That's probably the most interesting science project I've ever seen. I have an aussie so I was especially pleased with your Conclusion! thanks for sharing
Wow! I have 2 Aussies and have always wondered that. My dogs are "city" dogs and I'll bet they do that instinctively. Thanks for posting your project. You are my hero!
What a great science project!. I hope you had fun learning what true instinct really is. Maybe you'll even take Napolean to herding school where he can fine tune that natural skill of his.
great to see this. I'm from holland. but I don't have someone with sheep to look if my aussie has this sheep herding instinct he has it with my son. if he runs away he tackles him or passes him by and holds him back
My Aussie's INSTINCT led her to chase EVERYTHING that moved. Going to the beach was terrible. Joggers were accosted by the BARKING herder. She is now trained and now appears to ignore people on the beach. Oh, loves it when I herd up the garbage and head for the recycling cans...poor thing, she does what she can given her present living situation. :-)
A lot of Aussies are born with a bobbed tail, I have one, he was born with a short tail, so most of the time it is not cruel owners, just nature. You probably already know that, and just like to see them with a long tail...... Anyway I thought I should mention it.....Also great video!!!
I had to explain to my little sisters what instinst was and I also think this video helped. Also good job, I hope you got an A+++ on it! :) I know from personal experience its instinct! When I had an Aussie/German Shepard mix it would me and my friends into the corner of the yard!
Great project and video kiddo! Ive had a few Aussies in my life and the pup I have now would try to herd us when he was a baby. We love them, hyper as they may be : )
Wonderful hypothesis. However, for more statistically relevant conclusions, I would suggest a larger sample size. This will help with your standard error computations.
Excellent and informative! An Aussie knows to do that before even seeing sheep for the first time? Until now I only thought that the Border Collie had that kind of an instinct. Time to rethink about the Aussie.
I can see this was some time back! But still, a super job, A Plus! You have a very nice dog!

I just adopted a dog and I'm trying to figure out what breed he is and he keeps herding other dogs! I think he's part Aussie Shepard.
I enjoyed your scientific experiment!

Very nice job. Love the sound effects, and Napoleon was looking pretty good toward the end. :)
Steve, some Aussies are still bred to be effective working dogs. Just have to find the right lines.
