  • She's not moving her head... she's like a robot doing the exercise

  • @That is exactly what I was thinking. I didn't think dégagés left the floor... :/

  • ugh my ballet teacher ALWAYS makes me do that..

  • Is this not battement glissé?

  • OMG! What song is this? It's amazing. My iphone app comes up with "no match."

  • her turnout :o

  • she's just doing a bar exercise. she's not supposed to be happy about it. i know i wouldn't be.

  • and where is the "degage" ? It's battement tendy JETTE!! not degage. And her arms is horrible!

  • @deprressionmichal

ive studied RAD and cecchetti and i know its different in RAD but in cecchetti this is known as a battement degage

  • @deprressionmichal It's battement degage. Degage = disengage.

  • her hips move in aaalll the positions :S and i dont like her hand, but other than that :D shes ok! :)

  • her hips r moving a lot when she does it to the side

  • wow

  • These ARE degage's. "Jete" means "thrown" in french, and there are many different types of jete's in ballet (grand jete, tour jete, jete en tournant, etc.) but all of them involve jumping, having BOTH legs extended in the air. In this case, one leg remains grounded while the other leg brushes and lifts off the floor, hence it is a degage.

This video is great: not exciting, but serves its purpose in that it demonstrates degage's for beginners.

  • @ldiva5678 Thanks for the info!

  • Here's the deal sweetie...I'm a grown woman and you're irritating. Plain and simple. The fact that you have so much to say tells me that you MUST be a world renowned dancer, right??

"Called me on something"...I don't think so. You're not very bright and this is honestly beneath me. So, I'm not going to take up any more of this space replying to you. Like I said before inbox me and we can discuss it. Otherwise, I'm done.

  • OMG! You just never stop do you? Wow. Shut up already.

  • Haha, I can't resist... sorry. This is just so priceless. You complain about me refusing to stop, yet here you, replying to me every single time!!!! So doesn't that make you just as bad as me? Just sayin...

  • But seriously, okay, I'm done. Even if you reply again. So for real this time, have a good night and I SINCERELY hope we never run into each other again ;)

  • what is the different between jete and dedage?

  • Das ist jété und nicht degage

  • common ppl ! u're making me sick !

stop telling her bad things ! u have no right to do that !

i bet non of u r a ballet teacher that could see what she does wrong ! so stopp !!!!

  • .......what

  • she does drop her hips,

    and her hands suck.

  • Yeah, I agree with "ytisprettycool77" I can´t see any passion..it´s more "Well, i have to do it, but it´s horrible" Sorry, but you really don´t look enthusiastic

  • this is not degage! this is small jete crosed.!!!

  • I know, this is on the Pennsylvania ballet site. I think it is funny how all these people know better (on the other videos too) and you have loads of thumbs down.

  • smile a little!

if you're in ballet you should be doing it because you love it. i see no passion in her.

  • @ytisprettycool77 I hardly think this is the height of passion for her in dance...this is like if you chastised a violinist for not passionately~ running through the scales when she's spreading rosin on the strings. :}

Some things are just more technical than others; but if it falls under the thing you love, chances are you care about it, too.

  • battements en l'air

    les degages sont au sol
