  • Hi Gary. I'm new to helicopters and found this really helpful. I'm building a TREX 450 Pro at the moment with a DX8. Any further tips would be good too. Ta. Stu.

  • Thanks for this super helpful video. Got the aileron reversed in 10 seconds flat. Woohoo.

    Thanks!!!

  • Thanks man! Great stuff!

  • yeah that makes sense and helps a lot actually. thanks :)

  • i just heard that the gyro can tell the difference between stick moves and subtrim, and that it messes everything up in flight. have you had any flight related issues?

  • @killirishred The gyro looks at subtrim etc on boot up as the mid point as it were, so is only effected if the trims are moved after it has booted, this is separate to altering trim for the other servos. Yes some gyros need zero sub trim but most see any trim as the center when they boot. If this makes sense (c:

  • never set subtrim to level servo arms, always take the arms off with a screw driver!

  • @killirishred you will never get the servos level like that. You need tiny adjustment so sub trim is best.

  • @GaryGraham66 eh its worth trying some times you can get it dead on if your lucky

    my Trex500s Align510s i needed 0 sub trim

  • Wonderful video! 5 stars! Thank you for helping to clear things up. You have a flair for simply and perfectly explaining things others seem to make too complicated. Wonder if you could tell me if you are doing this setup in normal or idle-up(stunt) mode? In other words, in your setup, mid-stick is 0 pitch, so will low stick be 0 or negative 1 or 2 in normal mode for those of us that don't fly 3D?

    Thanks again mate!

    Lou

  • @brohoop Cheers Lou, always do the set up in idle up mode, basically you need a linear pitch curve to get the servo throws even. This gives you 0 pitch at 50% and max pitch at hi stick etc. Once this is done, when you switch to normal mode you have about -2 degrees at lo stick and +9 or 10 at hi stick. Or if you have a dx6i etc you can adjust the pitch curve to whatever pitch you prefer at low stick etc. and just use a pitch gauge to get what pitch you want.

  • @GaryGraham66 Thanks, Gary! Can't wait to try all this stuff out for myself! Cheers!

  • I would like to thank you Gary for helping people out with building a Rc Helicopter and taking the time to detail all the descriptions so guys starting out know what to do10/10 nice job. I am just starting with heli's I got a 450 & 600 Trex electric I cant wait to build these are one day scale them up.

    Cheers

  • Cheers Stan, if I get some more spare time I will be doing basic repair vids.

  • gary are you reading of a script in this video you certainly sound posh in this vid

  • LOL it took ages to do that voice over, hehehe

  • Yeah mate it will be very similar to the DX6i.

  • Hey Gary I need some help with my King2 And Ar7000,

    Thro --->ESC

    Aile ----> Servo

    Elev----> Servo

    Rudd--->Gyro wire (Where do i put the Yellow power on?)

    and where do i plug the other Swash Servo?

  • left servo aileron = aile

    right servo pitch = aux1

    front/rear servo = Elev

    single wire from gyro into gear then you can use the gear channel to control the gyro.

  • hallo Gary!! i have proplem and i dont know how to solve it! [sorry about my english;-]!] im trying to set up the pitch curve in n-mode but... when am puting in low stick -2 its ok but the other blade is completly not -2..! so i dont know why! in mid-stick am trying to put 0 but the blades are not equal..!! THE LINKS ARE THE SAME. so if you know Gary tell me please! THANKS!!

  • Make sure your swashplate is level then check one blade's pitch and then turn the blades and check the other one in the same position as the first one was (ie on the same side of the heli) adjust the links on one blade to get the same pitch on both blades.

  • hallo Gary. is the cypriot again; -]] can you help me Gary also for 3d mode??i mean what is the numbers in st-1 and st-2 in dx7?? thanks again;-]]

  • Hi

    for ST1 I use

    L= 35 1 =45 2=50 3= 75 H=100 for pitch

    and either linear throttle or

    L=100 1=inh 2=75 3=inh H=100

    and for ST2

    linear pitch (straight line diagonal L=0 to H=100)

    and throttle

    L=100 1=inh 2=85 3=inh h=100 with exp on all settings

  • thanks a lot Gary!! it was very HELPFULL!!

  • No problem, glad to help.

  • can you tell me gary please what pich in dx7?? i mean in n-mode L? 1? 2? 3? H?

  • HI starting from L

    L=40 1= 61 2=67 3= 73 H=90 this give nice gentle hovering pitch.

  • thanks a lot! i have dx 7 so its ok!! thanks

  • thanks for the video!! can you tell us how to set up the throttle and pich curves???? please!

  • Hi, for the beginner pitch curves of

    40 61 67 73 90 with linear throttle (0 25 50 75 100) or adjust mid point of throttle to 70% if you have dx7 use expo on both throttle and pitch curves.

    Pitch 35 45 50 75 100 for more advanced pilot

    linear pitch and throttle 100 INH 80 INH 100 for 3D flight.

  • Sorry I missed this first time.

    Not sure really SE is "superior Edition" don't know about the SA (maybe a typo) (c:

  • Thanks for the great video. I am setting up my SA and XL with a Spektrum DX6 and this helps out greatly. Do you recommend a DX7 transmitter?

  • Either the DX6i or DX7 are good choices, however I recommend the DX7 for 2 reasons.

    1: the extra channel (very handy to have)

    2: the DX7 has more expo settings for throttle and pitch curves.

    But for £100 the DX6i is a great TX.

  • thanks for the information!

  • good video....

  • cheers (c:
