  • I checked out this video to listen to the beautiful song. And I was reading the comments. When I looked at the screen, I could see only pitch black. After a while in that pitch black, I saw a white band. That was Vijayakanth smiling.. :-D

  • Is there any way we can get a clean version of the tamil song? The clarity of this song is bad. I am searching for a clean mp3 version, can anybody help?

  • ilayaraja the great, I think this is first tune in India which is there in all south languages except Kannada ,

Recently ilayaraja has given the same tuune for Paa movie,

now this tune is there in telugu, tamil, malayalam, and hindi

  • @rkpnbk (uploader)

There is now an additonal version in Hindi Paa also :)

  • no offence to vijayakanth fans..but i wonder how on earth he landed the chance to be hero..

  • @harrypotter85ful True. The fact that he kept his position is more of a surprise.

  • //

again shankar ganesh music nu yevanavathu sonnigana veedu thedi vanthu othappan..music knowledge illathavanllam yenda music pathhi comment pannreenga..

  • @rkpnbk Ha ha ha... Thanx dude. Nicde comment. Still many ignorant music fans consider tis as Shanker Ganesh's composition. Sad...:(

  • @rkpnbk just stole words from me bud.. i feel so e'ffin irated whn ppl comment having no knowledge abt it.. anwys thanks for talking for me too..!

  • You hit the nail on the head. Olangal and Auto Raja are both from our Great Maestro

  • @rkpnbk boss nenga solurathu elam correct, but music hae rasika terincha podhum ok ha??knowledge theva ila :) ilayaraja music koda yaradhayum compare pana mudiyadhu..he is mastero

  • again shankar ganesh music nu yevanavathu sonnigana veedu thedi vanthu othappan..music knowledge illathavanllam yenda music pathhi comment pannreenga..

  • guys guys the singer is Ilayaraja so pls its not shanker ganesh but he is a very good music director. i agree pls enjoy this song. raja is great

  • No more fabricated news deepakinit..

Shankar ganesh has nothing to do with this song

  • FYI,

    Movie - auto raja

    Music Director - Sankar ganesh

Actually,This song was inspired from the malayalam movie "ozhangal" .The actual song is thumbae vaa composed by Maestro. The director was heavily inspired by the song thumbae vaa from the malayalam movie , so that he wants shankar ganesh to use the same song in Auto Raja .Also, as the original composition in malayalam was by Maestro, He was requested by Shan- ganesh to sing the song too.

  • No, In a recent concert Illayarja himself mentioned that this Song was composed, and Balu mahendra asked him to remake this for his Malayalam Movie Ozhangal

  • are you mad!!! - pls dont write such stupid comments. It shame of you that you write some cooked up stories.

  • sangathil padatha kavithai whata line man ....and rajas tune.. great brings out the tranqulity out of the lines ....to really enjoy this you should know the language ..isaitzamilum isaignanium wat a combination....

  • Hey, I am a tamilian but brought up in Bombay, and never got to read great Tamil literature to fully enjoy tamil poetry...but great lines indeed yaar..!!You know who worte the lyrics???

  • ilayaraja has just proven why he's called 'the maestro' ..... he doesn't need awards or oscars. this song itself is worth a million oscars. if it stays in the hearts of his worshippers, thats enough. as someone said before : Ilayaraja doesn't know music, Music knows him..... the bass, the tabla oh my god ...! wow. can any human do this ??? not in dreams . maestro my friends. its Ilayaraja the god

  • telugu and malayalam versions were the best....probably cos S. Janaki was singing in such a divine voice and may be becuase lyrically they sounded melodious

the hindi version sounded like a decent enough song but still seems musically like a deecnt "remix".....not in the league of the 1982 malayalam-telugu musical brilliance

  • this song even in hindi song Paa

  • way better than gum sum but cannot be compared 2 thumbi vaa...

  • wats wrong with that female....

  • he is only legend in music

  • now remix version in paa. gumsum

  • superb composition sir..!!

  • raja is god of music

  • what a brilliant composition.. you can enjoy such a video as well when IR is doing magic around your ears.. :)

  • wonderful song by maestro.

  • 3:44 lol

  • LOL. For a sec I felt I saw Blair Witch.

  • You must've seen the close up of Viyakanth I guess?

  • @WhyteHousieBala - i notice that too...wakakka

  • 1:47-1:49 lol...

  • Yes Ofcourse Malayalam version is the best. This Song tune was very famous ever.

  • What a good song. It puts me in to time machine, taking to the yesteryears and feel something which cannot be expressed in words.

    Thanks to RAJA!

  • Since 10 years, I was searching for this song only without knowing the song's first line or the film name. But I got it today somehow.

  • hear the original song also by IR - 'Thumbi Vaa' in the movie Olangal..Malayalam...

I dont know Malayalam, but it is so soothing.

  • Raja sir's voice is so mesmerising.......Can anyone get me the lyrics of this song......PLEASE.

And also who is the music director Ilayaraja or Shankar ganesh. But this song is originally by Ilayaraja but some fool said it was shankar ganesh.

  • wtf ...its raja and raja onlyyy ......the orchestration speaks .....but the malloo version is the best ...

  • Superb bass guitar

  • This is a fine example for {Best Song} with {Worst Heroine}.

Simply we cannot enjoy this superb song in the presence of this heroine

  • who is the heroine? Producer's daughter? ;)

  • thanks for the song

  • s.janaki humming best

  • OMG it was my third day i started listening to this song.. more than 30 times a day...

  • Thank you for sharing... Seriously was lookin for tis song...

  • marvelous melody

  • .. nice song.. thks for uploading..

Maestro IR's original score is Olangal.....

tamil n telugu they haven taken d rights n used the same Number by other musicians...

  • does it matter whether it was out in tamil or malayalam 1st......what matters is that it was done by ilaiyaraja!

  • yes and then mahest bhatt used for his dil hai ki manta nahin....

  • Comment removed

  • very good

  • there is no language barrier for music. this song is equaly superhit in tamil telugu & malayalam. the point is, maestro ilayaraja composed it and the melody reached everyone's ears.... the telugu and malayalam versions are a bit faster with s janaki solo. this is original ...

  • This is not the original...Malayalam is the original (olangal)

  • yes you are right!

  • telugu version is simply too good....because the movie is too good and the song complements it well

    its called nireekshana

  • "Thumbhe vaa" -Olangal music was composed by Ilayaraja.

  • Comment removed

  • So many years have gone but this gone remains still in our mind ilayaraja is the omly reason for the same.

  • no

    the song is from olangal......

the producer of film autoraja liked this song and asked raja to make it as a duet. Interestingly the music director for auto raja was shankar ganesh. this song alone was composed by raja....

u should see the song "thumbee valla" in olangal

  • other way around, first auto raja, then olangal

  • yes exactly ., dhinakar u r right

  • watever it is..tamil ..telugu or malayalam ..its done my maestro iilayaraja ..no doubt...abt it ..proud tamilachi

  • no dout..............IR made first in tamil and later in malayalam and then in telugu...............malayalam and telugu songs are the improved versions of original track...............

  • a little bit change is made in telugu...majority is same and backdrop in telugu song is more beautiful captured by director...........balumahendra

  • Balumahendra was the director for Oolangal on which this song based.

  • k.........

  • neer veezhchi thee mootuthey - song from "Kanne Kalai Mane " available in raaga.

  • 1 of da best song ilayarajah collections

  • actors, movie, directors, lyricists, producers are non- entities in raja's music.

  • Can Anyone tell me who was the male singer??

  • my god!!!!

The male playback singer is no other then our Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.

  • Ilayaraja just squeezed Kappi ragam into this song. You can pour it into ur ears!

Background music is supposed to be a vehicle to carry the message of the lyricist. But the genius of Ilayaraja mesmerises our ears, that we don't appreciate the lyrics enough. This song in any language will be a hit. but listen to every word in this Tamil version. As a tamilian I feel so gifted. Pulamai Pithan at his best.

    The play of words in

'Sindhi thaen paigindra uravai...' is simply amazing!

  • great comment, thank you for posting. i always love the beginning 'தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தில் பாடத கவிதை பெண் அங்கத்தில் யார் தந்தது'?

i too always admired kavinjsar PulamaiPiththan, he has done another b'ful lyrics for unnaal mudiyum thambi, the song called 'ithazil kathai ezuthum neeramithu' by kamal and sitha. awesome lyrics.

  • I agree. I find the song sounds much sweeter, if we hear the audio without the visuals.

btw...is 1927 your birth year...ha ha. just kidding.

  • he he he you made me blashing...

anyway i found 'lie' is free, so just made use of it!! hehehehe :)

  • plz post Neer veezchi theemutudhey song

  • Can you plz upload the song "Malare enenna kolam yethanal yen meethu kobam" from the same movie auto raja

  • great song from IR....and vijayakanth was good in the 80's

  • mesmerizing ghanam...

  • speachless...awesome.....what can i say more?

  • The screening is not too good.. But the Song is awesome beating all the flaws! Kudos to the Maestro- Illayaraja

  • remake of original song in Malayalam - Tumbe vaa and telugu song with same tune. And Auto Raja was the film of Shankar nag in 1980. All music my Ilayaraja

  • no. thumbe vaa is the remake of this version

  • This movie auto raja (Tamil) came well after Olangal and also same tune was used by raja in Telugu in arakshana.

  • no.. you are wrong. if you want the proof for my words, watch ilayaraja's live show "netrum indrum endrum". he itself said said what i told.

  • My search in the net was different. Shankar Ganesh was music directors for this film. But the Producer requested IR to give song in his music, as he was impressed on the same song in Oolangal. Later same song was used by IR in Telugu. Oolangal came well before Auto Raja (Tamil).

  • its not arakshana it is neerikshana............

  • Thanks for the correction.

  • Both came in 1982, but each have few months difference.

  • hey , i am claiming this because ilayaraja(the person who is the composer for this song) itself said that he did first in Tamil. i heard the words from raja since i was there in the concert.

  • nice lyrics nice music but heroin is waste.

  • anyone know who wrote this song? Great Tamil verses.

  • its by kavinjsar pulamaipiththan.

  • wonderfull rare song! so many souvenirs are comming! I'm nostaligik

  • Could anyone post the song 'Neer veezhchi thee mootudhey, thee kooda kulir kaayudhey'

  • Ahahhaha you cant expect everyone to be so handsome like kamal and beautiful like srideviGod has also given something unique for captain so we accept the seen as it is.

    cheers.

  • vijaykanth IS handsome...

  • Certainly, no doubt illayaraja is the great. The major difference between 80's songs and present day songs is that 80's songs are class. We can listen to it without getting bored even for the thousandth time but the actors will spoil the song with their very presence just like the aunty did in this song. Current songs are horrible to hear but actors physical appearance is very pleasing. Ofcourse exceptions are there afterall.

  • i just hope some film maker comes and make refreshing music videos with todays 'glammed' up actresses together with the 80s songs...would defintely sell..

  • LOved this song. Thanks for Posting. Could you please let me know the mp3 link where I could possibly download this.

    Many thanks

  • Can anyone let me know..who the heroine is?

  • can any other MD come near to this? he was is and will be the greatest composer ever...ARR and others are just bachas in front of him

  • awesome song. thanks for posting!

  • raja sir has done improvisation on the tune...i wud prefer malayalam ....even kanada version similar to malayalam..give try guys...

  • Is there a kannada version of this song too? I know it is in Malayalam (Olangal - Thumbi vaa) , Telugu (Nireekshana ,Akasam enaithidho) and Hindi ( Aur Ek Prem Kahani- ?) Tamil ( 2nd version - Kanne Kalaimaane - Neer veezchi theemutudhey)

  • Watched malayala version after seeing your comment. Thanks. Nice one.

  • Is there a Kannada version of this song? Can you give the first line please? I have heard all the other 3. I couldn't find the hindi version in youtube. Would be greatfull. Thanks.

  • i am searching this song past 1 year.

thanks for posting the song, Good.

  • song was awesome,, bt i dnt like that aunty played as heroin enna kodumai sir

  • why can't i play this video. i am very much interested to hear this song in tamil since i am a great fan of its malayalam version tumbi vaa.

  • thanks for uploading this song. i was looking for this song more than a year. i heard this in raja sir's music concert. This song has something in it. i dont know how to tell it but it jus melting ma heart

  • Ilayaraja is and will be the greatest ever.If kamal is to Acting then Ilayaraja is to music. What a beautiful composition.Evergreen Raja.

  • i love this damn lovely song from the masterpiece of illayara...the lyrics and the golden voice of illayara & janaki along with his compose oh my...really great..salute him..

  • Raja sir performed the violin instrumentation of this song in Italy and after he finished - the entire crowd stood up and clapped for 3 minutes. There were sounds of 'bravo!' and I was part of the crowd and felt proud to belong to the same country he does. Long live Raja and his musical journey. I have had the previlige of talking to him a couple of times when I did a documentary with him.

  • That is great..You are blessed...you remember what other songs he played there?

  • Awesome!

  • Simply the best.

  • The same song is available in malayalam from the movie Olangal-1982. Song title is Thumbi Vaa based on Kappi Raagam.
