From an artistic stand point, it's interesting. Pitching in your own style and originality to a cultural icon is cool (in my opinion), especially if it's pretty good, which you are.

However, musically, I'd suggest finding a rubber (or soft-tipped) mallet. The clacking was distracting me from the melody, and it'd be nicer to hear more of the music. :) Keep up the good work.

dude that plastic strike zone isn't gonna cut it. heres what i plan on doing. Go to walmart buy a shit load of beer coolies...the cup holder made of foam. cut and glue two rings to each other. then use a shower curtain cut that to fitting and wrap it around and tighten the foam over the strike zone of course you need a hole in the curtain for resonance but you knew that. I'm gonna try this myself soon but for now i just take the cup holders and glue them onto corrugated plastic campaign signs.

oooh I seeee. you can change it from a PVC instrument to a tubulum, just by adding caps to the ends. very clever :-)
