I think Lee is a great comedian, but I actually prefer his sitcom to his stand up. His stand up is good, but he sometimes makes mistakes or doesnt quite get a joke right, but his sitcom is flawless and an absolute hoot! =)
@Phoenix1664 Isn't that the same with all comedians ? Everyone has their off days lol. I went to see him in Dublin last year and thought he was fantastic live. I love him on panel shows.
And then once you write a brilliant show called Not Going Out that people absolutely love they'll cancel it after 3 series even though the ratings and reviews are getting better.
I couldn't agree more, NGO was absolutely amazing, I keep watching it again and again on DVD and I STILL cry with laughter. What ARE the BBC thinking of?
I have no idea, they're keeping The Life of Riley and My Family aswell. I used to love My Family but it's not good anymore and even when it was it was no Not Going Out. Stupid BBC :(
So lets just get this straight! Mr Macks sitcom writing tips include:
1) Don't do it.
2) Become a standup.
3) Stage a production in Edinburgh
Not a great deal of 'writing' tips in there then!
And for anyone who hasn't had the misfortune to sit through an episode of LM's shitcom; it makes Two Pint of Lager and a Packet of Crisps look like Fawlty Towers.
A legend from my home town.

Why is he so bitter about naturalistic comedys? Or sitcoms that arent filmed in front of a studio audience?

I like Lee Mack on Would I Lie to You but personally whenever I watched Not Going Out it was just like watching an episode of When the Whistle Blows.
