  • can someone shut that pigeon up??

  • Wich pixel is the spider?

  • This makes me really want to learn Mantis Kungfu.

  • Hi I'm mr.mantis may I eat your face?

    ...

please sir it's impolite not to answer when asked a question

    ...

Please sire I'm trying my best to be polite I need to eat you NOW!!!

    ...

    FUCK IT!!! -grabs him-

  • Cool video. This is the first year i didn't buy tons of egg sacks & place them thru the yard but as you will see on the video i posted here. A really nice sized Mantid has been hunting on the back porch door because the light draws in moths.

  • bad angle on the strike

  • Oh hai, I'm mantis I'm here to eat you good sir.

  • lol the praying mantis is like WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT CAMRA

  • jeffrey?

  • If i mated them id make the male cum in her then rag him off with tweezers so i cud keep him :3

  • Looks more like a Hermit Crab to me :|

  • The spider's like "Don't move and he won't see you." He probably thinks the mantis is a T-Rex. LOL

  • The drunken master fighting style takes on the alcoholic human and we are animals lol

  • superfly stop teasing our savior jesus u have no right to say that to hime u imposter..

  • @superfly638

you should shit infront of his door

  • GOOD THEORY

  • Man, I thought it would be like a formidable spider or something. That little-ass spider didn't stand a chance

  • that's creepy how you put something up to its face then it just turns its head- i'm like. OH SHIT!!!

  • the kungfu moves are based after the mantis's stance, agility, and overall speed, not copying the mantis exactaly

  • praying mantis kung fus agility and footwork is based on monkey lol only the upper body is based on mantis.

  • Great footage mate!

    *5*

  • Care to pick out the highlights?

  • shaolin monks actually got kungfu moves from mantis

  • i think its more like they named moves the mantis ;D because of its speed and deadlyness etc .. i highly doubt the mantis showed the monks some kickass moves ?

  • mockingbird83 said "inspired" not taught >.> there is a clear difference

  • @scorpions9197 and Tiger, monkey, crane, etc....lots of animal symbolism in asian martial arts...

  • @scorpions9197 they also got them from drunk ppl 2 i think

  • funny how this little creature inspired a whole derivative of martial arts

  • that mantis was like i see you hey hey hey guess wat i see you and you cant see me cause im green and guess wat gonna happen yep you dont know but i do hahahahaha

  • boring...

  • Actually the camera is pretty still, is the bush that's moving because of the wind

  • Cool video, but I recommend that you invest in a tripod.

  • i got headache watching it. you have to hold the camera firm.

  • i love praying mantis ive got thousands of them in my backyard, once one jumped on my shoulder and wouldnt get off, i named it jeffrey

  • ahaha you named it jeffrey thats funny XD but dont they like sting or something?

  • no they have sharp claws tho another time i tried to pik up one and it pinched my finger and made it bleed pretty good!

  • does it hurt cause ive wanted to see what it felt like

  • not really it kinda felt like a bad paper cut

  • to be honnest i never saw that praying mantis....even when it was zoomed in until it moved from cleaning its arm.

man those mantis are good at being camoflaged

  • what is that spider

its a poopy spider with big fat buttcheecks liek you face. cause ur ac]b]utt

  • you should really get a tripod cause you can not hold a camera still

  • The praying mantis teaches us speed and patience

  • Hahah, yes young grasshopper

  • the mantis is the top bug

  • If he happened upon it and filmed it, there's nothing wrong with it. Those stupid "mortal combat" videos where they drop arthropods into a li'l box and get erections over watching them "battle" are pathetic, though.

  • I am glad man is 1000x the size of these, I still have an instinctive fear of skittering little things.

  • dog fighting is wrong because the people are making a personal gain and subjecting those animals in conditions where they have to fight. this vid is doing neither of those things

  • if dog fighting is wrong, why isnt this

  • go watch you little disney videos and relearn about the circle of life.

this is showing a mantis existing in its natural environment. you think they survive on plants or by going to mcdonalds?

  • this is 'nature' dog fighting is cruel.

  • what you dont think dogs would fight in the wild? comon comen sense

  • idiot, to wager a bet on two dogs ripping each other to shreads is cruel, wild fighting has nout to do with man made dog fighting.

  • Haha, what the fuck, I have two as pets!

  • Im more of a mantis fan but this fite was unfair cuz the spider was way too small, but it was still a cool vid xD

  • It cant be unfair

    its in its natural surroundings..

thats just how it goes lolz...

Whats unfair is stupid japaneseinset fights when they keep the insects in cages with no natural surroundings at all

  • its sposedto be big...

  • theirs different kind of breads

  • like brown, and wholemeal.....

  • well, lucky for them that they don't live in Holland. I would kill them cuz they could eat my birds. I would kill them slow..

  • Just as well a hornet didn't come by. Mantis would not be so clever then, lol

  • lol stupid hornets!

  • japanesebugfights dot com for tons of different species fighting

  • interesting!

  • i like your video , I think you are very patient ^ ^

  • mantis r wery big!!

  • THAT IS SOOO NOT FAIR!

  • That is pretty much like a pitbull fighting a chihuahua! find a spider the same size and then we have a fight! This should have titled Praying Mantis eats little spider. but thanx for the video.

  • you mean like a tarantula type spider but somewhat smaller than a normal sized one

  • i was walking to my car one time and i looked on the hood of my car and two praying mantisis were duking it out (happened today) i was like holy shit!!! i ran inside and me and my friend watched them for about 5 mins we bet on em and i won 5 bucks woohoo! now i love these guys and they look rad when they fight!

  • my brother fainted.XD

  • DUDE ... where do you live?! i love the birds out there!!!

  • i had a spider farm with about 7deadly species in there and about 12 normal ones includeing daddy longlengs amazeingly to me and my dads eyes after puting a praying mantis in there the the dady longlegs and mantis actualy ganged up on a fully grown huntsmen

    it was amazeing!!!!!!

  • Um dos insetos que mais me fscinam: o Louva deus!

  • aff... isn't a spider....

    lol

  • dude,vangstaz, it's not a chinese mantis, it's mantis religiosa

  • lol, this video has a nice, elegant setting on the plant swaying like that. A beautiful death.

  • CHUCK NORRIS...

  • LMAO, definitely

  • Ah, a Chinese mantis you got there! I used to have one myself! I found it at school thought ! lolz!

  • one time a saw a lone mantis attack small hornets nest with about 20 hornets in it. anyway the mantis lasted for 6 minutes before being overrun. i gathered my friends and gave it a 21 gun salute (with airsoft guns)

  • lol

  • that mantis had some serious balls lol XD

  • lol he had something to prove to those hornets XD lol

  • how many did it take down before going down?

  • like a dramatic ending to an action movie.

  • i had them for a science project on mantis mating habits. but i would have had just one had it been under normal circumstances

  • one time i had a pet praying mantis female named scythris. i also had a male named scyther but he died when they mated. but after they did scythris had an egg sack! but mom made me put it outside before they hatched.

  • Haha, thats funny, I also have a Male Mantis named Scyther. I didn't want a female to be put in the terrarium though because of the fact that the female kills the male after mating.

  • @RngrHawk It's recently been suggested that phenom isn't "natural" In the wild, a male should be strong and swift enough to escape after mating. It's beginning to be believed the human presence (ie during recording and other situations) affects the process, and that's when we observe the female going nom nom.

  • @scytherian hi can u tell me tat did mantis hurt human when we hold mantis?

  • @jingan97 nah but if u grab them they will just walk away just put ur hand down and wait for it to go on ur hand

  • I hate bugs but they are interesting o_O

  • hey clickityclack ill put tht giant praying mantis up 2 my bearded dragon see who wins eh?

  • It's funny because I have a baby dragon and a preying mantis and when I placed the PM up to the dragons cage, the dragon sure wanted it as a meal. Depending on the size of the dragon though, I would bet the PM can give it a run for it's money.

  • ya im talking about a 12 inch juvinille

  • I would say a 12" male dragon would make a meal out of a preying mantis. Mine is about 8" and the way that I have seen the PM that I have as a pet attack just about anything (including my finger with those damn barbed front legs), he would give my dragon a good fight.

  • i let my dragon walk around on the ground and my cat tried to attack him but i shood my kitty away my dragon always licks things lol and with his claws he can climb uo my shirt

  • Dragons always seem to want to 'taste' everything. At least mine does. He licks the sand. He licks his food and water dishes. He licks His climbing gym. He licks my finger. I swear they need to taste everything in order to see if they want to eat it. I have also had my dragon (my first one who died a month back) climb my shirt as well. Those nails if not kept short can and has clawed the hell out of me....and my clothes!!

  • did you see that big green leaf move in the wind and then eat that spider??

  • MANTIS HA,THEY ARE FOOD FOR WASPS

  • Years ago, I saw a mantis trapped in a spider's web. When the spider was about to strike, I hosed the spider away and freed the mantis. I just couldn't let it attack him. Mantises are totally awesome! Predatory to pests, gentle to humans.

  • My hero! ^-^

  • Tardy spider haha!

  • thats a black belt mantis, lol

  • praying mantis style kung fu. wait and strike.

featured in Avatar; the last airbender used by Toph. xD

  • my leopard geck sparta ate a poraying mantis before he waited till it started moving then gobbled him up.........This Is Sparta!

  • Stick a fully grown female giant asian mantis in there see who wins.

  • i got pinched by one once. Dang thing would not let me go. OUCH!

  • i never realised how big they were!

  • I'm glad I'm not an insect.

  • I used to keep mantids and feed them locusts that were double their own size. They would wrangle the life out them and rip them to bits. What non-poisonous animal can do that to another that is twice as big as itself? Ounce for ounce, they are the very top of the food chain.

  • Agreed! They're really smart too.

  • Not fair, That Matis is a 5th degree black belt

  • Awesome, i love Praying Mantis' ... they are brilliant hunters!

  • nasty ur retarded there only like 8 inches big

  • That's what she said.

  • GO praying mantis kill that stupid spider

  • The mantis is the most scary predator ever. Imagine bein g caught by its retraktable arms and EATEN ALIVE!!!!

    Gives me the creeps.

  • Spiderman! Spiderman! Does whatever a... uh... er... nevermind. He dead!

  • lol stupid ass spider

  • also the mantis is a trickster, and very patient, the match would depend alot on the elements surrounding it, obviously. put a tarantula on a tree near a camouflaged mantis of about the same mass and we might just see a dead hairy spider!

  • i agree that mantis' wtfpwn, but square it off against A)tarantula(especially the more aggressive species) B)scorpion (i think a scorp would wtfpwn it) C)giant centipede(centipede would probably wtfpwn it as well D)Camel spider or solifugid (no venom, but they pack a nasty bite...pit it against one of those and we'd see a real match up!

  • my cat?

  • thats one ugly spider

  • Praying mantis can beat a spider, but then he goes home to his woman and gets slapped arround. Says something.

  • it wouldn't pwn a goliath bird eating spider tho :)

  • wow. this is the meost boring thing EVER!!!! watching paint dry is more fun than watching this. I'd rather put a bullet in my head than watch this again.

  • a mantis will pwn just about anything that is near its size EXEPT

    a scorpion wuld pwn it

  • I would pwn it

  • if praying mantisis were the size of large dogs they would pwn everthing in exhistance

  • no because they would not be nearly as strong if they were larger. if an ant were the size of an elephant its weight would break it's spindly little legs.

  • dude, guys a Mantis would pown everyhting in existance

  • a hornet can beat a mantis

  • fuck that shit, one hornet alone would totally get pwnd.

  • hornet vs mantis

    RBDdIZiSgQ8'

    aww wassup now bitch!

  • lol its just a house spider it can fite a bit but their the weakest spider i ever seen

  • what an accurated attak! very nice miss mantis

  • That Mantis put the pwn in pwnage!

  • lol at the beginning the mantis turned over to the camera

  • well is a very tiny spider....obvious victory

  • no small insect can win versus Mantis

  • so if it pinched my finger would it make it bleed or make a lil cut?

  • are the claws of a praying mantis sharp and strong?

  • They can pinch pretty hard, it wouldn't feel nice thats for sure. Sharpness... I don't think that they would severely cut you at all.

  • a praying mantis is the pretty insect bug..very friendly and easily friend pat pet so well

  • Judging from the birds, you live in mid-west United States?

  • you could figure that out just from listening to the birds?

  • I've had a mantis as a pet before, they seem to be calm and not hostile at all. When I put my hand in front of him it would climb right on. Sadly he died after a freak molting accident. Never put in food while they are molting or they become the food, I had to learn it the hard way :(.

  • phoar, it ate it spick clean!! thanks for uploading this

  • nice vid, could of made it shorter though.

  • well that spider was fucking rubbish..next

  • i moved to portugal like 8 months ago and as soon as i went round te back there was 2 mantises m8ing then the male gets eaten

  • Its a wonderful big mantis. Nice ejemplar

  • wat d

  • >.> i hear pigeons... LOL XD all that and all i can say is that i hear pigeons XD ahaha i'm sooo random! lol but just an observation O.o

  • Those pigeons are a sign that your organs are gonna be taken out! O_o (see: Invader Zim. Ep: Dark Harvest)

  • omg i luv that episode!! gir is my hero XD

  • Is it time for waffles? Say Pleeeaasssseee!

Let's make biscuits! Let's... make... biscuits...

  • I didnt know gir was on youtube:)

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *head explodes* i misses you cupcake i misses yuuuuuu *cries*

  • where do you live? i spent 3 years lookin around for 1 instead of going to a store to buy one. plz tell me plz...

  • Buy what?

  • If you live in california they live all over. I lived in Grass Valley california and I saw them all the time all over my yard.

  • We have lots in NC also, Carolina Mantises, not very big though, but one of the more agressive ones againsts bugs, literally just run around all day hunting instead of waiting. great for farms

  • this sucked, at one point where the battle is going on u move the camera all crazy and u keep zooming in and out.

jeez thats so annoying. just keep it in one place. by the time u get good action again he's already eating him.

  • Ok, you do a better job. Find a Mantis eating two spiders and post it :) Then I will criticize your footage.

  • good point.

  • BORING

  • DID NOT LIKE IT
