  • i could kill a man...first time i hear this ...wow wow wow!!

  • Her voice is like velvet sex! I love how it's matured since her first recordings

  • Love this, I bought the cd for this and 4 others on it. Well worth the money and I can't stop listening to this one especially.

  • I've probably listened to this song a million times but I never tire of it!

  • I adore AK but haven't been crazy about these 2 together, I love this one tho...they blend so well.

  • Wow, incredible.

  • If this isn't slit your wrist country, I dunno what is... And I love it!!!

  • i had heard this song on pandora a while back but could not remember the name of the song after about a month and a half of trying to track the song down needless to say i finally found it..................... would have to say that it was worth the search

  • i love this song

  • What a sound. Two amazing talents combine, and the result is simply compelling, and beautiful.

  • This is just better all around than the original: the crystal purity of the lead vocals; the silky smooth backup vocals and the chilling "high-lonesome" backup parts; the stark minimalist accompaniment - all perfectly produced and recorded. Plant was in unusually clear & smooth voice - a perfect complement to Krauss. Such an achingly beautiful performance.

Krauss is a national treasure. In 20 years she'll eclipse all women vocalists with her style - Emmy Lou, Dolly, Patsy. Brilliant.

  • @jum1801 I think she alread has. Read up on her on wikipedia. You wuold be impressed. I have been listening to her since the early 90s. She has made some impressive awards for her work.

  • @dougf262 I can't say she's displaced Emmylou & Dolly yet, or quite equaled them. Even though Allison has >20 years of excellent work, & has been simply magnificent in the past 10 or so - & seems to even get better with each cd! - she's going up against true icons. Emmylou has worked 40 years, & Dolly almost 50. It will be a simple matter of few more years of Allison's fantastic work, and she'll truly be their equal.

  • just beautiful. I mean what else can you say?

  • If you like this you should like the Dillard and Clark (Gene, who wrote TTMTTN) CD that includes both of their LP's, Through the Morning, Through the Night and The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark. It's excellent.

  • this song is one of those songs you dont want to listen to a lot because its so good you dont want to waste it. but ive hit the repeat botton to many times for that statement to be wrong. this NEVER gets old. beautiful.

  • Robert knows when to step back, and when to lead as in gone gone gone.

Alison is simlpy perfect in this.

  • *****

  • what an angel...she is God's gift to us

  • I am appalled at 8 ppl disliking this....I cannot possibly beleive it.....this is the one song I still give benefit of the doubt that those ppl hv clicked dislike in error...

if not, YOU'RE SIMPLY A WASTE OF YOUR PATHETIC PARENTS'S SPERM

  • @wisenumb It boggles the mind, doesn't it?

  • Just........wow.

  • When Alison hits a note she pins it to the board. She's the archangel of country and hides her halo well. She has to be on the top flight of heaven's stairway.

  • @spoonfulofdreams

and this is the stairway that can't be bought

  • oh she has a beautifull voice.... so soothing

  • definately turned off BET for this

  • beautiful

  • This reminds me of Nickel Creek.

  • They compliment each other!! Very good album!

  • im old and grew up on rock n roll,,,but i love this cd,,,,this song is very good

  • Robert + Alison = Very nice music

  • i loved this song and all of alison's songs on the album, wasn't so thrilled about plant's songs especially gone, gone, gone, fortune teller, and please read the letter. sister rosetta and trampled rose were the true highlights for me.

  • Alot of shallow-minded idiot's on these song's that won't give this music chance.

  • I discovered this album a few weeks ago and can't get it out of my mind. Brilliant.

  • Love this song, so many twists and stories

  • Having a woman singing lyrics, which were written for a man to sing, is unprecedented, but Alison does it THREE times on this album. Amazing and beautiful.

  • speechless

  • its amazing that a classic hard rock star can cross over and do a country song thats more pure than all new country music today.

  • @RockandMetalforlife I agree completely.

  • Love this song. Powerful and very emotional

Wish they would do another album together

  • As a long time bluegrass fan, I have been listening to Krauss for years...so I knew what to expect there. But Robert Plant...I love LZ, but I never imagined he was still so talented, and that the fusion of his voice and Alison's would be so powerful. Well done. This combination is a priceless contribution to music.

  • Who ever had the idea to get these two together - genius! Who would have known?

  • Only discovered this today and fell in love!

  • This song and this performance are an absolute knockout. Full credit too, to T-Bone and his crew who did it just right!

  • I only listened to this at first because of Robert Plant, but wow, lady, I'm a new fan.

  • I want to marry you Allison...

  • I love this music.

  • beautiful xx

  • I saw this CD at Costco but I had already bought the Mark Knophler/Emmylou Harris collaboration (which is good BTW) and you can't buy everything you want right? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Now it's not there anymore. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Gonna have to pay full retail now.

  • Just download it fron Vuze. The record companies are total criminals, so no worries about ripping them off. Robert and Alison won't mind either, as long as you enjoy what they have done.

  • @PrincessPignatelli You've got a good point about the record companies. I've done more than a few posts here myself railing against their evil ways.

  • ok good....but not the original....

  • Spellbinding....so lovely...

  • my .......GOD...this is one HELLUVA song....talk about a make-out-on-the-dance-floor song. and the IRONY holy crap i felt like i was suffocating in sweet misery. "believe me when i tell you i could never kill a man..."

  • so good!

  • *high five* I couldn't resist man.

  • that whole album is great!!!

  • I wonder if she squeezed his lemon? ;-)

  • @machokingwwf lmfao!!!!!!! that's a good one. *high five*

  • @machokingwwf ... got to admit... was wondering the same thing... lol

  • @machokingwwf ... did she make lemonade??? I digress ...

  • they rode those worn-out bicycles through a hot afternoon. Can you feel all that? A newly surfaced road, the snap of chippings beneath their tyres, the smell of tar? Dust from a passing car, the city they left behind?

  • Wounderfull.Yersterday I fell ın love with song. Allisons voice is so soft ve tender

  • one of my favorite songs :)

  • Pales in comparison to the original.

  • @BigBambu78 oh really why? I guess i will check it out>

  • Comment removed

  • I generally have a disdain for country music, but this is pretty damn good. Seriously, if you look at the stuff I normally listen to (check my favorites), this is a really high complement about this song!

  • @thierryman, you should expand a little never know what you will like. These are two of my favorites I think its so cool they are together.

  • @thierryman man this isnt ordinary "country " music as you say. this is art....its plain and simple...Joe Diffie and Billy Ray Cyrus are rotting in a shallow grave after this song was made. this is NOT music that would be championed by the whoremongering record industry

  • Strong words, and totally true. I agree with you 100%

  • @thierryman I agree 100%.

  • @thierryman This isn't country music, it's bluegrass music, influenced by Plant's psychedelic-rock style. But glad you like it, nonetheless.

  • Kind of interesting how many sad love songs are in waltz time. For some reason, while listening to this I pictured a couple dancing-not speaking. Beautiful, sad song. Well done by two excellent musicians.

  • @joelunchboxx me too...weird...their last dance maybe...and the guy crying and straining to hold back his anger and sadness

  • i love this song!! my bro and sis in law do a beautiful cover to it!!!

  • What a great song. My husband got me this CD for Xmas. I love it.

  • The song is by the legendary Gene Clark, who, after he left the Byrds was cruelly neglected. An underated master of country rock!

  • i love led zep favorite band but robert and her are really good

  • she´s beyond sweetness...

  • Wow - what a lady - I've been a fan of Alison's since her early days and she just gets better and better - this is an awesome track....................

  • Her voice is like sipping on silky hot chocolate, so creamy and divine, smooth and peaceful.

  • can't put it any better

  • Bobby & Alison ride out into the western sunset.

  • As a long-time fan of Alison, I should point out that she spells her name KRAUSS. (Like, on cd cover.)

Might get more hits on searches, OP. And aid revelation of her enormous talents.

  • What a Lovely Woman Alison is =] yummy!

  • What you guys make of this honestly ??

I think there super !! they only had one rehearsal for this tune...

Type in: led zeppelin speedking then click the 1st video

    There called Speedking from Ireland..

  • It's been a while since a song has brought tears to a mans eyes from pure simplicity and beauty.

  • @xj900man Ever hear the original by Dillard and Clark? Yes it can be better.

  • plant sould get back together with led zeppelin

  • hes putting a lot more emotion into this then he did at zeppelins concert in france(i think it was in france) he also sounds great singing with her and i hope he continues too lengsel7 -led zeppelins music will go on forever

  • I posted the original Dillard and Clark version. Please give it a listen.

  • That was awesome. Also Polly. I love both versions. Gene Clark and RP/AK have unbelievable talent...

  • Thanks for posting The Dillard and Clark version is one of my classics

  • i luv tis song.... makes u wanna listen to it over and over again.... <3<3<3

  • Woot! My favorite song off the album. :) Thanks for uploading.

  • same! although i like gone gone gone too ;)

  • Very sweet. Such lovely harmony. A beautiful effort. These two have a very sensitive understanding of each other's ability to deliver the perfect sound. And, of course, one mustn't forget to acknowledge the superb accompaniment.

Best wishes to everyone from Colin, of Jarrahdale, in wonderful Western Australia.

  • let it be, folks.

  • they gotta be knocken' boots

  • wow..

  • Nice combo, planted krause.

  • Nice combo indeed!!!! They sound so good together. Rocker meets Bluegrass singer, and here are the results, pretty darn good!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • luv dis song!!! it b tight yo. if any1 hatez on dis song, ima bust a cap on dur ass, up in hurr.

  • she's got such a beautiful voice. i love them together!

  • She reaqlly doesn't need Plant for anything...

  • and Robert doesn't really need Allison for anything either....they are both top notch artists, but they create somthing special together. I am hoping we hear more of their side projects too, however.

  • Technically, you're right. But it just shows you're not an artist. A muse is an undefinable thing. Art lives in those margins of the unspeakable, the unknowable. Why does this song destroy me? I can't tell you, but I know that it does. Same for those two, it just works. No one knows.

  • YOU BITCH TROLL. Plant doesn't need her either but they know they are right for each other...........

  • lol that was a hilarious tell off! youtube just is the place for that...lol but i agree with you, they do have a good connection (whatever that means to them) that creates great music.

  • Sad song, no doubt, but the first time I heard it I thought "wow, she has the most beautiful voice!". Love this song (the whole album, actually). Their voices go so well together! =) Great collaboration!

  • He is singing the Harmony....and blending with Alison's voice. Harmony singing is harderd to master, and he does a great job. He's not supposed to be in your face out front. Its a beautiful song....different strokes for different folks

  • Nothing but tears.....closely related lyrics

    Sung and performed beautifully

By far better than pls read the letter, make no mistake, that is good too but this....this just....am speechless.....am completely sold.

  • Let's not forget Gene Clark who wrote this song and Polly Come Home from the album. Gene was one of the founders of the Byrds and was one of the most underrated singer/song writers ever. It's great to see he's finally getting his due. Rest in peace Gene. Love ya.

  • *takes a bow, plant is getting bit rusting with the age but it suits the music just fine * krauss

    * thumbs up for the whole album *

  • I'm not going to sift through all these comments. All I can Say is that girl has a fucking voice on her.

  • Dissapointing , sad to see what happened to ole Rob ,country ackkkk!!!!!

  • Are you serious? Ignore the pessimistic side and be shocked that the lead singer of Led Zepplin can come up with such a gem.

  • Did you see them on the Grammys? They were deserving of all the awards they won. What was great was watching the reaction on the rapper's face who were nominated with them. It was like, "man that old man and that bluegrass girl stole my trophy." Truth is Allison and Robert have more talent in their little finger than those rap guys have in their entire body.

  • Oh wow, I didn't watch it, but that's awesome they won. How many did they win? And haha, I wish I could have seen the rap guys faces.

  • I have to laugh and laugh--I'm a Zeppelin fan from age three, but I must say, this is truly lovely. Thank goodness Robert Plant can age gracefully and continue to explore the roots music that first drew him to rock and roll. Or have you all forgotten that there was more to that band than "Stairway to Heaven?" Geez.

  • Robert Plant has aged gracefully, yes. This is lovely. And do we really believe a man his age should still be singing "Whole Lotta Love"? Great song, but it doesn't suit him anymore. This song and this kind of music can be performed whether you're 20 or 60. Truly timeless.

  • WOW. Robert Plant is an example of a true artist. A talent that expands your perception of his music. When an artist can truly expand his music into areas that you would never imagine and succeed .. that is real tallent.

  • I never heard of this little girl until yesterday, I don't listen to country (or anything new) but this is great. Thanks.

  • My God. What the %$#@ has happened to Robert Plant? Better to burn out than fade away. His voice is gone...gone..gone...

  • I'm sure Plant still has the old rock god wail left. but really do you think it would be in place in a blues/bluegrass album?? he's just showing that he's a versatile vocalist

  • clearly you havent heard led zeppelin's reunion gig

    he was amazing!

  • Robert Plant's voice is there forever idiot..have you not listened to any ofthe rest of the songs on this album? he sounds just like the Plant in the 70's he just toned down this song...plz research before you make a repulsive statement like that

  • Idiot? Robert Plant is a hero among mortal vocalists no doubt. Unfortunatly this gravely monotone is not the Robert Plant I grew up idolizing. His was a young man's voice and anyone indicating the performance of Zep last year as being anything but amusing is kidding themself. Break out the Zep DVD box set to hear the greatest live band on earth and hear the decline in the late 70's culminating at a sad Knebworth show. Love Plant to death but he's smart enough to leave the legend intact.

  • you're stupid as hell and you don't know what good music is.

  • you call me stupid just because i said something that you dont like we live in democracy and i can express myself mate

  • Comment removed

  • Honduras is a Presidential Republic, not a democracy, big difference there... and I live in America so i can express my self too when i call you a fucking dumbass.

But thats besides the point. you said "good music died long ago" and "this sucks" I was calling you stupid for your shallow observation which was in fact stupid. yes there is a lot of music that sucks today, but good music is by no means dead,

you're just a fucking tool with no real knowledge or appreciation of music

  • first im american citizen am im living in honduras because i work for us aid but is not youir business the last thing im gonna say to you is that i have the reason because i never loose my head and you made insults and everithing be happy with your self i born in queens new york you can find me in summer

  • except for the un-necessary f-bombs, I agree with jcmoubarac. These are both artists...something you metalheads wouldn't understand. You call it crap, its not, its just different. It's not my cup of tea either, but that doesn't make it bad, its just not what Zep fans are used to. This is what he grew up listening to, folk music. Would you criticize a painter for not painting the same picture over and over again? The man has now succeeded in two genres of music. Most never become successful in 1.

  • Comment removed

  • this is some of the most beautiful music ive ever heard. if a man wants to change musical styles, thats his decision. who are you people to curse him for having a passion for music, not just rock?

  • Let Robert Plant do the fuck he wants

U dont like it, dont listen to it

and if u keep complaining, get a fuckin mic and try to do better. Be a fucking singer, make a fuckin band, and do the fuck u want then.

Its not ur business, u stupid fans.

  • Boy, this union is not myg cup of tea- album of the year!? Yes, a bad year- the economy is crap, unemployment is rising, we in 2 wars, and our shiny new president can't find a democrat that has paid his taxes to serve in his cabinet!

Album of the year? I guess that says it all.

  • No shit

  • beautiful

  • Robert Plant never ceases to amaze me.

  • To hear these two voices together tells me that Plante and Krauss like to sing. They are not out there simply for the fame. Plante could have stayed with Zepplin the rest of his life. Krauss doesn't need him at all. With Union Station, they had the back-up vocals to make some of the best sounds possible. But this duo is delightful.

  • Lovely version but to a diehard, the Dillard & Clark original can't be eclipsed. The maligned Donna Washburn adds beautiful harmonies to Gene's heartbroken lead

  • Hi Pinzhead

Agree with you on the original ..just wondered how Donna was much maligned...missed out on that....Jim

  • They are wonderful together! Lucky girl, lucky boy.

  • are they together? you know...fix together...like married?

  • reminds me of down by the seaside from physical graffiti

  • I like hotdogs.

  • Two brilliant voices become ONE!!

    PERFECT

  • Excellent song Thanks for posting

  • so good so good - one of the best on the disc - TWO PING TICKIE, youtube me

  • 5***** Thanks to bj ,

  • Composed by Gene Clark and can be found on the Dillard and Clark cd. One of many great songs that Gene composed.

  • These sing well together

  • Two of the most angelic voices to ever grace this planet.

  • I am a true lover of both old country and classic rock.

I must admit that this ranks in my top 3 for all time best country songs, ever.

    This song is magical.

  • magic..... just magic!! imagine if all new music sounded like this.. the world would look different... thank you!

  • This is amazing. maybe one of the best songs in the world, performed by great performers

  • I just love it!

  • Haunting.

  • Nice collaboration between those 2 greatests singers, each and his specific field...Rock & Country never been heared better!

  • Beautiful! But also makes me a bit sad to think what Robert might have done with Sandy Denny if she hadn't died..

  • I do love Allison's voice, but I'd love to hear more of Robert in their songs... she sorta over powers him. Not a bad pairing at all tho,

  • oooohhhh i get goosebums on my arms!!

    very nice!!!

    I LOVE YOU ALLISON!!!

  • What a beautiful rework of a great artist's song. Robert/Alison - we love you.

  • Its just a fantastic album ....not one bad song on it.

  • My favorite Gene Clark song. It was in the Steve McQueen movie "The Getaway" playing backround in the bar scene.

  • It takes quite a harmony to make the hair on my neck stand up. Real nice stuff.
