I love this computer, but the processor is pokey.. My Athilon board from 2000 runs at 1.1 Ghz...My moms dell latitude D510 runs at 1.73, and its from '03
HP's are nothing but bloated pieces of shit. The bloatware is horrible and so is the wasted hard drive space you have when you get the thing. Designwise they are ok at most. On the software and performance level, they are horrible. Dell I only put up there because I had a bad experience, other people they are fine for. Lenovo, Acer, Toshiba FTW.

I can give my opinion but do yourself a favor, try owning a couple and get a tech certification. I do in fact, have my facts straight. My point is that the shit SHOULDN'T BE THERE to begin with. I don't know anyone who wants it. All of the customers I have gotten complain about Windows and how slow and stuffed it is until they mention that their PC is an HP. HP is responsible for the Compaq abominations. I've owned a couple. Lenovo I have only had experience with Thinkpads which never broke.
From my experience, macbook does a beautiful job on its trackpads, whereas thinkpad does a great job on its trackpoints.
It think it is quality of the input method that's more important than which input method you use.
I'd be happy using a macbook air trackpad, but currently have a thinkpad sl300 and find that the trackpads are crap and almost unusable. You'll find the same problem with many acers and dells, especially the ones that choose to have no discernible edge to the trackpad.
Yeah, nothing like compromising the functionality of a laptop, excluding nevessary things, and forcung people to carry around dongles all for the sake of grabbing headlines with the "thinnest laptop". look at the tests this thing whoops the air in performance and does not get aluminum super hot like the air. PCMark05: x301=4457, Macbook Air=2478. and even though its gaming performance sucks it still beats the Air.

I don't think everyone should always follow everyone else. Lenovo has a design that has proven true for them so they won't change it. I don't blame them. Acer models do look very wierd and stupid but the performance and some of the features they have are really nice. Acer is too shiny. The Macbook really feels solid. I agree with you. Dell's I just had bad experience myself but I see other people who are happy with them so I don't bash them. My current laptop is a Gateway NX570X from 2007, the case is made partly of metal which is a lot more than what most laptop models can say. But Gateway is now a subsidary of Acer.
I know Macbook air is way better , although if Lenovo's werent so ugly I MIGHT CONSIDER actually buying one rather than looking at how ugly they are feeling sorry for people in stores
Nothing against your personal opinions, but I think the IBM/Lenovo design is classic. It's sleek, not all flare and isn't as gimmicky as the macbook air. The macbook is thin. That's it. The X series has so much more going for it. It is an actual notebook.

Am I the only one that thinks Lenovos are ugly?, look like an old laptop, Apple's MacBook is already very portable. MacBook Air is made for the Wireless World, and for people that travel a lot, that's why is "missing some parts" . You don't buy a laptop that fits in an envelope to keep it in your desk at home.
Lenovo is OK, it's very portable and whatever, but it has Windows on it, and that sucks.
Windows sucks for things that induce heavy CPU and network loads. Also, multitasking is slightly more painful than on a UNIX based OS. Mac OSX owes its better load balancing and saner operation to its BSD roots, and its a large part of what its users like.
I swear by OpenBSD myself, but then again, I'm not your average computer user.
Windows is fine, of course, for web surfing and office productivity, and necessary for stuff like Symbian development (although I seriously wish it wasn't).

You're not stuck with whatever OS comes with your machine, but with a Mac you're better off sticking with OSX - with the X300 you're probably better off with a proper Linux distribution. Macs are good at what they're designed for.

IBM has had this design for WAY more than 6 years, it has been so efficient that they didn't need to change it. (other companies created crappy designs and need to change it periodically year after year... Kind of like apple).
But now thinkpads are owned by crapovo, and I must say, I *ONLY* like IBM, not some cheap crappy chinese manufacturer. At least IBM still makes workstations, monitors, and other computer equipment.
I really want this laptop, seems great for university, lectures etc. I currently have an Asus but the battery life sucks unfortunately. However they are so damn expensive!!! God i wish I could get one for free. haha.
Actually, the point of the macbook air is for the business world. The reason it doesn't have much options on it is because of this. For a person that travels a lot and doesn't need all the stuff of a regular user and just wants his laptop to do his business stuff the macbook air is perfect. The lenovo is more of a balance of the two so that the regular user gets their multimedia fix yet can go anywhere do their business. Don't get me wrong, IBM is my favorite computer company.
Apple TRIES to create machines for businesses, but it never works out. #1 my IBM uses ECC RAM, SCSI HDD and all top-notch components, #2 Apple's machines aren't as powerful, and #3 IBM creates machines that are like iron! My IBM keyboard is 12 years old and it's not wearing out at all. I use it every day too.
Not only that, but all the hardware apple uses was created by IBM anyhow... even chess in OSX was ripped off from the chess in IBM's OS/2 warp.
too bad I compose music, design graphics (2D and 3D) and also program.
Macs don't have good enough hardware specifications, I need lots of ports, SCSI hard drives, ECC RAM. (Apple focuses on low-end home user equipment)

NASA uses IBM computers, and so do most major corporations, IBM just created the world's fastest computer; "the roadrunner," apple can't because they just use parts from other vendors.

Apple hardly creates any hardware, they basically create a crappy unergonomic case, slap a few "off the shelf parts," install OSX; which has the world's worst API, and voila! The CRAPPLE.

This laptop looks pretty awesome, even though I'm not really into ultraportables. I like this more then the Macbook air for one main reason.
It has a DVD drive.
I don't care what people say, a laptop should always have a disk drive of some sort integrated into the machine(don't give me any external crap that destroys the purpose of a ultra portable).
Plus, I've always been a fan of Lenovo, I'm using my 3000 N200 right now, and loving every second of it.

This is a business machine, not a "look at me, I am a lemming", one. It is pretty sturdy, with little flex, thx to the rollcage. It has more ports, an SSD, etc. When you grab the Mac Air, you feel like it's going to break in your hands, whereas this is just rock solid. Besides, allmost reviews put the Air as mediocre (not the other macs). So, I'd take this any day.

True. I don't like the white macbook either. It's not build very well either, except for less heat it's well made.
But the design on the newest Macs and the old MacBook Pro is incredibly good imo. And the unibody makes it extremely solid.
About PCs I like some of the Dell and Asus models.
But I don't like Acer and Lenovo much. Most of the Acer machines just looks stupid and too shiny.
I also don't like that most laptops are made in plastic.. geh...

you know why we cant compare the HP MINI WITH THIS MACHINE! its A IBM! INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES! if the HP mini fell out from my hand, the odd for it to be OK is high, neverthless this machine has somthing within if it drops it will be saved from the internal airbag whcih helps to protect all the hard drive from losing yoru work. But the HP mini's hard drive, well its good bye if anythign happens to the laptop!

Am I the only one that thinks Lenovos are ugly?, look like an old laptop, Apple's MacBook is already very portable. MacBook Air is made for the Wireless World, and for people that travel a lot, that's why is "missing some parts" . You don't buy a laptop that fits in an envelope to keep it in your desk at home.

Windows sucks for things that induce heavy CPU and network loads. Also, multitasking is slightly more painful than on a UNIX based OS. Mac OSX owes its better load balancing and saner operation to its BSD roots, and its a large part of what its users like.
I swear by OpenBSD myself, but then again, I'm not your average computer user.
Windows is fine, of course, for web surfing and office productivity, and necessary for stuff like Symbian development (although I seriously wish it wasn't).

You're not exactly helping your case here.
You're not stuck with whatever OS comes with your machine, but with a Mac you're better off sticking with OSX - with the X300 you're probably better off with a proper Linux distribution. Macs are good at what they're designed for.

IBM has had this design for WAY more than 6 years, it has been so efficient that they didn't need to change it. (other companies created crappy designs and need to change it periodically year after year... Kind of like apple).

Actually, the point of the macbook air is for the business world. The reason it doesn't have much options on it is because of this. For a person that travels a lot and doesn't need all the stuff of a regular user and just wants his laptop to do his business stuff the macbook air is perfect. The lenovo is more of a balance of the two so that the regular user gets their multimedia fix yet can go anywhere do their business. Don't get me wrong, IBM is my favorite computer company.

Apple TRIES to create machines for businesses, but it never works out. #1 my IBM uses ECC RAM, SCSI HDD and all top-notch components, #2 Apple's machines aren't as powerful, and #3 IBM creates machines that are like iron! My IBM keyboard is 12 years old and it's not wearing out at all. I use it every day too.
Not only that, but all the hardware apple uses was created by IBM anyhow... even chess in OSX was ripped off from the chess in IBM's OS/2 warp.

Macs don't have good enough hardware specifications, I need lots of ports, SCSI hard drives, ECC RAM. (Apple focuses on low-end home user equipment)
Sorry, garage band is crap; FL Studio and Cubase are for professionals.
NASA uses IBM computers, and so do most major corporations, IBM just created the world's fastest computer; "the roadrunner," apple can't because they just use parts from other vendors.

This laptop looks pretty awesome, even though I'm not really into ultraportables. I like this more then the Macbook air for one main reason.
It has a DVD drive.
I don't care what people say, a laptop should always have a disk drive of some sort integrated into the machine(don't give me any external crap that destroys the purpose of a ultra portable).
Plus, I've always been a fan of Lenovo, I'm using my 3000 N200 right now, and loving every second of it.

I think your Apple fanboy eyes don't let you see clearly. Thinkpads own MacBooks in almost every respect, except at being pretty.
This is a business machine, not a "look at me, I am a lemming", one. It is pretty sturdy, with little flex, thx to the rollcage. It has more ports, an SSD, etc. When you grab the Mac Air, you feel like it's going to break in your hands, whereas this is just rock solid. Besides, allmost reviews put the Air as mediocre (not the other macs). So, I'd take this any day.
