  • rather amusing -this site now appears mute. Perhaps I can discreetly provide a comment. God Save The Queen.Long live Great Britain. Great Britain and it"s Empire can look into hisory with pride, honour and dignity. without these islands most of this planet would be stone-aged barbarians.

  • I think after we threw all there tea in Boston Harbor and they burned down our White House I think we can call it even.

  • I hate that in AP Us history the war itself isn't looked at that much because the results were more important. I love the story of the war and we went over it in 2 days.

  • a "quick and dirty history"????

  • Awesome video thank you:-)

  • @THEBIGCAGEY HEY NOT REALLY WATCH PATRIOT MEL GIBSON DESTROYED A WHOLE PLATON SO 1V1 MY ASS

  • t was a british revolution fought in the colonies, even the american forefathers considered themselves good englishmen, look up the forefathers of the usa, there all sons and grandsons of englishmen born in england, they didnt want to pay taxes,so convieniently called themselves americans,it was all about livelyhoods, not being a american patriot

  • @broadband01 That's a good point. A lot of people never look at the biographies of the founding fathers

  • Unfortunately my ancestors didn't get here until the late 1800's. I would be proud to have family roots here during the revolution. I'm not a huge pro American or anything but I have to admit that these guys definitely had some balls for standing up to the British. To many loyalists, this war seemed like it was incredibly stupid and risky.

  • @jbjindra its better to die for something than live for nothing. i would imagine thats the way the colonists saw it.

  • haha people from great britian are funny.. they say words like "troll" and "wanker".. we in USA say words like "pussy ass motherfuckin bitch" or "fuck you"... so Fuck you pussies!

  • So, who here is happy that we kicked the crap out of the evil Brits?

  • @HRMacQuacken you wanker, come over to britain and say it yourself. YOULL GET FUCKED.

  • @HRMacQuacken gay troll

  • @HRMacQuackenarse- your "revolution" was a sham- George Washington, whose father was English aristocracy ,was a slave owning tobacco plantation owner.="all men created equal-except me" BWAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • It was not a civil war since most of the population wasn't completely British and because it was against the tyranny of British government-revolution.

  • @shb01188 No is was not a civil war it was a revolution which and if the US had lost all the founding fathers would have been hanged as traders. It's funny when you call it the tyranny of the British government the British citizens living in what is now call Canada didn't feel that way. Oh and they got their Independence though peaceful means, no loss of life. It was a war that was totally unnecessary another case of "Rich mans war poor mans fight".

  • @shb01188 Even the Declaration of Independence was a lie "all men are created equal" yep for the white man maybe but not the black. Do you know that when the Brits started leaving the country they were taking their black servants with them and the US protested saying they did not belong to the Brits but the Americans. We were hypocrites, fought a war for freedom while continuing to endorse slavery.

  • @andy2k71 If the fighting occurred in Britain I might agree with calling it a civil war but the collection of states were a peripheral colony that decided to break away. At least a lare minority of the colonists did. They were British citizens yes but most by this time had been born in the states and what do the children care what their parent's mother country was.

Thinking further, the colonists were not trying to overthrow and establish a new British government just establish their own.

  • @warscholar1945 So I'd have to say not a Civil War. Check 1642 for the last British Civil War.

  • @warscholar1945 so effectiveley you could say it was an overseas european war XD

  • @warscholar1945 It was a civil war. If there would have been proper representation in Parliament, Washington and the rest of the founders would have not fought against the Crown. Also, the rebels were the minority. Most people in North America were with the Crown.

  • @warscholar1945 They were British, the nationality of a citizen is not neccessarily defined by the geography. I believe it was a civil war, it arose from rebellion, individual against state, until the individuals organised to become state in their own right against the birthing state.

  • @zerker12568901

It is very encouraging to see other people also identifying this as the first american civil war.

there were far many more tories than the american historians were willing to admit.

thankfully, most of them founded canada, and we are recently realising more about the exiled loyalists.

    true patriots.

  • @warscholar1945

a civil war has nothing to do with where on the planet is is located.

it is a civil war if the civil populace is divided and takes up arms - which is what happened.

There were a lot of Tories. Hundreds of Thousands. All citizens of the colonies were British. 'British' is a national umbrella. not a race.

So it was a Civil War.

  • now tell me about the slaughter of the native americans

  • @pimpnasty44 we fucked em up and took their shit, end of story..

  • you see? france saved your ass. we owe you nothing you fat fucks

  • @fra2603 And the US saved your ass in WW2, when you waved the white flag as soon as Hitler said "boo".

  • @DiverseLA why do you say that. at no moment we have shown cowarness our soldiers kept fighting until the end even when we had lost. they never, ever waved a white flag. ww2 for us was just a miserable defeat because of our crapy generals. the french are one of the bravest people in the world. why the fuck do you kep saying that I neer got it. we surrendered like the german surrendered and the japanese surrendered. its not a big deal

  • @fra2603 no you gave up Paris without a fight. instead you should have garrisoned the whole city and armed every citizen and soldier to bog the nazi army down in to a city battle.

  • @DiverseLA don't you have any respect for the people who permitted your country to exist? thomas jefferson said "every man as two countries, is own and france". if your ancestors saw you they would be ashamed you patheticly ignorant moron

  • @fra2603 france is an islamic country. you have bigger things to worry about.

  • @fra2603

I should apologize for my Francophobic countryman-- most of us fully appreciate the significance of French aid to the revolutionary cause. Hopefully we can continue to work together for many years to come.

  • @fra2603 QWe won,t be allies with Americans for much longer,to much hate between us.

  • Stop living in the past every country done something ther'e not proud of and yes i am English.

  • all i heard was "WASHINGTON RETREATED" gorilla tactics much ???

  • your lucky we did not send our main army against you commanded by wellington, you would have been completely fukd, america call it a war but they used gorilla tactics, they hit run and hide, the real war was on the battlefield of waterloo, if we sent our entire army over to america then the french would have taken britain, we was at war with half the world then, one on one we would destroy america no problem what so ever, the french have always been the thorn in britains side.

  • i love all these these thing about the revolition can you make a video of the land fight

  • lol, halyfax

  • We got really lucky in the Revolutionary war because most british troops were in europe and over seas fighting the french. if they werent fighting the french we probably wouldve lost. thanks french

  • @mclovin1995100 pas de problème! ; ) no problemo

  • @mclovin1995100 as a québécois I best like and respect the american revolutionnaries than the brits loyalists. but I wonder what would had become of us, if we'd joined the U.S..,

we would probably have lost our language like the U.S done with french lousianna...

  • Ok, a free lecture. tnx, ur just like my history professor.

  • @DamnControl2 Anytime brother.

  • British vs Spain-Fracnce and Yanks

Not fair + we had an empire to build and rule. America wernt nothin big.

  • Dont forget the dutch

  • The Colonist back in those days were HEAVILY TAXED AND MANIPULATED by Great Britain. After a while the Colonist had had enough and wanted their independence. They were sick and tired of being 2nd rate civilians who had no say so in regards in how they lived e.c.t

You are indeed correct ... back in the day America was nothing to brag about and when up against the then worlds superpower Great Britain .... they needed all the help and support they could muster.

  • Great Britain was fighting a War no other Nation could. Even against the Odds on nearly every Battle, we still Faught even when Supplies were Dwindling through two months of Sailing. The British Soldiers Showed Bravery, Valour and there Proud Colours against Troops fortified and Supported by Hills and Bunkers, Void of Honour.

  • @nortynine. Like your pictures of Ships of the line on your web site. My family served, one ancestor held the rear guard at Braddock defeat,Virginians, another was the "Master of the Horse during the French and Indian war. Lots of the family were in it. The American Revolution was a family affair. John Bull American cousin Jonathan are still pals. Hell even our battle flags show Saltaire and St George,Scotland and England. The Queen and Chucky and Diana Spencer are my 15th cousins or so

  • Stand behind a tree, or in a field. You mistake Honor with stupidity! If Britain would have given the colonies representation this would have never happen. GLAD IT DID!!!!!

  • groundhogsmovement,it is very much looking like we have lost it or it is sliding out of our grips..

  • Yes, Americans are giving away their freedom for safety.

  • "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

    Abraham Lincoln

  • @GroundHogsMovement OORAH!!

  • lets get it straight-For every British death in action their were three colonial deaths. . The British won more battles. The British withdrew due to pressure from France and the rise of Napoleon B.The French and free masons financed the colonists. The British burned the white house in 1812 while winning major battles at waterloo and trafalgar at the same time. The colonists declared independance in 1776.

  • Nice stat too bad its not true....Casualties and losses

~25,000 killed (u.s) ~27,294 killed (British forces).O and Napoleon was still in school when the revolution ended so your statement is a load of bull. plus britan was peeing itself before traflagar cuz napoleon was goin to invade. as for the war of 1812 britan lost a humilliating loss at new Orleans to a country that barley formed yet. and during the rev britan was losing the war before france joined otherwise the french wouldnt hav joined.

  • I would like a source on any statistic a US citizen provides. Source please.

Napoleon was a problem but so was Imperial France-their revolution 1789 had major impact on GB,

The US chose 1776 as a date for independence but many battles took place after this.

You needed the French-no question,so dont start all this bollocks about 16 year old farmers "doing it" we ve heard it all before.

The 1812 attack on your capital and white house demonstrated GBs willingness to defend Canada ctd

  • ctd

The new US wanted to remove all British influence in N Americaand Canada was probably going to be invaded. This attack on washington stopped this in its tracks.

New Orleans was an attack on a fort which occured after peace was made. But I will give the yankees credtit-they invented terrorism and urban warfare, which caused a conventional army problems.

yankees then were British colonists-thats why you call it a "revolution"-but I cant see anything -one elite replaced another

  • your just mad you couldn't beat a weak new army. i would be embarrassed too. atleast the wars we lost, our casualties was no where near the enemies.

  • the mortality rate between colonists and crown troops was in the crowns favour-thats why the colonists invited the French (and Spanish and Dutch) to help. This brought the mortality rate to about even.

  • im talking about the war we lost. and we needed the french help, cause we never had a navy like the british.

  • It may have escaped you -but Navies are limited to the oceans-the colonists fought the British Army, and were loosing.Hence the invitation to the French,Spanish,Dutch and your employment of a Prussian general.

  • the navy has control of trade by sea and can travel faster than by land.

  • @toonmag50 I'll assume the comment that we invented terrorism and urban warfare was made tongue in cheek. I used to buy into the idea that the US won with guerrilla tactics but it seems that the US used conventional tactics more often than the patriot myths allow. We def had our citizen farmer soldiers who were expert with rifle shooting but mostly it seems we played it European style. Check individual battle histories rather than history books that regurgitate the same bad info ad naseum.

  • @warscholar1945 -terrorism which the yankees used does not beat industrialised armies-other armies do-hence the yankees invitation to the french, spanish, dutch and prussians.Yankees are not bionic or superhuman-get down off your pedestal. The vietcong used terrorism

  • @warscholar1945 ctd-the vietcong used terrorism on you yankees but you lost against the north vietnamese forces-backed by china and the ussr-a combination of conventional powers-sound familiar yankee boy?-the only difference was the vietnamese did not betray their own people, culture and almost language

  • @toonmag50 I have no idea what you're arguing about. What high horse are you talking about? I actually agreed with your earlier point that we used European military personnel and European style tactics to fight against the British. I didn't say we didn't use terrorism and urban warfare. I'm saying that in no way did we invent it. Isn't the North's use of Chinese troops and wapons against the South Vietnamese a betrayal of their own people?

  • @warscholar1945 The North Vietnamese did take help from the Chinese and the USSR but their armed forces in combat were Vietnamese.Unlike the yankees who scrapped around digging up every rival and enemy of Britain to help, and actually accepted direct military intervention from France,Spain and Nlands. The yankees sold out their culture, history, honour, and almost language for false promises from the free masons

  • @warscholar1945 Rule Britannia!

  • @toonmag50 Oh shut the fuck up you limey, missing tooth, faggoty sounding British fuck face bastard.

  • @Heidibear76 -noo there me yankee marra noo ho ye taarkin aboot with a heemesex accent-am a Geordie-speekin propa English-ya bollock heed

  • @toonmag50 You seem bitter that Britain was defeated by the US. Quit crying and get over it.

  • @DiverseLA do you not understand that it wasnt a real war if it was we would've sent the whole our forces down to he us n fucked you up since only a fourth of our army was in the u.s n since you needed help from france, spain n holand an we were in war with half the world n i meen propa war when ya send troops to echovers country and that fourth of our army was already in the u.s because we owned the u.s if britain treated it like a real war would have destroyed you and you would still own u.s

  • @xGODsBANDITx Yeah quit crying. You lost.

  • @DiverseLA it wasnt you france holland and spain helped you and only a fourth of our army was in america since n it wasnt a real war because you didnt do anythink to our country, did you, now answer me that question, what you guna say to that smart fukin ass. also answer this there was on 1 fourth of our army there I admit you would crush us in modern combat but at the time we were the srongest force in the world

  • @DiverseLA so as I was saying only a fourth of our army was in america what meens the british wernt treating it as a real war sorry but you needed 3 other countries to help you... spain france holland america vs a quarter britains army ...seems very fair ;)..not plus we would have beat all four of you if we sent the other 3 quarters of our army admit it..common you just about won against a quarter of our army with help from other countries so u wouldnt have been able to haddle all of our army

  • @DiverseLA -I think you yankees have experienced a few opinions from the "other side". -perhaps its a little refreshing for you. Remember when yankee land needs help you can always call on your mates the French. (or perhaps the Spanish, oh no wait -try the Dutch)

  • @toonmag50 you know what to do when limey lands in touble, call the yanks, they will protect you from the germans, french, russians, irish, and spanish.

  • @patrioticaction

not true, we brits were fighting the germans alone for more than 2 years, before you came in,and that was only when germany declared war on usa, always remember, usa wouldnt exist without us,we gave your culture, language, and tradtiions

  • @toonmag50 the revolutionary war that is taught in american schools is not taught without bias. americans are taught falsely that the colonies were invaded by a "foreign" army.

  • @NYhistorian and history appears to show the colonists ultimately lost more in the long run, than they gained in the short term. - indeed the so-called revolution is a sham.

  • @toonmag50 i mean the years following the revolution were unstable but it was a time of revision of the new form of government. by 1800 the US will see 2 centuries of growth and prospering. the US you see today, washington to florida, california to maine, 300 million people living within these borders. that is the legacy of the revolutionaries.

  • @paulinotou -all well and good, but the Canadians have the same per capita income,as the US , and on international assessments a better quality of life. However,in addition they maintained honour, tradition, allegience and reliabllity their history and culture.

  • @toonmag50 the canadian are a great people, i got two good canadian friends that i hang with at school. but lets face it, on the world scale, the US made its presence known considering we started out as a colony on the east coast. both in good and bad ways.

  • @toonmag50 I dunno about that. The US benefited from the separation because they could manage their own interests and exploit their vast vast resources for themselves, and look at where they are today. However, i do believe it was selfish. Essentially the UK conceived and brought up America, and then when the UK asked for a little back, America turned around and said, fuck you.

  • @N330AA mirth-so the US was forged through selfishness-it appears your legacy lives on .

  • @toonmag50 That's very true but we never pretend otherwise.

  • @warscholar1945 -Indeed I am impressed with your arrogance my fine yankee friend-yet again that strut comes through in your language.

I think you will find a three to one ratio mortality rate in GBs favour with yankees. The ratio is about 1.1. when including the French Imperial troops.

  • 27000 were not killed. it is fact that the british lost more men due to disease than by combat. so you mean 27000 DIED. not killed:)

  • every one had disease in there army.

  • Yep American Indians fought for both sides :P

  • Libertytreeradio for more vides on youtube to find out what is going on.

    Ne Copula Nobiscum!

    MGK/GDW!

  • Let me see if I can put the taxing in perspective. Let's say that today the British Parliament were to decide to disband all members of Parliament from Scotland and Ireland, but they continued to tax and make laws for them. How do you think that would go over?

Or if you're American, let's say Congress decided that only California or Massachussetts needed to be represented in Congress and were more than capable of taxing and making laws for everyone else. I side with the Americans.

  • But the taxes were also put in place in Britain to,the Stamp act is a tax that the British still pay today on many items.

  • good job bud

  • Colonists took Ticonderoga? No Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold took it!

  • english colonies discovered "so to be called ameria " in 1459 so all americans are decends of the united kindom as the names are almost the same "united kingdom, united states" so the united knigdom are to this day still ruleing ameria cos are people own it so other words there are no such thing as "american people" the same with australian people the united kingdom sent there crimanls over so still english colonies so all i got to say it that the united kingdom it the best country still

  • You stupid twat of a limey bastard. Learn how to speak and write in your native tongue. How high were you when you posted this shit?

  • whats the fuckin point in insulting each other. i'm english and got no problem with you americans, dunno wats with limey bastard and all that..

  • so in your theory there is no such thing as a united kingdom or british people. Britan was invaded by rome and mass murder and rape took place, then again by vikings and saxons and more. So all british people are decendands of romans and norwegians etc. There is no pure british blood left. Its watered down throug centeries of rape.

  • Then what does that make you? LOL fail

  • Probable the same thing as you nimrod.

  • As a native, I have to make some [pronunciation] corrections. Halifax is not pronounced Haly-fax; it is pronounced Hala-fax. Next. This drives me crazy.. Concord is not pronounced Con-Cord; it is pronounced Con-curd or Con-cud.

  • Warscholar1945: You completely neglected to mention the Battle of Long Island, the first major and largest battle of the Revolutionary War (August of 1776, right after the Declaration of Independence).

  • Never mind, it's there, sorry, missed it the first time. Maybe organizing the battles into their conventional campaigns would be helpful for people?

  • /sigh... were learning about the American Revolution in Year 12 History.. I still have NO CLUE what happened.. and we expected to right an essay on what we know, which isn't very much, does anyone know any good sites that will tell me EVERYTHING and ANYTHING on the American revolution?

  • i wonder can american won their freedom if they used the Ghandi Approach, instead of violence ???

  • NO, but why does everyone even in other countries study this War? why aren't they studying the first Revolutionary War in history?

  • In a way Britian turned out to be a winner from the war of independence I know I sound biased there (I'm British) but even though they had lost the war they gained a lot from it and they were able to concentrate more on India and Africa and they might not have defeated Napoleon if they had to send troops to guard the colonies, and it was after the Napolienic wars that Britian became the worlds superpower until 1918. So it stood to gain a lot from a defeat

  • Im american and you seem to make a lot of sense. had all of Europe lost to Napolean...who knows

  • no the real way Britain won the revolution is that they lended the colonies the money for the way and even after us americans (cos i was there) won the debt was bigger blow ..... i think i might have been john adams but im not sure but this person said something like "there are two ways to enslave a nation, one is by the sword and the other is by debt."

  • I really like that thought bro.. think you're right

  • Very good lesson well put.

  • Please remember, as you describe it, the "British" sound like a foreign occupying power. Americans at the time considered themselves British. Paul Revere, never said, "The British are coming!", He said, "The regulars are coming!" This is an eerie likeness to our situation today with USA turning into a police state and MILITARY controlling the people in public spaces. This is something the founders where quite clear, warning about. Your own countries military coming after the citizenry. Terifying

  • haha, too bad most of the people in the United States are German descent, in the U.S. there are 51m Germans, and 36m British, one thing is though that the Brits are mostly Germanic since English is Germanic descent even though it uses the Latin Alphabet

  • Mexicans are catching up though. They want the whole country to be like Tijuanan.

  • That's not the point. At the time, they we were a British colony. Most of 'us' were British. The Germans (Bavarians) came later. The numbers you listed are natural over time as most people won't stay 100% ancestral blood over 12 generations. I have English/Scot & German blood myself. 51m pure Germans in USA are unlikely. We're all mutts now.

The point is that a people's own military was coming after the citizenry. Who those people were is irrelevant.

  • Who cares? We're Americans, not German or English or whatever.

  • I think its funny how the British all lined up in lines to shoot and we the Americans just ran over their little homo lines. If not for Americans wars today would still all be fought over open land and in a bunch of lines.

  • Would everybody stop bashing eachother! Americans and Brits have long been friends and thats the way our founding fathers wanted it. They wanted to keep trading with the Brits after the American Revolution and the Brits wanted the samething with the Americans. World War 1 and 2 were both victories where we workd together and samething with the Gulf War

  • wow...... just wow... americans on youtube are rating down every british comment.. ok then i'll rate down the american comments

  • But for France us yanks would still be singing God save the Queen. Facing "certain defeat" to British yanks went to Paris 4 times begging to be bailed out. France led by LAFAYETTE liberated america..treaty in Paris. As result he was named honorary US citizen (only 1 of 7 ever..Chuchill is another)

1812 the Brits kicked our ass again as we tried to take Canada and were defeated..the Brits then marched to Capitol Hll and also burnt down the White House.. then raised British flag over Washington

  • well no duh they did for their own gain Ruslana what the hell would be the point of fighting a war if there was no chance at gaining something war would be pointless! The French were also looking for revenge for losing their colonies. Personally the Americans should have been very grateful towards the prussians because of their alliance with Britain during the seven years war

  • well ruslana u have to understand why the french didnt wanted to get involve in this war at first ... remember that some years earlier both colonials and british invaded New France and took out the French colony. so u have to understand the Frenchs. they didnt really wanted to get involve in a conflict between english ppl

  • Are 5th and 6th greatgrandfathers (and uncle) fought their ass's off. They died on ship's as POW's, starved to death, froze to death and these ungrateful foreign bastards don't care. Are own GOVERMENT does'nt give a damn. They all love are country, freedoms and jobs an that's it. They don't give a DAMN about are past or who fought and died so we could have a U.S.A.

  • Shut up you filthy scum. You are nothing more than a product of Great Britain. You are filthy colonists living in a land once infested by savages known as the Indians. You damn scum need to stop butchering our language.

  • I don't understand people like you. You call the US scum yet you live there and take advantage of the rights that it gives you. Move if you don't like it!

  • Stealth man,

    Your the filthy scum

    They havent butchered anything

Its an accent, as English is accented allover the planet

And this video is VERY inaccurate,

In fact, Its WRONG in several places, did this guy learn his history from kindergarden

  • I have no doubts I understand military history much better than you. Want to give examples of what's kindergarten about the video or is this one of these random nasty comments made from in front of a computer terminal?

  • CUNT

  • The American independence was made possible because some unexpected events, but played a key role as the famous fog that saved the army of George Washington.

Without these events, the British would win. If you look at these events, will reach the conclusion that someone "imponderable factor" like an independent America.

  • At american Revolutionary War yanks faced "certain defeat" to the British...

...and "It is a War america could not have survived without French assistance".. ONLY reason the French bailed out yanks (yes Spanish & Dutch helped too) wasn't kindness to america but because French were terrified of British Empire.

Although the French liberated america..and only small % of British troops were involved, the British later gained revenge over the French notably Duke of Wellington defeated Napoleon.

  • Please, the Americans asked the French for assitance four times. They only agreed to assist once it was fairly certian that the Americans would win, though it is true that the French despised for their political dominance and they did it only for their own gain.

  • They never asked!

  • yup hey our own benjamin franklin went off to france in quacker fur jacket and asked for a alliance...and one reason why they helped us because they already had rivalry with england

  • though the british did defeat napoleon they werent looking for revenge....napoleon was a evil and very very ill person......he nerly took the entire europe......the british had no choice but to fight napoleon he almost took russia but he couldnt stand the weather so they fell back but yea..........congratz to the british at defeating him at Waterloo

  • the brits woul've lost at waterloo is the germans didn't reinforce them during the battle

  • It was quick, but where is the dirty part? No topless chicks or anything!

  • dude this is history not porn....-_-

  • stuped dumb fuck lol

  • your awsome man thank you!

  • The war was not only fought against the British but against Native Americans and Prussians on one side and Colonists with France and Spain on the other. Years later during 1890's America embarked on a policy of colonisation of its own resulting in the decimation of native American tribes. Indeed many native Americans fled to (British) Canada and were welcomed with the full support of Queen Victoria.

  • Revolutionary War...

1776 - 90% of all gunpowder supplies imported from France..who semi secretly had been involved from the get-go...and not because of any friendship with america rather it ONLY because they were terrified of the British Empire

Auguest 1776 - British captured New York, September 1777 Philadelphia.

The British had overwhelming naval superiority over the American colonists, so the War at Sea was solely British and French fleets. Without the French america wouldnt exist.

  • The Americans did most of the on foot fighting and wooped those Brits asses!

  • that was because of the americans constant ambushing and guerilla tactics in line battles we wouldnt have a chance

  • There were Native Americans who fought on the American side as well. Prussia was not an ally of the British. Perhaps you're thinking of the various countries in what is now Germany, i.e. Hessen-Kassel.

  • The English were not wrong. The Colonists wanted to extend west but the British Government was against this as they did not want any conflict with the Indigenous people. They also knew they could not fight and win a war over such distance. ( not rocket science even in 1775 ). Most Native Americans ( Indigenous people) opposed the United States, since native lands were threatened by expanding American ( Colonial ) settlements and the Indigenous people knew their lands would be under threat.

  • The british involvement in the Revolutionary War was a halfhearted effort, due to an unwillingness to commit themselves financially when they were so much in debt. The Americans were able to successfully defeat the Britons because of a lack of adequate communications between the commanders actually in battle, and those back in Great Britain, where the war was considered a secondary priority by the government. America had around six countries who fought with them against the britsh.

  • I heard that the Founding Fathers wanted to extend west into native country but the king years ago made a offer to the natives because of how kind they were to the pilgrims to not go any further west and set up trade routes with them which they lived in peace but this did not go down well with the rich colonists who wanted more and so blamed taxes for independence even tho those taxes were benefiting you country we know what happened next killed women children this is not in your history books

  • If your refering to the indians then yes many were slaughted because the Europeans considered dark-skinned people to be less than human. Therefore they felt that since those people didn't live according to the customs of the white Europeans they weren't protected from exploitation.

  • But they were doing well under the British and many rich colonial revolutionaries were corrupt smugglers (witch played havoc on the economy for the people) all the British wanted was for the corruption to end and wanted the people to pay taxes(witch up until then was payed by the British people) for the protection from the french who wanted to take over the Americas and force its people out they were not always pals with you not until the end where they saw profit modern historians buried this

  • I think what you're referring to is the law that forbade colonization past the appalachian mountains. There were growing conflicts between settlers and Native Americans, so this was simply to try and end it. However, the French settlers already there were allowed to stay.

  • see phillitupp comments above

  • Right, except it was less about helping the Native Americans and more about not wanting to deal with the problem.

  • Describing the colonists as these rich people who were simply greedy does a diservice to history. What's unique about the American Revolution is that it crossed the social boundaries. There were rich smugglers, but there were also tradesmen and artisans. The taxes may have benefited them, but I doubt you would relinquish England's right to vote and subject yourself to laws you had no say in even if it was for your own good.

  • forgot about Dunmore's posturing in VA, DEC 1775, Battle of Great Bridge...

  • I'm a patriotic Englishman and I'm happy to admit that Britain was in the wrong here. Interestingly our then leader, King George III was actually insane. We didn't get another mad leader until Thatcher!

And what a waste of all that tea! You could have had that tea at midday with clotted cream and scones

  • The English were not wrong. The Colonists wanted to extend west but the British Government was against this as they did not want any conflict with the Indigenous people. They also knew they could not fight and win a war over such distance. ( not rocket science even in 1775 ).

  • p.s. King George III was not insane. But ill he suffered from porphyry an illness that affects the skin and nervous system.

As for Thatcher I would could not or would not put a convincing argument against your opinion
