In fact, an overwhelming majority of the Falklands residents voted to remain British last survey in December 2011. In fact, The Falklands existed even before Argentina became a country from Spain. So if there is contention it would be between Spain and UK and not argentina. After Argentina deliberately attacked The Falklands the people there despised them and desire to be free from them.

@ThatKidnamedSam The Falklands war was a war protecting the people of the islands from the argies colonial thinking. The people did not want to be argentinian or to have tyheir land to be argentianian. They wanted to be British, so we protected their freedom.

@DoNotLaughAtMe Its a generally weak republican argument. Canada DOES NOT and have NEVER paid the Queen for her services. Thats why we have a Commonwealth and not an empire. In fact, since the Queen is the head of state, Canada does not spend anymore for a head of state. As a comparison, in the UK the cost of the Queen's expenses are much less than that of the presidents of germany, US and empereur sarkozy. Being a constitutional monarchy all expenses have to pass through Parliament :)

In fact, Obama's "beast" presidential car and Sarkozy's security cost more than this whole visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. And the Queen cannot spend unless there is a consent by the Parliament (house of commons and house of lords). The United Kingdom spends much less than republics like France, Germany, Italy, Greece, and US.
