH BROADCASTING COMPANY! it is not and will never be an original starz production. it's already on season four smart ones. i hate starz. they're always trying to steal stuff from bbc. first they create a rip-off of merlin, and they claim that torchwood belongs to them? i feel proud to be Canadian. damn americans.
A starz original series?! FUCK OFF! I'm seriously worried America will ruin Torchwood, they managed to fail miserably at making their own versions of Skins and Being Human, some of the most popular British TV shows.
@qwertyz16 erm, rtd made it, you know, guy who created torchwood, so if rtd is still producer, then america wont ruin. anyway, im american and that insults me, so give us some respect and say at least they tried to bring back doctor who back in '96
@kylephantom4 i dont think its a very good argument to say that america at least tried to bring doctor who back in 96 seeing as in the uk doctor who is currently in its 6 series since it came back and is constantly growing in popularity.....
I'm seriously worried about this new season. They've killed off so many of the main characters. I'm hoping it's going to turn out better then Primeval (cos they did the same, but it didn't turn out too well, but is getting better)
@answermachine Don't worry, America is like that fat kid in your class. Eventually, all you have shall be swollowed up by him. Seems 'WHO' is going that way too.
@answermachine It could have been worse, They might have replaced the original actors with Americans, and remade the whole thing like they did with Life on Mars... Why did we let them do that?
@answermachine haha thats what i said, its like when doctor who was filmed in america for 2 episodes it was suddenly theres pathetic....we own the good shows :P
@answermachine In marketing, they refer to a series as original if they are the first and only company to broadcast it IN THEIR REGION. It's an american Starz original series, and a British BBC original series. Oh and please spread the word, I'm sick of trollers interrupting conversations with "Screw you starz!", even though starz is a bit bold not to add 'in america' at the end.
@answermachine Correction it says 'series' and it's true it is their series but not their show because they put in all the money but that's more or less the only input apart from the new characters/actors (which are pretty famous) & American locations... everything else they've kept the same. Which I think it's better and Torchwood keeps getting better and better as well, whether it's being Americanized or not because I love all their dramas like Prison Break, 24, Supernatural, Dexter, Lost etc.
