  • I have windows 7 64x, I would run the cmd and get "adb server is out of date. killing...", so i uninstalled Droid Explorer... and now, it shows my Samsung Infused device attached. My question..... Is there another way to do the screencast other than Droid Explorer?

  • @RescuePits1 - I got it!! I completed your cmd instructions, then reinstall DE. Its working now!

  • i dont get it -_-

  • My phone used to be rooted, but the screen broke after the update and before I could reroot it. I can't seem to root it again (I assume it isn't in charge mode). Is there a way that I can get it into charge mode? The digitizer and screen are both busted so I can't see anything or interact in any way (except power, vol up/down)...Thanks!

  • My touchscreen is broken and I cannot enable debugging mode, but I'm rooted. Is there a way to remotely enable debugging on my phone?

Also, I'm having problems running the ADB command.

  • at the end of the droid install I get a error and it wont finish install. Im tring to work on my samsung galaxy s continuum lcd went black phone still work cdm detects it any ideas?

  • can´t run the adb devices :( why???

  • Thank You, this is all i was looking for , thanx again

  • Setting your dalvik cache to world read/write is pretty retarded. You might as well hold up a big sign on the street corner saying STEAL MY DATA.

  • when i type su it says access denied

  • Does anyone know if this is possible without rooting your phone?

  • What IF Your Screen IS messed up

  • I am in USB Debugging Mode, I'm rooted with Cmod7, I have android-sdk-windows extracted on my root directory (Drive C) and when I open Droid Explorer, it is telling me it can't find my phone. I'm using an HTC Evo 4G. Does this only work with Samsung devices? Is there an alternative?

  • Hello Josh !

I have a problem doing this, when i put in the location of the android-sdk-windows to the cmd, it says that it is not recognised as an internal or external command so i went to comuter properties and advanced settings then i clicked the environment variables and then i clicked new and named it PATH and pasted in the location of android-sdk-windows, but it didnt work.. what should i do ? i can see my phone screen but i cant do anything else

  • so the phone needs to be connected to the pc via usb....?

    no wifi....?

  • i think this can be done without rooting also, when i was trying App Inventor i did this USB Debugging setting and i think i was able to view my phone screen on the comp, don't remember exactly how i did it though

  • yep - I get the screen upside down as well - any fix for that??

  • How could I unlock my phone (with a broken digitalizer) ? Is there a code?

  • Thank you so much! I can now text my girlfriend during WoW raids and she won't get pissed off that I take too long to reply :L

  • hi mobiletechvideos, your video is extremely helpful right till the end, when u click screen cast and your android screen pops up. Everything was fine, until a Java windows popped up instead of the android screen when i clicked screen cast, saying theres a security exception, ULRmalfunction, socket. Do you have any idea what went wrong? Should I uninstall my Java and reinstall it? I followed everything regarding your instructions, but it just didnt work out in the end =(

  • how do i input the alt key? plz help :(

because i'm using german keyboard and i don't know where the english special keys are (!"§$%&/()=?*'_:;) or how to type umlaute (äöü)

  • this is so awesome but, is it posible to make to more fast? lol its to laggy >.>

  • this doesnt work.. it cant detect my phone.. and when i click "I cant see my device", it tells me to go on my phone and do a bunch of shit.. Yeah thats great.. Too bad I cant do that because the whole point of this is because the screen is cracked..

  • Instead, install Android vnc server. Faster rr, and works over wifi.

  • Followed your steps, worked perfectly! Thank you :)

  • I have followed every single step but.. when it loads the screen, I can see my android "up side down"...

    Why?????

    Thanks

  • @Aristarxos85

I got the exact same problem!

    ZTE Blade Gen. 2 (CM7.03)

  • Ugh, the refresh rate is WAY to slow to make this even worth it. The problem is the way the the software is grabbing the screen. It's constantly polling for a new "screen shot" which is like a 1mb file completely uncompressed.

    Great how-to though. Thanks.

  • why do you have your desktop pic as the bullring in england?

  • Does it work for Samsung devices only or all android devices.

  • Most people should have java, if you don't have java what are you some type of cave man or a toothless hill billy living in some hill billy shack on the side of a hill?

This is what you should have said.

  • I have it up and running but when I click to move the screen (on phone) it does nothing. none of the buttons work on the bottom either...

  • hey can you make a video on all the other stuff you can do with droid explorer? i dont know what all this is but some of it could be cool like the screencaster thing

  • Worked perfect. Thanks! My only complaint is how slow the refresh rate is on screencast. But hey, At least it works.

  • Hey Josh,

first off amazing job in all your videos, thank you so much for what you do.

I have two questions, is there anyway to improve the refresh rate? and when i use the record function and i play the video back its like 3x speed. is there any way to slow this down?

  • First off, thank you for providing this (and the other videos as well). I've followed the instructions to a T, yet for some reason when I open Droid Explorer, it's not showing a list of files like it is on yours. I've installed the SDK tools, even changed the directory to c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools (where my adb ended up). I did the adb devices command and it showed I was connected properly. The screencast works, just not seeing the files list. Anything I'm missing still?

  • Ok I got it....ended up being that I need to cd to platform-tools....that was where the adb.exe was.....finally got it working....COOL!!! Thanks again

  • @scottmac019 Ahhhhh. Yes this requires you download the sdk files. I'm going to make a video today for what it means when people talk about the sdk file to folks understand what they are and where to put them and why they are important.

Here is a link. Download this, open the zip and extract them to the root of your c drive...

  • @MobileTechVideos I am not seeing a link to the zip....

  • @scottmac019 Sorry I had to post it in the more info section. They won't allow links in regular comments. Check the more info section.

  • @MobileTechVideos ok got them....extracted to C: drive...but when I try to run the adb it says it is not a recognizable command

  • @MobileTechVideos I am not seeing a link to the zip....

  • @MobileTechVideos I am not seeing a link for the zip...am I missing something or did you forget to put it in?? LOL

  • @MobileTechVideos How are you attempting to run the adb commands though? Are you opening a command prompt, then changing to the directory of the tools folder, then trying to run adb devices to verify your phone is connected?

  • @MobileTechVideos yes....as soon as I put in adb it just says it is not a recognizable command....am I supposed to run the android sdk and avd manager program in that zip file??

  • @MobileTechVideos Tell you what, let me just make a video on how to download, extract and then use the SDK w/ adb commands. I'll have it up sometime in the next few hours. :)

  • @MobileTechVideos Ok thank you so much for taking the time to do this for us....

  • I think that's the problem...I don't have an "android-sdk-windows" directory...

  • I think the problem is I don't have that directory. Is there something I need to install on the Laptop to install that directory for the tools?

    Thanks

  • @scottmac019 So you don't have the adb.exe file? I've seen it end up in other places of the SDK with the newer packages. I'd do a quick search in the android-sdk-windows directory for adb and then move any files you find to the tools directory as thats the easier place. See my one click root video for android 2.1 as I contained a link to a batch file for a different tutorial that just happens to include the adb.exe and associated dlls.

  • @MobileTechVideos Is it possible to use ScreenCast or equivalent over WiFi or any internet connection?

  • @scottmac019 ah ok....thanks for the quick responses...

  • I have my captivate rooted. have sideloaded a few apps....but when I type the info into my command window it just shows that the path does not exist. Am I missing something? Is there something else I need to load in order to use the sdk tools?

    Thanks

  • @scottmac019 You need to switch to the directory where your SDK tools are at on your computer. When I opened my command prompt, I typed in:

    cd c:\android-skd-windows\tools

This changed my path of execution, so when I typed ADB shell, it launched adb.exe which is in the tools directory. I'm going to update the more info section to show this.
