@culanap I consider my self a recruit. Its part of my conditioning for basic. Are you going into the United States Marine Corps? and if so where is your recruit training going to begin?
Well, you can consider yourself one, but I'm just saying technically you don't become a recruit til boot camp. I'm going to MCRD San Diego January 3 as a PFC.
There are several ways you can sign the contract to go in as a PFC. For me, I have 15 college credits that are course level 100's and up with a GPA of at least 2.33. Other ways you can go in as PFC is to refer 2 people and be an Eagle scout.
Hey good to hear about that man, you'll be doing a bunch of PT. During boot you can get promoted by simply "excelling". Do good on rifle shooting, be squad leader, things like that. I have an older brother currently in the USMC that convinced me to join, and I've always wanted to join the military. Yourself?
@culanap Mainly wanting to serve my country to the best of my ability. Other reasons are following a friend of mine into the Corps, making a better life for my self, learning new skills, breaking away from a mother that can be over protective. The money is alright, but if I was going in for the money I would go for Navy or Air Force. Plus my dad served in the U.S. Navy and so did the rest of the men in my family. PM me if your curious about more of it; cant fit it all in here.
@culanap I remember my son telling me at his bootcamp graduation that as boots they were told: "You are a recurit, you are boots on the ground...you are nothing, you are less than nothing." Sounded harsh to me but my son said that when that same drill instructor pinned on his eagle, globe and anchor, it was his biggest accomplishment, to earn that man's respect. Fightingfalcon will learn that in time.
Hey there, I just graduated bootcamp yesterday actually and I must say it was the best 3 months of my life even though you're treated like garbage. Yeah, drill instructors will treat you harshly at first but once you receive the EGAs, you become their fellow Marines and that was probably the best feeling I've ever gotten in my life (your son can back me up on that). SEMPER FI!
that actually made me cry. hoep your borther,son,and all the otherthings he is comes home safe,a nd you spend many more years building memories that will last a life time!! god bless you and your fmaily and stay strong!
This was made by my daughter for her brother who is a United States Marine and she loves and misses him so very much!Please pray for the families who have loved ones in the Military.

You're not a recruit.

@culanap Yes I am. I have signed papers and gone through the process of it all. I leave November 1st.

@fightingfalconfan
No, you're not. You're in the DEP, therefore you're a poolee and you don't become a recruit until you're in boot camp,
