people who say he wasn't the best don't know anything about racing. the only reason ferrari was on top was because of his input on how to develop the car and his ability to get the team to work together perfectly. racing isn't just about driving the car you have to know how to set it up so you can get the most out of it and you have to be able to work great with a team and he is a perfect example of someone who could do it all

@twistedhat it wasn't only about the ability of MS to set up the car. ross brown was much more important in developing the team and strategy. MS was a great talent but never really had competitors worth of his skills. i still think he's been one of the best, probably second only to senna.

I agree 100% and have had multiple conversations around this point. People seem to forget that Ferrari couldn't get out of their own way for 20 years and it wasn't until Schumacher came onboard that they finally got their act together. The combination of Schumacher, Todt, and Brawn is what was needed to turn things around and usher in a new golden age for the Prancing Horse. Schumacher's dedication to training, testing, and development raised the bar for all other drivers.

1. There were German grand prix drivers during the second world war. Hitler financed Mercedes and Auto Union to be the constructors to beat in grand prix racing.

2. Not all Germans were especially keen on the NSDAP party and all the police fractions set up by Hitler. A lot of people were forced (there's a point that could be used to your advantage, however, because people were also forced.

Honestly Senna and Schumacher have their Place in Formula one History, as two of my favorite drivers. Both have the right stuff to be championship caliber drivers. I have all their autographs - I respect them ALL hugely. I acknowledge Schumi is possibly the 2nd best, with Prost or Fangio, of the 800 F1 drivers ever. But Senna was in another dimension to the rest of them - a Superhuman once-per-century freak. He was a magician of impossible talent that all of us veterans of F1 know for a cold hard fact - no one was even close to the great master. That will never be in any doubt whatsoever.
