Damn she's gorgeous! It kind of sucks that she's married, but if she's happy that's a good thing...definitely going to checkout that book that previously knew nothing about. Anyway...it's wild for whatever reason I feel like her features make her look Creole even though I now know that she just said she was part Danish.
I agree although all the words that describe us are iffy, it's one of the challenges we face as people of mixed half Black /White origin, even 'Bi-Racial' (although as you say it's better than Mulatto which equates us to animals) is still not that great a word that anyone wants to shout from rooftop, it's an awkward adjective/verb combo, not like 'Black' or 'White' which are single words, over here in the UK the term 'Mixed-Race' is favored but again, same problem, awkward.
Tiger really got bashed pretty hard, and it was not fair. If he prefers blonde ladies, then it really is his choice. Also, being “white” does not mean one is not “of color” How is white not a color? It is simply fair-skinned. However, not everyone we call white is necessarily very “light.”
Absolutely right, in fact nobody is really "white" or "black", it would be impossible for human skin to be, it's just either very pale or very dark, most people in the world are neither, as you say, some people who would be called "white" are actually not even anywhere near it, most intelligent and right thinking people regardless of what they are can see what a load of nonsense the whole concept of color is, it's long over due to be binned.
@proff180, even chessboards and chess pieces are refereed to as black pieces or black squares and whites pieces and white squares no matter what the colors really may be. Dark green is black; light green is white, for example.
If a person has parents who are one of each, then it really is up to her to consider whether she sees herself as both or more of one.
Government census bureaus, the news media, and Hollywood tend to sensationalize the differences and put us at one another’s throats.
Absolutely, also, I think when you're mixed (I am myself) you're existence kicks a hole in some peoples "reality", those who only want to see things in terms of 'black and white' don't know where to put us in their world, so either they have to amend their views when we're around or they avoid us altogether, deny our existance, this is why some hate us, because we put a question mark over their whole race/political belief system that they spent a longtime building up.
@proff180, It's just wild. How black must one be to be black? How white must one be to be white? It seems to be more than just an issue of genes. We just cannot choose who are parents will be. Therefore, as you mentioned, it seems to bother some when they cannot classify everyone into "exact" categories.
@mediaescapee 100% black african malian!! i know where Im from do you? pure black, no white in me, the first and last man on earth, mullattoes and whites are just a phase you'll disappear while the true inhabitants of earth will still reign...fuck mullatto:)

@travelingnomad1 I am fully black and for your information as everybody on earth came from a tribe in West Africa and most of the races descended from that tribe are still here I don't see mixed race people disappearing any time soon which is good. You can't be that proud of who you are or else you would not feel the need to look down on others to feel good about yourself. And so what if your 100% Malian, I mean so what!, you are a disgrace to your country with your views.
@mediaescapee aww are you upset? hehe stupid mutt lmao

Don't feel sorry for me you mutt! i know my culture and my people and love them. I'll be going back to mali and visiting my tuareg and fulani people soon! have you seen tuareg and fula women..gorgeous dark skin...not yellow and sickly like yourself.
Calm down TravelingNomad, If you have pride in your people and culture that's good, but you don't have to put down others just because they have yellow skin or white skin
@gatheringleaves yeah your right I shouldnl't put others down...but it happens in the real world everyone is putting others down..btw it's nomad with a 1:) that 1 is very important..i was people tuareg and fulani are nomads in africa....your american im guessing?
@travelingnomad1 You are a mean human being, treat people the same like you like to be treated, just leave people how they are and treat them like you want to be treated, I'm black and proud but why should you be entitled to say other people are minor than you, first of all that's racist and that's absolutely nonsence.
Tiff, I see in you a lot of things that (in my mind) are typical of white people. Does it mean that I "accept" you as (at least partially) white? Maybe. But I think that is not the point. I don't need to accept you as "one of us, White People", why should I? and I think a black person shouldn't have to accept you as "one of us, Black Folks". It's stupid. This is the XXI century and races are not segregated anymore (biracials are a good example of that).
@Poetamo well the obvious reality is many people are still segregated, they just do it by choice now (there are also economic reasons) , so the issue of "acceptance" is still relevant .
I actually was affronted that all his mistresses were white and I'm biracial too. It just feels like sometimes black or biracial men go after white women just because they're white and that's "beautiful".
@Canyadigit2 It has nothing to do with color. For one, most women in the US are white, so they have a major numbers advantage. Second, most of us have white mothers, and grew up around whites, so that's often who we feel comfortable and culturally compatible with.,
African-American, makes no sense at all. What are you going to call yourself if America is invaded by China and China wins? Afranese! We should stop adopting these terms that society drops on us.
@jneroo226 I agree with you in a perfect world we would all just be socially the same race. The skin deep differences would not divide us. But they do. As long as we live in a racialized world, and the monogenetic races have a definition, there will be people who do not neatly fit. Those people are biracial.
A personal observation of mine is that theses two have a different perspective then the majority of mulatto's. Most of whom are multi-generational and more than two races.
@BrendaQG The only thing dividing us are the Gentiles. (White People) Nonwhite people have not had the power to clasify themselves as anything but victims. Stick to terms that best reveal truth. Nonwhite should do the so called mulatto, biracial, mixed, just fine. The Gentiles do all the classification around here.
@BrendaQG No im not. That is what they call themselves. Gentleman, Gentrified, Gentrification, are you suggesting that these terms have absolutely no meaning? The nonwhite people that mistreat other nonwhite people is to be expected living in a system of White Supremacy. Oh but you think im crazy and the system doesn't exist. Yet, here we are having a conversation about race and their buffer class of people that they created. Gentiles are the problem. Peace
@jneroo226 I think you meant to say Gentry not Gentiles.
The word gentile means non-jewish person.
The word gentry means what you are saying.
Eitherway what you say is absurd. People label themselves. Just because someone says you are from China, even though you know you aren't, dose not make it so.
@BrendaQG I'm afraid you're incorrect. Check the etymology of the word. Please keep in mind that they lie. They practice deception all the time. The term "White" was adopted later and really doesn't convey the unity they demonstrate.
@jneroo226 No the word Gentile is a word used by jews to refer to non jews. The people you are describing are not "gentiles". You are describing wealthy land owners or the "landed gentry". Hence they talk about the "gentrification" of a neighborhood. That means the real estate becoming more expensive, and houses/condo's that the residents own. Instead of being area's where renters live.
@BrendaQG When have you ever heard a Jew refer to a so called White person as a Gentile? The so called Jew runs Hollywood and I have not seen a single movie that suggests that what you say is correct. The Jew and Gentile are one in the same. You just believe every thing they say because you are most likely a so called mixed person. You have mixed loyalties. Like many so called mixed people, you typically lean Gentile. I have never head a mixed person say Black Power.
#1: @BrendaQG You said it girl, it's not the White's these days that are attacking Biracial identity it's... (sorry to say cause I REALLY wish it wasn't this way) Black people that attack the Biracial people that chose to identify as what they are. It seems like to a lot of Black people Biracial identity is a personal attack against the Black race.
@BrendaQG #2: To A lot of Black people Biracial identity It's automatically taken as " Oh soooo you must think you're better than us" or... " You only identify as Biracial because you really want to be White."
@BrendaQG #3: To have that assumption made about you by Blacks is so irritating beyond belief. When speaking with "SOME" Blacks it feels like you're beating your head up against a brick wall trying to get them to see where you're coming from. In the words of Michael and Janet Jackson [ Don't it make you wanna scream Ahhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!! ]
@BiracialGirl1977 I know I know. My legal name is Hontas. As soon as I make my personal introduction my multiracial identitiy is known. That drives most black folks up the wall. Even the pronunciation (as in poca-hontas) escapes them. Even as I stand there with copper skin, freckels, and an Afro they just can't get it.
I must mention, some first generation mulatto's can be just as ignorant towards multigenerational mixed folks like me. People in glass houses should not throw stones.
@jneroo226 exscuse me but you should learn the meaning of gentile it means a person who is not jewish. therefore if you are asain black white or purple who are a gentile if you are not jewish.
@laala107 Are you obtuse? You have never even researched that word until I gave it to you. Now you know more about the word then I do? Please.... For the record also. Jewish is not a race of people but a religion. Why don't you read The Moses Mystery before you challenge me on that one as well. Gary Greenberg is the author. And yea, he's most like Jewish. (What ever that means)
@laala107 When have you ever heard a so called jew refer to a non-jew as a Gentile? They are one in the same. Gentiles (commonly called white-people) lie! The so called Jew and Gentile is one in the same. Just as the so called Jew and white person are one in the same. No difference in my book. I didn't call you any thing. I asked you a question. I will ask it again since I didn't get an answer. Are you obtuse?
Interesting... I'm surprised that so called mixed, biracial, multiracial, people just grab onto these terms without even considering what it really means. Mixed with what? Dog, cat... Running multiple races? Race is a social construct isn't it? I have been classified as Black by others but the term that describes me best is as follows; Earthling! I'm made of the Earth and concerned with Earthly matters. I never have a problem with this term. cont

@jneroo226 Did i say jewish is a race of people ... ? No i didnt !
What i said was gentile means a non-jewish peron regardless of their race.
BTW insulting people behind big words is still childish

I never have a problem with this term. cont

I loved these interviews, I found them right after I read her book. I am also half Danish (Mom Danish and my Dad was also an American GI) I identified with so much in the book! I can't wait til she comes out with another one!
PS excuse if I posted this twice, I am new to this. :)

I just listened to all 4 of your interviews with Heidi Durrow. Wonderful!!! Loved them and the book. I am also half Danish (Mom was Danish Dad an American GI just like Heidi) although I am "white" (whatever that means!) I identified so much with the book. I can't wait til she comes out with a new one. She is so insightful. It is a hope of mine that one day I get to correspond with her.
Thanks for posting these videos!!!
