Royal has the league lead in interceptions with 14 in the regular season and 3 more in the playoffs, shattering a team record. he also finished second in pass breakups with 43 and came in third in the af2 in tackles with 117 also 1st in int return yds, 1st in int return TDs (3). 3 TFL, 3 FF and 2FR , Royal had 3 ints vs. Former NFL star Quincy Carter and the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings in a 50-28 victory. Royal also made the 2007 1st team all AF2 list.
August 17, 2007 - AF2 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers' DB CHRIS ROYAL has been named the 2007 Spalding Rookie of the Year, as selected by a vote of arenafootball2 head coaches and media members.
Royal, a 5'10", 205-pound product from Marshall, led the nation in ints. as a senior at South Lakes High School, and did the same at Marshall is at it again having a tremendous rookie campaign for the Pioneers, positioning himself at the top of several key statistical categories.
The false step he is talking about is when a WR has wasted movements or steps when running his routes, especially on your breaks (or cuts). Why is this bad? Because a good cornerback could use that to his advantage because wasted movements can overall slow you down or even worse telegraph your movements
Yeah um, he also doesn't play receiver. Never has, probably never will. He played Quarterback in high school. He was a great one. He played defensive back in college. He was even better at that. He played defensive back in AF2. Led the league in interceptions, and was named Rookie of the year. Thanks for coming out.
