hey dude nice rite, i also have a 00 prelude n im thinking to put a turbo on it, its runs good n all but u think i should re build the engine n then put a turbo or just go for the turbo??? and how much money did u spend in all the things u have to get so it can work good ...
how many psi you think ... my prelude is automatic lol but people tell me the with turbo i will be fast realy fast because i dont loose the boost ...where do you live
psi is just a number .... You want to think of how much hp your wanting to get out of your car... Then you go off that onto what your wanting to put into it along with what type of parts... dont go cheap.. you'll just be wasting time.
If the engine is in good shape, just trow a nice t3/t4 turbo on there en stay within reasonable boost levels. Should make plenty of power and torque. To much will just keep the tires spinning on a FWD car. The h23 will make alot of torque and be a blast to drive. Need more info, just let me know
25psi high boost on a fully built bottom end. H22 is a very strong engine and can support over 400whp on the stock internals. H22a has a closed deck bottom end so it's very strong.
Running an engine at 20000mph it will probably blow up yes hahahahahaha.
Depend on how the engine is maintained, but the H23 is actually pretty good if you tune it right. With the H22 you have more parts so it's easier to tune, but the H23 is just as capable if tuned right.
Nice car, I have a question. I have a highish mile H22 and it needs a new headgasket anyway, if I get a thick metal headgasket, can I safely run 7-10psi on the stock block/head? If not what essentials do I need on top? Kind thanks if you get chance to reply!
hey i also have a h23 prelude that i was planning on turboing. its completley stock at the moment(not even a CAI) my question is if the compression is crappy due to 177k miles what all would i need to run 10-14 psi. ex: fuel pump, forged pistons, colder plugs etc... if you would be kind enough to send me a full build sheet i would appreciate it as i am a former v8 motorhead and no nothing modding hondas
Hi That vid was a fully build H22 unit. I first had an H23a yes and boosted to a 12psi limit on stock engine. as long as the engine is well maintained/in good condition. And with a good tune you can make reliable power out of the unit.
advice on a stock bottom end:
1)colder plugs
2)High power fuel pump
3)budget engine management apexi s-afc
4)FPR
Basically get some management before boosting.
On stock MAP sensor no more then 10 psi limit on stock/high mileage engine.Good tune=fun.
thanx man, the 2.3 thats in it only has 96,000 so im proly gona stay with that, what should the compression be at if i wana have around 350-400hp reliable?
Change the distribution belt and do a compression test. It should be 9.2:1 if it is well maintained and has good compression it can handle max 14psi boost if very well tuned and maintained. But stay within the 10 to 12 psi boundary to keep reliability.350bhp is very possible. More then enough on a FWD car. As you can see in my vids NO TRACTION at only 10psi on a T3/T4e Garrett.
With 12 psi around 300whp, 330bhp. H22 has more parts you can choose from. H23 is awesome to, it your choice. H23 is probably a little cheaper to build. You should turbo the H23 and fine tune that setup at 10 to 12psi boost it will be a killer!!! :)
That was at only 10psi boost. H22a JDM engine, Eagle rods, JE high compr pistons, ralley sleeves. At 10psi 350bhp and high boost 22 spiking to 26psi 534bhp.
hi i have a 4th gen prelude last year i did the swap for an H22jdm this year i just bought a turbo t3/t4 with everything for setup in in the 8psi my question is if i want to boosted to around 10 to 15 psi what do i have to change in the engine so it can handled and do i have to change the clutch thanx i ur prelude is amazing great vids
Hi thanks for comment.Regredible i only have vids of it running 10 to 14psi. I ran it 24 to 26psi on highway battles ;).
You can run 10 to 15psi,but tuning needs to be solid.Setup has to be able to cope with the extra demand.Uprated fuelpump, larger injectors(lower duty cycle).Stock engine is able to handle 10 to 13 psi easily.Very high boost is just pushing the limit on a non build engine.15 to 20 psi on a healthy engine once in a while with a solid tune, can be done, just not reliable.
hey im working on my 5th gen lude..and wow you seem super educated in turbo set-up...so can you help me out..with what components i should get? Also...is it better to buy a kit, or buy the parts separately? And sorry, last question, what components should i replace, before even attemping to put a turbo on?(like fuel rails and such?)
oh and im trying to do a street setup...nothing THAT extravagant..just a quick little lude :]
Man im bout to put together my turbo setup for my newly built engine.. any suggestion on wat turbo or engine management works best? did you have lsd on that car? Your car is so much inspiration to do this big..
Awesome man!!Building and planning is the most fun of the total project.Firstly find out what kind of setup you want to build.Streetcar/Dragcar/Circuitcar.Send me a PM,then i'll advice you from there.
Nope was going to, but went for Crome instead. Cheap and supringly reliable.Tuned the car to 24psi, turbo wasn't efficient anymore at that boost level. But Crome worked fine.
Thnx, the vids don't really do the car justice. it's mostly only 10 psi, car was tuned for 26psi boost. Lack of traction made the car difficult to drive. :(
every time i watch vids of vtec's i look outside to my h23 and go FUCK -.-

nice nice you think automatic will do the work
edison19920 2 years ago
Yes it will work, just don;t use to much boost. The auto tranny should be healthy as well.

edison19920 2 years ago
A healthy engine should be able handle between 10 to 14psi boost and still be reliable. Won;t lose boost, there's no such thing as losing boost.
I live in The Netherlands.

yes, i recomend 8 psi. 8 psi will be fine on any stock motor.
