@digitaljez There is a person who used to be a Christian youth minister whose name is Joshua Evans, he converted to Islam after noticing the contradictions in the Bible and started looking for different religions everywhere around the world, and finally he got to read the English translation of the Quran. He says that when he got chapter 19 "Mariam" he gave his heart to the Quran and he decided to become a Muslim all just for that unique faith represented in the Glorious Quran.
@digitaljez and Joshua Evans had described Islam as the most beautiful thing in the world ever for someone looking outside in. He had taught me (and I am a person who was born and raised as a Muslim) to share this message with the world not just out of generosity but out of duty. So that boost of faith was missing in the American experience on prohibition of alcohol decades ago that is why it failed, but Muslim experience of prohibition of alcohol in the early Muslim society succeeded.
@Adamtech81 Islam does not look beautiful from the outside. To deal with the weakest people, those who can not control their sexual lust and can not control their drinking, it imposes laws that stifle everyone. All women have to be hidden and no-one can drink (when even mohammed recognised that alcohol (in moderation) had benefits.) To be muslim is to say you are too weak to behave decently and must be controlled from outside. It diminishes the human spirit.
@digitaljez Islam does look gorgeous for the people with intellect brother and here is why:
1- With the clarity of its belief and message it gives you a strong foundation for change and to build a true Muslim character (for example you can explain the idea of One Creator for every thing and one message to all peoples through different messengers & prophets to a little kid and he/ she can easily understand and digest, on the other hand people with PHDs still cannot explain the idea of trinity).
2- the Shariah laws that you are talking about are meant to better the society as well as individuals. Here is an example, during the Abbasydian period which lasted for centuries, only six hands were cut off due to robbery. It may look like a harsh law to cut that hand that steels; but compare that to how many people are going to jail everyday just in the US for robbery, and you will realize that it is a mercy to have such a law to make people feel safe and thieves to heal.
@digitaljez 3- prophet Mohammad PBUH said that every single human being is exposed to commit mistakes, but the best of us are those who repent and quit. Both of these points are true because even prophets are bound to err even though their mistakes are not like those of common people but they still do. So Islam admits this fact but also gives you the practical solution to it. Here is a good example for this fact:

@digitaljez 4- It is true that Shariah comes with laws that punishes people that do mistakes which harm others, before that it gives a great boost of faith to people in general and a clear understanding to them not to do such mistakes. By the way Islamic Shariah laws are way less harsh than other religions. According to the Bible, an adulterer is to be stoned to death. According to the Quran, an adulterer is to be wiped one hundred lashes (which does not kill, but teaches a very good lesson)
@Adamtech81 In civilised societies we don't make laws based on the ideas of superstitious tribesmen who believed in djinns and angels. The only people who still stone to death are following the sayings and example of Mohammed. Jesus and Paul did away with it in Christendom.

As for my Christian brothers and sisters, if they were true believers that the Bible is the true word of God, they should have followed it word for word and not find another alternatives thinking that they know better than their Creator. Jinns and Angels exist although I can not show you a physical proof about the existence of angels. And since we talked about how women should be covered by Allah's order, we should also talk about how men should be covered by Allah's order from navel to knees, so for example, short shorts are not allowed for men in Islam. Mohammad PBUH was told by Allah about benefits of Alcohol but he also was told that they do more harm than good to societies.

I have just showed you the effect of following the Shariah on the Muslim society before and I compared it to the modern society today.
@digitaljez based on that, no system or law can beat the Shariah in practicality and in the rewarding aspect of laws because these laws are divine and perfect. Here is an example for you, when a thief in a western country get caught and be punished, to him/ her it doesn't matter, because they are living a good free life in the jail which is paid for through the taxes paid by society. In a Muslim law based country, a thief would have his hand cut off to know better every time he remembers ...

Because in the book of Job, Satan only does what God allows him to do, which would make it seem that he does God's dirty work. On the other hand, in the new testament, Satan is portrayed as an enemy of God who tempts Jesus. But if Satan only does God's will than why would he be an enemy? You see the bible is filled with contradictions and changing doctrines.

In addition to that, for the people it was only a matter of practicing a forced law upon them; there was not any motive behind it for them. God Almighty did not enforce a law on the early Muslims before He had planted the "Tawheed" which means the true belief of the Oneness of God "Allah", His angels, His Books, His messengers, and the last day. That is why if you open the Quran and look at the verses which was revealed in Mecca (during the first decade of the revelation) you would see it deals more of these five aspects than the Sharia (Islamic rulings) in Madina.

@digitaljez There is a person who used to be a Christian youth minister whose name is Joshua Evans, he converted to Islam after noticing the contradictions in the Bible and started looking for different religions everywhere around the world, and finally he got to read the English translation of the Quran. He says that when he got chapter 19 "Mariam" he gave his heart to the Quran and he decided to become a Muslim all just for that unique faith represented in the Glorious Quran.

2- the Shariah laws that you are talking about are meant to better the society as well as individuals. Here is an example, during the Abbasydian period which lasted for centuries, only six hands were cut off due to robbery. It may look like a harsh law to cut that hand that steels; but compare that to how many people are going to jail everyday just in the US for robbery, and you will realize that it is a mercy to have such a law to make people feel safe and thieves to heal.

@digitaljez 4- It is true that Shariah comes with laws that punishes people that do mistakes which harm others, before that it gives a great boost of faith to people in general and a clear understanding to them not to do such mistakes. By the way Islamic Shariah laws are way less harsh than other religions. According to the Bible, an adulterer is to be stoned to death. According to the Quran, an adulterer is to be wiped one hundred lashes (which does not kill, but teaches a very good lesson)

Here is an example for you, when a thief in a western country get caught and be punished, to him/ her it doesn't matter, because they are living a good free life in the jail which is paid for through the taxes paid by society. @digitaljez every time he remembers what would happen to him if he steels again using his other hand, so he quits for good and can still manage his life with one hand and work. It is that serious because steeling is addictive and hurt the thieve and the society as a whole. Thank you for your concern, please let me know if you have others.

Cons for sending a person to jail for thievery: 1- You don't teach the thief any lesson because you are not punishing him, you are just offering him a temporary comfortable residence with TV and free food, though you are depriving him from being outside. 2- You punish his victims and the whole society by having them pay for his being in jail through taxes when he stole their money in the first place so victims suffer but criminal doesn't.

@PalulukanMakto that doesn't make any sense because he hurt people so he should be punished for it, not millions of people. Pros for this: keeping the hand of a criminal who chose willingly to harm others. Cons to cut a thief's hand: making the life difficult for the person who chose willingly to harm others. Pros: 1- Teaching the thief a rememberable lesson not to harm people. 2- saving criminal and millions of people from having the same problem happening and from paying extra for his mistake.

But now I guess you have learned the pros and cons for both and know that Islam is right, just to everyone and specially in this situation is merciful to all (the thief and the whole society). We can't beat God's laws in justice and mercy man no matter how hard we try. Please let me know if you have any other concerns
