I might have to buy one of these just because you said it has less recoil than a Glock 21. At least fire one if nothing else just to believe it. I'm not saying you're full of shit by any means but my Glock 21 has less recoil than my Ruger SR9, my friends M&P9, and my friends Glock 19. That being said I find it hard to believe that the recoil of a 21 can be beat. Hard but not impossible. Good video man!
cool gun but do you actually have a holster for this pistol/light combo? i see alot of people who buy pistols and get lights for them then cant find holsters to fit then they ask me how i got the sarailand tactical holster for my glock/light and i have to give em the bad news that they dont make one for their xd/light or m&p/light comb...ect lol
as a firearms expert the Glock is by far more durable but the M&P is a more accurate gun simply because the distances between the metal parts is tighter. Glocks are very durable because the tolerances aren't as tight.
I carried an M&P for 2 years and had horrible rust problems working outside, I had to oil the slide daily....but I scored a perfect 100 every time I qualified.
@2204Alpha Stainless steel was rusting, or was the melonite coating showing signs of rust? I'm curious as to which it was. Did you consider sending it back to S&W for repair?
H&K has been making plastic guns sin the 1960's. Only they (Heckler and Koch) did it right the first time and they (H&K) only used metal magazines in their plastic guns. If you want a disposable piece of shit firearm by all means purchase a Glock. Glock=30 years of crap.
To no one's surprise, Glock sued Smith & Wesson in early 1994. claiming "tortious acts, including without limitations, patent infringement, federal unfair competition, common unfair competition and deceptive trade practices."
S&W returned the salvo with "We firmly believe the suit to be totally without merit and will act accordingly."
It's hard to argue with anyone who chooses a .45 for a home defense pistol. Shotguns are good but .45s are more compact for getting around corners, etc.
If S&W copied the glock then the glock copied the H&K were they frist ones to patent and use a polymer frame in 1968 it came out in 1970 and it's call the vp 70 which stands for Volkspistole, meaning 'Pistol for the People' so you can say glock copied H&K frist if you wana say that S&W copied glock?

my M&P is on its way to SW for warranty work......trigger went to chit and I am disappointed - internally its a POS and I think when it gets back im selling it and buying a SIG
I think you have the wrong Smith&Wesson pistol series in your post. It's not the M&P series but rather it's the Sigma series that Smith&Wesson has to pay a portion to Glock.
Before posting you should have asked what I was talking about. A person posted that Smith and Wesson had to pay Glock a portion of profits from the sale of the M&P series. I replied saying that it is not the M&P series but rather it's the Sigma series that Smith and Wesson has to pay out to Glock. I wasn't referring to the gun in this video. The author removed his orginal post after I clairified his error to him. I know it's an M&P and not a Sigma.
A buddy just dropped by to show me his new M&P .45 still in the box. I found it a bit bulky but not a bad looking weapon. I have a 1911 .45 and have quite a few top 5 finishes with it in state championships while in the Army. I guess when these other pistols that are being made have been around for a century then the comparisons can begin and the 1911 wasn't designed to be idiot proof it was designed to be dependable, accurate, and knock the target down. Who needs large capacity mags with a .45
when i was first introduced to GLOCK everyone said they wont jam up, that these guns were the shit, till one day me and a buddy went to go shoot the GLOCK it jammed up, and from that day on ive never liked them, and since ive been 21 yrs old ive had 2 S-W 9,a S-W 40,a BARETTA 40 and now a S-W M-P 45
dude they have only been making the Smith and Wesson M&P for like 4years Glock has 30years making their pistols. Plus Smith and Wesson copied Glocks design and Glock sued them and won.Where do you think the sigma gun idea came from. So yeah the glocks has been making their gun longer.
While Glocks have been making polymere framed pistols longer then everybody else SUCCESSFULLY, S&W has been around a bit longer making firearms in general. Yes their Sigmas (as well as their M&Ps) took some ideas from the Glock design, but they made a lot of other firearms way before they ever attempted to jump in the polymere frames. Look at their line of revolvers for example.
Other then that, nice guns both the Glock and the M&P series.
@kowa45 yes glocks been around longer, however it looks like the mp took over. The blue blood shooters are changing over from glocks to mp due to smooth slides, more safety, actually more durable than a glock (youtube mp 40 cal damage test or durability test) take sand mixed mud like a champ. Me, I love smith and wesson, got the best revolvers around due to that I went mp.
Smith and Wesson as a company has been around longer. They also pay loyalties to glock everytime they sell a sigma. Granted the M&P hasnt been out that long, but the fact remains that S&W is older the Glock, as a company.
@samuel2041 jezzz almost in every gun video people always talk about glock, glock, and glock make me confuse what gun to chose either 1911 or glock i can only buy gun 1 a year .i wish have the money to buy gun 1 a week i will not confuse what gun to buy
im thinking of picking up one of these here with a shorter barrel i have a 9mm pro M&P and really like but i also have a XD.40 i really like my to favs as far as poly frames go any advice in deciding between the 2
The pro is a really nice gun but is a bit long and not a whole lot good holsters for it yet. The xd is a good gun but it is very bulky and has a very high bore axis. If you wanted to go with a smaller gun in 45acp i would go with the Smith and Wesson M&P 45 compact. If i had to part with the M&P or the XD i would probably let the XD go because your not gaining anything with the XD it only hold 12 rounds and weights more than the M&P just my thoughts though.
i personally really disslike m1911's styles and the weight of most, makes me think of a slack jawed idiot as a gun. i love the style of that mp i am thinking about a mp40 or 45,that or a usp tactical.
Please update when it starts releasing the slide if you insert a mag a little too hard. If it does it every time... great, but it should be consistent. Many out there count on it.. not a good idea IMO.
i have a .45 m&p compact, and occasionally it releases the slide when you insert a mag. personally, i like that it does it, but the inconsistency can be dangerous, i agree.
My only complaint is that you opted for this over a 1911 for home defence because you wanted something lighter, if it were for concealed carry, i'd completely understand, but honestly, in your house weight shouldn't be an issue.
I have the same firearm, it has been a great pistol for target practice and for self defense. I have the 4.5 inch barrel kind of wish i went with the 4inch it would be a little easier to conceal. I am also a 1911 fanatic I carry a Kimber Tactical Pro II. Good video safe shooting
Agreed. The first Smith auto I ever bought was the Sigma Series and it constantly jammed on me, took it back then got an M&P and it also jammed. Will never own another smith auto.
Are you kidding...? You wouldn't trust a Smith and Wesson? That's sad to me... An M&P nonetheless... Even after rigorous saltwater and corrosion testing, mud, being driven over etc...? Really? I could understand if you were talking about a foreign made weapon or something... Sorry dude... I'll put the S&W right there with the names you mentioned.
When I shoot mine the magazine becomes very loose which bothers me feels sloppy. I shot much better when I tried out the Taurus 1911 and rockisland armory 1911 as far as 45's go.
he has the trl-2. fuckin sob is expensive! around $300. the trl-1 has just the flashlight for $100 or so. that would be nice. the best light is the surefire x300. fuckin $250 though!! dont qoute me on it. search the model #s yourself
btw. VIRIDIAN makes a very good laser light. remember, green is the way to go!!
How would you score this weapon in accuracy and also how does it compare to a 45ACP Glock . I'd really appriciate your insights so if you would drop me a line :)
I have both the glock 21 and the m&p 45. The feel and grip with the M&P is much better than the glock. You seem to have a little more control, with the m&p. Accuracy between the two are the same. The grip alone is what makes it for me, cause control is what you want.
you said it has really low recoil?bought a berreta px4 type F 45(have 9mm)and it also had little recoil, was told becuz of the rotary barrel it has,but if u really think this has the lowest recoil id like to know ive seen em at gun shows and they run 429.99 right now, so let me know thanks
Hey bud, that look sweet like a sweet gun. I just recently took my NRA basic pistol course and this gun was mentioned by my instructor. I am in the waiting period now before I obtain my permit. Do you think that this M&P would be a solid investment? I am looking mainly for personal protection as well as periodic range/target shooting. My brother owns a Glock and he too swears by Glock ,however, as my instructor (X-ranger) stated, this gun is mighty impressive. Let me know your thoughts! Thansk
I trust my life to it on the streets. I carry it 10 hours a day on the road so I think it's trustworthy. I carried a Glock and I think they are Garbage.
I'm trying to decide between this and a Glock 21 as my next carry piece. I don't want to carry my $1000 1911 any more. What do you think? This or the G21?
I know I sound completely n00b when asking this question but, I need to know. What are the liabilities of owning a handgun like this? Say there was a murder in your area and a guy was shot with a handgun. Do you also get investigated if you own a gun in the area? Also, can a person who isn't an American citizen own a license in the US?
Its a 99 yr old design. It was supposed to be an idiot proof sidearm that anyone on the battle field could just pick up and shoot. Yes theyve begun a cult... but after my experience in owning a para, I wish I had spent my money on something else.
They came through our agency and as incentive we could get em at a very reasonable price. The govt made a list of handguns deemed safe for officers to carry, red-tape bs. In order to be on that list, it has to have a certain combination of safeties etc. The para was heavy and cumbersome. I don't like the 45's because they're obsolete. I would say if you're going to spend the money go with an hk, usp. combat reload, various actions, and polymer frame, lightweight, a lot more versatile.
I was jes shopping for a pistol, and picked this gun over glock 1 hr ago, lol. I came home and looked it up, and found out that it was the gun of the year for 07. Ya this is the one for me, now to get my permit!! thanx for the review, they wanted $630, now I know I can do better lol.................
hi sir... can you please help me... im buying my first gun.. suppose to be.. i will buy 1911 colt 45 series 80.. but my friends wonth let me coz it is a old style gun.. so now.. im planning to buy smith and wesson m&p caliber 45... just want to ask you sir if its a good choice? or in your side.. what do you think will be the right gun a biginner like me? first timer in gun world.. please reply.. really need your help... God bless (:
My Man. Why didnt you get the 9mm? MY gun is for home defense too. I would rather have 17+1. I am a big fan of the large palm swell since I have big hands. You got a brilliant idea on the sight paint. If i have to disagree with you on anything it is the rail light. Do you want to illuminate em or shoot em. I have a german shephard who will let me know if i have to take out my gun. My dog barks if a lizard is in my yard but throws a fit if there is a human. Anyhow, best review yet. Thanks Bro.
I havent shot any hollow points out of it yet. Its designed for police work so im sure it will handle them fine. Do not buy cheap hollow points though. Cheap ammo is fine for the range but when your life depends on it go with the best. I have shot over 1000 rounds of Winchester ammo through my 9mm and not one jam yet!!!
Just my opinion but I would go with the .40cal.
deworeg 3 years ago
stormlake has a .40 to 9mm conversion barrel by the way... so if you go .40 you can get the barrel and magazines and use it as a 9mm as well.

Also, can a person who isn't an American citizen own a license in the US?

depends on the state/city laws, and if the cops think you did it..

cant go wrong with s&w. 1911 is overrated... I dont understand why people favor a design that old, unless its a double action variant.
spencer0590 3 years ago
because its a classic design, its beautiful. and very reliable. i love the 1911 designs, but i like these newer ones too.

Its a 99 yr old design. It was supposed to be an idiot proof sidearm that anyone on the battle field could just pick up and shoot. Yes theyve begun a cult... but after my experience in owning a para, I wish I had spent my money on something else.
spencer0590 3 years ago
I have heard some horror stories about para-ordnances 1911s. Did you have issues with yours, or just not like it for other reasons?
ksalmi72 3 years ago
They came through our agency and as incentive we could get em at a very reasonable price. The govt made a list of handguns deemed safe for officers to carry, red-tape bs. In order to be on that list, it has to have a certain combination of safeties etc. The para was heavy and cumbersome. I don't like the 45's because they're obsolete. I would say if you're going to spend the money go with an hk, usp. combat reload, various actions, and polymer frame, lightweight, a lot more versatile.

Thanks Bro.

how does the M&P 9mm handle hollow points? any feeding jams? looks like a sweet gun
matty0566 3 years ago
I havent shot any hollow points out of it yet. Its designed for police work so im sure it will handle them fine. Do not buy cheap hollow points though. Cheap ammo is fine for the range but when your life depends on it go with the best. I have shot over 1000 rounds of Winchester ammo through my 9mm and not one jam yet!!!

i use winchester 12 gauge for my shotgun, their ammo is all really good for me

how reliable is it? any jams etc?
NIKON777 3 years ago
I have over 7500 rounds through my M&P 45 without a single jam or F2F.
I shoot Speer Gold Dots and Hornday Tap (Red Box) (LE AMMO)but on the range I shoot Magtech.
