Does anyone know if it is possible to get the album Bad Habits on CD. I have searched on-line but have yet to track anything down. I would get my vinyl copy converted but it has a small scratch on the title track :-(
Thank you so much for posting; one of my all time favourites!
@flydi61 Bad habits is available through aztec music australia jb hi fi should have it in stock by the way aztec music has released a heap of early australian albums on cd , aztec is owned by former drummer of billy thorpe and the aztecs
Bless you nzoz for posting these Gems from our youthful years !
I remember when this came out, some people were kind of against Billy Field cos they thought he was just a lucky, privileged guy with the money to make it big, unlike say your working class rocker. Anyhow, Billy did a great job on this one ! I wouldve thought the sinatra set wouldve adored this song - its got Swing !
My Mum may have been a little older than you (or a lot) it was a postgrad. Born 1950. Brisbane tho' UQ :) We both love/d this song so much. She's passed now so it's a really nice memory. Thanks so much for sharing!
It's quite embarrassing, I don't really remember what i wrote and removed, possibly another version of what I wrote? Then thought of another thing... so I think I deleted both and put it in one. I didn't realise the site logs it all and send copies to the relavent ppl! I'm a writer and a serial deleter of comments... trying to edit or be clearer. Gah so sorry - now I know. It's a 'bad habit' anyway :p
was performed by Senor Wences, a spanish american ventriloquist. He toured Australia in the 70`s, he had a death in the family ( a child i think) while on tour here, and he never came back, very funny man.
Every time I hear 'Bad Habits', I instantly think of the 2nd series of Underbelly. The scene in particular was the one where the corrupt detectives received their backhander money in paper sandwich bags at their desks.
I have been looking for this song for weeks and finally a friend put me onto YouTube & there he was singing this song "Bad Habits" just love the song...love YouTube..thankyou ..
You weren't in love with me is an amazing song, but not the one i'm after. He also had a song called Everything to me. Thats is the one i'm after, but thanks.
I'm looking for the balad billy did called everything to me..
does anyone have a copy of this.
BTW my trumpet teacher played trombone on this recording. I just love it. I also had a few lessons with the guy on lead trumpet. (not the bad actors. lol)
I now own the old Paradise Recording studio where this video was shot, i cant believe how different it looks. Love Billy and his music, What an absolute legend!!!!!
Attention Billy Field fans. For anyone living in Australia, Billy performs live every Friday night in restaurant in Baulkham Hills called Jimenez. Plays for a couple of hours, originals and covers and 100% free. Check it out.
Hey guys if ya like Billy Feilds,,he had 2 hits and the other one was called,,You wernt in love with me,,check it out if ya havnt yet,,i just seen it on the list,,i think its a better song,,but thats just a personal opinion,,Pete
My thoughts are exactly like 80skiwi. The song sort of grows on you. I've always found the obsession with the green and red arrows used in the clip quite interesting.
I remember this playing on my dad's (or was it grandmother's) car radio as he was driving through Kings Cross. I must have been three, but I remember having a strange feeling that I was listening to 'old people's music'.
@nzoz1981 that's interesting. kinda ironic that 'bad habits' was playing when u drove through the one street in australia that is the home of bad habits
I never thought about the irony until you raised it. What's also interesting is that it was on weekends when I'd see my grandmother, who lived around there. I always placed songs like this being the music of her era - obviously due to the old fashion style of music. This tune and the theme song for 'Welcome Back, Kotter' takes me back to that time and place.
@nzoz1981 Actually if you noticed, this was on Countdown on 31 May 1981 - so it's actually an 80's song ... not so far back as you thought?? Same with "You Weren't In Love With Me" also by Field.
@nzoz1981 I know what you mean by the feeling that you were listening to 'old people's music'. I love this song! I remember hearing it by a live cover band when I was about 5 years old, in the beer-garden of a pub my Mum frequented when she was at university. I remember I was so little that she'd put two single chairs together facing each other with a blanket on top, and I'd go to sleep listening to this song. One of my earliest music memories... Cheers!
@nzoz1981 - Yep, it was a bit of a throwback even then, but it's a classic bit of swing, take it from me, I'm a jazz fan. Incidentally, love your channel. Some great memories there.
I was 13 when this song hit the NZ charts back in 1982. It went to No1 and stayed there for what seemed like ages. I couldn't stand the song at the time, but now that I'm older and wiser I've grown fond of it.

I have this song playing whenever I a) go into a casino or b) go on a spending spree :P
