i think i hear born of osiris in the backround. hey dude how much did that cost and wat pickups r those. i was gonna buy a jackson warrior from my deally that had symour duncan blackouts on it with a floyd rose. it was like $635 is that a good deal or wat bro. but nah i just thought i would ask u being as u got a jackson, r they any good
@dragon7fold It's never hard to find replacement parts with the internet, and rule #1 should be don't post advice if you really don't know what you're doing. :D
Hey man I got a question for you. I bought some new locking pads the other since I messed up the original ones. The one that goes over the 5th and 6th strings won't lock down. I almost have it set up thanks to your awesome videos! Keep up the good work!
@MaxMulisHa Yes, unlock it then tune it, but to fine tune it thereafter (since strings stretch after you tune them) then you use the fine tuners on the bridge itself.
@arthurhoe123 Now why would it do that? You're just re-stringing. Intonation can only change if you either mess it up, or if you change to a different set of strings that is much heavier or lighter than what the guitar has been intonated for.
i have ESP with Floyd Rose on it, and it takes forever to tune after i put new strings on it. I mean over 1,5 hour of tuning, before i starts to sound in tune! Is it something wrong with my Floyd Rose, or is it supposed to be that way?
so if i set it up to go to d standard tuning, if i drop my d to a c and keep the other strings the same, would i have to then go through the process of having to refloat the bridge. Thanks
No its not like that, I'm saying you can't change tunings "on the fly." You set the guitar up in one tuning and leave it in that tuning unless you are ready to re-float the bridge every time you change tunings. Its not a quick process either.
good video.the video is really useful. But 1 thing I don't understand what happens if bridge is not parallel to body? Does the floyd rose breaks down? And how much does those cleaners cost? Does the screw come with guitar because I only got wrench when I bought my guitar?
If the bridge isn't parallel, the action won't be set correctly. When floyds are set, they are ideally maintained at parallel. The fretboard oil is usually 5$, and 3 part cleaner sets for guitars is anywhere from $15-50 depending what brand you get and how big the set is. Which screw are you referring to?
Then how are you going to clean the fretboard off? You can only get it so perfectly tuned with the tuners, but after you lock it down then they're useless and you MUST use the fine tuners or find an allen wrench.
Are you trying to say you go to loosen them and they won't budge? Sometimes they can be very very hard to turn. Just put the short end of the allen wrench in there (all the way) and just give it a good strong try. It can require a good bit of torque.
Thank you! :)

what do you do with the fine tuners after raising them

When should I remove the battery that's supporting the FR?

hey, can u tune your floyd rose from standard E to standard D without removing the strings? if you can, can you please tell me?
crazyguitarmaniac08 9 months ago
You should make a video where you actually go through the tuning process.
rusher38 9 months ago
@rusher38 You should already know how to tune your guitar. There are too many tunings also.

@viperabs I meant make one to show people the annoyance of tuning with a FR

rule #1: Never over tighten your nuts
they do wear off and sometimes its a bitch to find the replacing parts

question! how many springs should i have in the back for 11 gauge strings??
frikinjeenyus 1 year ago
Thanks Mate! Just finished restringing my Jackson Kelly Star. First time ever for me and it went just great. Great walkthrough.
crazzir 1 year ago
Two things over tune your guitar so it's sharp then pull up and stuff on the bar.
2. When tuning floating tremolos if you go 6 5 654 6543 65432 654321 it takes about 2-3 times to get it in tune once you get the technique down. :)

viperabs 1 year ago
@viperabs Why won't the locking pad that goes over the 5th and 6th string close?!?!?!?!?!?! The pads are brand new!
megaluisdeth 1 year ago
@megaluisdeth I don't know, that's an awfully vague problem.
viperabs 1 year ago
hei. if all already intune we must lock ?
MaxMulisHa 1 year ago
@MaxMulisHa The purpose of the locks are to KEEP it in tune when you use the tremolo.
viperabs 1 year ago
@viperabs But if i restring i must unlock tht 3 nuts rite. then after i tune it. need to lock tight back ?
MaxMulisHa 1 year ago
@MaxMulisHa Yes, unlock it then tune it, but to fine tune it thereafter (since strings stretch after you tune them) then you use the fine tuners on the bridge itself.

how do you tight the tremolo arm??

Okay. so if i want to go from e to d without unlocking do i need to tune my e string to e flat?
kl0wn64 1 year ago
@kl0wn64 You need a D-tuna. Look it up, its an floyd-rose device that drop tunes you instantly.

pattexer 1 year ago
@pattexer Just get faster at tuning! I can tune up a floyd in under 2 mins. Using electronic tuners will hinder you bigtime.
viperabs 1 year ago
@pattexer tune in this order(6th is the lowest) 6,1,2,5,3,4

@emodudee Lets think about this: Same string, lower pitch means less tension. Less tension means the balance of the bridge will change. Answer: YES!

dude when i tune down the bridge goes back does that mean i have to adjust the bridge everytime i do this
funnymanify 2 years ago
Floating tremolos don't lend themselves to easy drop tuning unless you have a D-tuna.

can show how to intation of the floyd rose thanks you
guitar446 2 years ago
I need to buy the stuff you were using to clean the guitar and for the string life.
I normally change them one at a time but I was told a rag will also work if you change them all, like putting the rag under the bridge.
I'll need to do a full change like this to clean the guitar off.
JonSchaffer57 2 years ago
Yeah the DR stuff is $8-10, and the fretboard oil is $4. I don't recommend a lemon/citrus based cleaner because they're harsh on the fretboard wood.
viperabs 2 years ago
