Leaving a Legend - Stanley Drucker, clarinetist

I am entirely jealous. If I have any idol for Clarinet, it would be Stanley Drucker; that amazing tone - that even though I disagree I've been told I have a similar tone to him- that surpasses anything else I've heard. Skill, tone, and principle clarinetist for the New York Philharmonic for over 50 years? Bragging rights if I might say. If I could tongue that fast, my tongue would hug itself. It really is a sad thought for him to have retired.

Nobody on this planet has a greater legato and smooth technique than Stanley Drucker. And by no means least, he's an outstanding musician. I met him at a punk rock concert his daughter was singing in and was in awe all night long.

The result was a perfect balance to create the perfect legato on the clarinet. You do that and you have mastered the clarinet. I studied with Mr. Russianoff for four years and are the best four years of my life.

Stanley Drucker is one of the greatest clarinet players to have ever been born. He personifies Russianoff conceptualizations of how the instrument is to be played. Mr. Russianoff brought two schools of thought on clarinet playing to the middle. The Bonade on one end and Bellison school on the other.

Stanley is amazing. And don't criticize other people klarinetta. Unless of course it is constructive, in which in this case it is not.

Not my cup of tea. And I don't have to defend that. Just my personal taste. I hope Youtube allows me to say that but unfortunately the Clarinet BBoard doesn't.
