  • written by Billy "bass"Nelson and Eddie Hazel of Funkadelic a great classic funk song.

  • This choreogrphay contributes to the perception of greater funkiness. It is so unreserved and unabashedly male. One thing separating the Tempts from many other groups was their stark masculinity, and it comes through here with moves that no female group would think of. Those high kicks and struts exude a confidence level that makes the funk funkier. And to think they were in their 12th year of superstardom at this point, and no holidng back.

  • this is were i get my funk from

  • Looks and sounds like James Gadson on the drums.

  • who are the players playin this set with the temps?

  • Dennis Edwards one of the all time great vocalist ,Eddie Levert,Marvin Gaye,Levi Stubbs,Ronnie Isley,Dennis Edwards. underrated if you happen to listen to 60's and 70's radio you gon hear Dennis Edwards more than one time. His rendition of A SongFor You makes you cry.

  • It doesn't get much better than this, people!

  • That's definitely one of the more energetic routines I've seen the Temptations do.

  • Damn! these guys are just tooo good! There so FUNKY they ROCK! HAHAHAAA

  • wow..this is pure funk!!dennis edwards gettin down!!!bass is blowing my mind!!! the temps are the greatest......taylor ozee

  • This has got to be the best funk song ever. Best soul band ever. Temptations could ROCK! If you are not smiling by the first minute of this song, something is wrong with you.

  • F.U.N.K seriously...if you ever wanted to know what Funk was....

  • the choreography is simply amazing....

  • I'm in the process of purchasing those suits.

  • Sang that Dennis. This is my cut. This version is very cool and ultra funky.

  • This is one of the great performances that I like......

  • Midnight Special was the best. Bands got out there and did it live and EVERYBODY was on there. I miss the 70s. :-(....

  • @JethroSandwich That and plus they didn't fuck around like today's acts would be allowed to. Back then you had to bring it in EVERY performance.

  • OMG how do they stay balanced on their side like that when the floor titles sideways?

  • I love this song since finding out that Eddie Hazel wrote it and performed guitar backup. Eddie of Funkadelic was spreading that funk!

  • @nubiansista4life Eddie is the man. Extremely underrated.

  • Wow, I mean seriously, FUNKING WOW! What a post by whatiship

Tylersfs you're correct, this is even funkier than the studio version. That bass line is vicious

  • Yep, they exceeded themselves all right. Very cool.

  • No group could out perform the Tempts. They are the greatest ever.

  • razor blade sharp dipped into an alcohol river! Undisputed Tempts!!

  • from my Detroit Bad Boys --the Tempts -- and I did accept Dennis Edwards as a real TEMPTATION ---

  • the Temps were a gift to the world.

    rock&roll will never die!

  • they moves are sexy ass hell and slick!!!!!!

  • Just pure funk!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's funny, you see a bunch of dude standing there....you think (today)..."oh, here's a bunch of pretty boy posers". But not these cats....no sir.....just plain out BAD ASS! And they've got a bunch of killer classics! Heavy shit IMHO:)

  • DENNIS KNOW HE CAN SING!

  • Billy "Bass" Nelson and Eddie Hazel wrote this classic slab of FUNK !!!

  • The choreography, the vocals, the clothes, the CHARISMA!; everything about the Temptations "back in the day" was completely OFF THE CHARTS! They were R&B/SOUL "Superheroes" who probably possessed capes, with the ability to fly! With all due respect to the many great Male vocal groups who flourished during the 60's & 70's, The "Tempts", (all things considered), were practically peerless. That's always been my ever-so-humble opinion, and damn it, I'm sticking with it!

  • That might be your opinion, but let me tell you something, you would be very correct in that opinion. The Tempts are # 1

  • This is my song even though it didn't have all the original temps on it, those new temps was holding there own here, and they are dancing there asses off

  • Liegt wohl an der Schweinegrippe doch ich fühl mich irgendwie high und das Lied voll geil xD

  • Is it just me, or is this live version EVEN FUNKIER than the already too-funky-to-describe studio version!!!??????!?!?!? :)

  • YOU READ MY MIND!! hot damn.. its soooo good it hurts!

  • @tylersfs great music always sound even better live... wich explain why rap sound so crappy live :D

  • @Th3Boondocks - hey don't give today's rap THAT much credit. It ain't even good enough to be called crap! (lol)

  • @tylersfs IT IS!!! Who the HELL is playing bass on this? I'd give my right ball to know...

  • @mrcndrn i know that funky guitar is eddie hazel from funkadelic; don't know about the bass though.

  • @onamemmet eddie hazel is a beast. i believe he wrote this song too but i could be wrong

  • @mrcndrn

I'll volunteer to give my left one. We've go to know who this guy is. He's funking tremendous.

  • How do you describe this drum groove? I'm just learning music

  • Temptations (and Fishbone!) soldier 4 eva!

  • I agree, definitely the coolest & smoothest! Love those moves.

  • The coolest motherfuckers on the planet. 5 stars.

  • too much.todays music is garbage,

  • the temptaions stayed relevant because with each new era they reinvented and updated themselves.

  • Hence a Grammy nomination/win/or number one hit in ever decade starting in the 60's

  • being a huge temptations, and funk fan had never heard this version. i love the delbert mcclinton version and thought it was his original. learn something everyday.

  • Well you can't help but be super funky when you have 2 of the original members of Funkadelic as a backing band for this track. Eddie Hazel and Billy Bass Nelson provided the rhythm section for this tune. Eddie even got a writing credit

  • i didnt know eddie and billy were on this!.. man man man,.. the funk sho runs deep!..

  • The Tempts were awesome dancers as well as singers!

  • Wow, Dennis Edwards was a potential solo artist, ballsy voice reminds me of James Brown.

  • well Dennis did eventually go solo singing the classic Dont Look Any further

  • @FIBONICITY

I remember he had a hit with Don't Look Any Further, duetting with Siedah Garrett, but he should have had better solo career, cos he could seriously sing funk.

  • men in red! ;-p

  • Only these guys could pull it off, hell all tat energyLOL

  • a cool song .

  • great stuff here, thanks ELRANDY for sharing. 5 more stars

  • Way cool! Thanks ELRANDY!

  • Who can ever forget this classic group -

  • Lon Fontaine was working these boys. They probably had to take a few days off after performin on midnight special. The choreography is something else.

  • Lady luck and a four leaf clover

Won't heal this hurt I feel all over...

  • More! More!

  • Luuuve It!

  • Coool! Love this video.

    Thanks for posting :)
