@Tubo196 I've monetized this video so Youtube pays me per view. I also get paid for every time someone clicks an add on one of my videos, so I don't really care if people like it or not haha. I did something that was hard to do and people don't like it. I'm use to it haha.
dam everyones a fucking critic lol you didn't lockout and shit fuck he picked up 405 with one arm thats some great grip strength sure hes using both his legs but its one hand that shits hanging from lol
AndyHarglesis, why have you not trolled this video yet? Very unlike you. I see you've trolled it with your old account, however I think you're due for a new post.
@delmole85 yep i have a buddy whos a rock climber who does it. I dont because i do bodybuilding and would be useless to me. its its pretty much good grip and keeping the bar balance. well and having strong legs to do it.
@weightlifter210 it's not the weight off the ground that's impressive, it's holding and balancing 405lbs in one hand during a lift. THAT'S impressive. The grip to grab 405lbs in one hand is tremendous, especially because it is free weight and has to be balanced. I mean, if he lifted this with his teeth would you still not be satisfied because he used 2 legs to get it up? What's impressive to you? Whistling Oklahoma, standing on one leg, shoulder pressing with one hand, deadlifting with the othe?
@zemmi786 man you should just mind your own business.Do people always got to say dumb shit on youtube? how the fuck do you know how much i can lift. Dont go around saying shit to someone you dont even know. Shows that your a fucking retard.
@willieofroanoke I've been doing these many years without injury. What ruptures a bicep on a deadift is the supinated grip combined with a bent arm when pulling. One arm deadlifts keep the arm straight, especially when using pronated grip.
@sti1tz Stupid stunts are just that... stupid. Sorry, I'm not impressed by a handful of guys that think they are impressive stroking their ego by showing off. From a more practical standpoint IF you reputure a bicep the likely repair will be surgical. That's expensive, may not be fully covered by insurance if the insurance company learns it was self induced, it's a painful and slow recovery and you'll NEVER be the same again. Worth it? Not if you think about it of course some will do it anyway.
@willieofroanoke just so you know there's a vast difference between being a idiot and doing something stupid. An idiot is defined as a person affected with idiocy; ie a feebleminded person typically having a mental age not exceeding three years often requiring complete custodial care. While being stupid is giving in to unintelligent decisions or acts, acting in an unintelligent or careless manner after being told or discovering on your own it doesn't make sense to do something.
@willieofroanoke The one arm deadlift is fantastic lift, not a stunt. This is how oldtime strongmen used to train. Today's strongmen and strength athletes don't understand this. George Hackenshmidt did the one arm deadlift with 770 pounds! Nobody has ever matched him in this feat. Because of this, he went on to set other strength records that will never be outmatched. I love the one arm deadlift.
I think one arm deadlifting with straps doesnt say anything one arm deadlift is a grip power exercise with straps this exercise doesnt make any sense.
@delmole85 well you tried to keep them from doing it. but theres to many idiots on facebook. someone always has to leave an asshole comment. But atleast you show a good demonstration on how its done.
What you see in the video is just an amazingly STUPID act. The relative point, that surely zooms over the head of the typical muscle head, is WHAT he is doing. Trying to jerk 400 pounds off the ground using one arm puts an insane amount of pressure on the shoulder joint and elbow as well. Its just a stupid, look ma, I can lift this much with one hand silly stunt. No serious athlete or body builder would ever do. File under JACKASS.
I'm glad there are experts out there like you. Did you ever consider my 2 arm deadlift might be up around 750lbs without a reverse grip. Like I told the much wiser and more mature guy below, i use single arm dead lifts as an event specific lift for hammer and weight throw. I'm def not a serious athlete or anything though. Serious athletes dont deadlift 745lbs or become All Americans in the weight throw. Experts like you are the serious athletes right?
one of the aspects of lifting is to put stress on the joints,, they get stronger that way..I know for a fact, delmole nearly has a 400lb clean, delmole kept his shoulder straight, back flat, and there were no indications that deemed the term jackass.. I'm going to check if you have any videos now...
Why? Because you're just showing off and risking injury. I don't care how strong you think you are. Your bicep is a relately small muscles. Putting 400 pounds stress on it for even a couple seconds is asking for trouble. I see you're the type that doesn't listen well, so do what you want. Some day you'll probably regret not listening.
bicep injuries are somewhat common when deadlifting very heavy and using mix grip. i believe primarily on the arm with the palm facing forward (supinated i think) to be on the safe side avoid mix grip unless going for a max. also you won't get the grip training you'd get from using double pronated
your bicep brachi, and brachioradialis isometically contract to keep your antebrachium and hand on your brachium. possible to tear, its inlikely tho, since the bicep actually has 2 attachments in the cubital region and two in the shoulder. the triceps is worked a well isometically contracting so your arm doesnt get ripped off.
@jmm121884 nah dats straight up true the ceps only act as glue basically your back legs traps shoulders grip and abs do it all.its like he copied that straight from a book lol cuz its pretty verbatum to
The point is you're risking ending your career lifting that much weight with one arm. The point isn't if you can do it, you showed you can, the point is if you should be doing it.
I'm sorta confused why you think this is such a big deal... i can do close to 700 with 2 arms and i havent ended my career yet. I have never had a lifting injury
OK, so what amount of weight is "too much" to be lifted with one arm for someone who can deadlift almost 700 lbs? If you don't have the answer to that question, and can't appreciate an amazingly impressive accomplishment on its own merits, and insist that somehow it's going to affect his biceps even though he's using a pronated grip and has a straight arm, then you probably shouldn't be commenting, since all of those things make it clear you don't really have any idea what you're talking about.
Isn't amazing how many experts there are out there haha. What ia amazing is how people think i jsut randomly descided to become a weight lifter one day and try to lift 400lbs with one hand. Nobody ever stops to think of what training is involved. simply throwing a discus 200 ft puts alot more stress on the Bicep than picking up some weight. I do this lift as an event specific excercise for hammer and weight throw. So anyways, i appreciate the props. Thanks. Take it easy
Actually it did haha. I grew up throwing hay bails, digging holes and chipping wood. I suppose that counts as training sorta though. Throwing the weight builds a lot of strength too
Look at me, look at mark felix lol. also, i cant find one where he actually locks out, he pretty much just stops at the top. either way, i think 405 wiht one hand is pretty good for someone who doesnt dead lift. Im a thrower, not a power lifter
I dont think it is pretty good, I think it is INSANELY good. You do not need to lock the weight. You were just showing that you could indeed hold 405, which you did with ease. I can almost pull 800 and I cannot hold 405 hook grip with 1 hand. Good work.
Thanks man. Ive done alot of manual labor throughout my life that has strengthened my hand a ton.. alot of metal working, carpentry and farm labor. I dont believe in using power tools in most cases either haha. I would be willing to bet there are alot of Amish guy that you hook grip 400 if they wanted to haha
I actually mislabled that, there were actualy 2 of the rubber 45s on each side and 2 iron york plates. The rubbers are slightly bigger. putting them of first makes it so you can slide the second 2 iron 45s on without lifting the bar.
It's impossible (with heavy weight) to square your shoulders back and keep your arm dead center against your body. If allow your arm to move to side where ir wants to be, you fall to the side or the bar turns. In the movie i was jsut picking up 405lbs. its not a competition, so why try to kill yourself by locking out...
showing off... I paid for it too! It can be useful with much much smaller weights. This is enough weight to screw up your spine though, so i wouldnt recomend trying this type of stuff
You would be right on that one lol. I was just doing it for the sake of doing it. It is actually helpful to do single arm cleans, snatches, and other stuff like that
i was 230 at the time. Im 250ish now. Don't use me as an example thoguh, Please don't try to do heavy one arm stuff. You will screw up your back I like i did after trying this.
I never use a belt unless in doing something super super heavy. If you use a belt all the time, even during warmup sets. you don't activate the stabilizer muscles as well. So, never use a belt when you are doing low weight stuff. Straps, it depends on the lift. I use them for dropping hang cleans, but since most peoples hands are the weak link in the chain, its usually good to not use them for dead lifts and full cleans and whatnot.
Mad respect man, I saw this video before but I didn't see just how crazy this was. I just tried 225 single-handed, I thought I had a strong grip (HG250x4-5)...I was shocked that I couldn't even budge 225...and here you are nearly doing double, props man.
Thanks for the kind words... was using a strap though so there was less grip involved then you would initially think. I can't single hand lift any more than 315 on the bar that rotates
Lame is my middle name baby!!! Part of becomming a good athlete though is gaining strength through changing around workouts. If you do the same old crap every week you dont get anywhere. Im one of the top 35lb weight throwers in the nation... I think i might be doing something right.
Im not in the point in the season when i wanna lift super hard in that area... I dont wanna screw myself up before conference... I'll try to get on it though
Haha no biggie. By the way. Sorry for yelling "doesn't count" I bet 99% of the people who say "doesn't count" on this clip wouldn't say that if they didn't hear me on the video.

I sorta pulled my left oblique in the video ..

Hey man, post a vid of your 1rm two-hand deadlift. Aren't you in the 700lb-range?

Im not in the point in the season when i wanna lift super hard in that area... I dont wanna screw myself up before conference... I'll try to get on it though

Nice job...haha, even if it "doesn't count", that's still an impressive feat...

thanks, its pretty hard to lock out throwing the hips foward when you are only holding the bar with one hand lol

Haha no biggie. By the way. Sorry for yelling "doesn't count" I bet 99% of the people who say "doesn't count" on this clip wouldn't say that if they didn't hear me on the video.
