  • If you saw this closing, it means something good was just on TV.

  • I'm old enough to remember seeing this at the end of the shows Mr. Cannell wrote for - today's kids probably know it for being spoofed on the Simpsons and Family Guy.

  • does anyone notice his emmys

  • fuck family guy

  • collar poppin' at 1:23

  • At least add the Castle tribute.

  • @VigilanteAgumon the last clip was the clip used for castle. I think they just edited on castle for the tribute.

  • @codename617 I think might also have been for Silk Stalkings.

  • I feel sorta sad watching this; he's been dead a year but you kinda look forward to another one of his shows becoming a hit.

  • What no Family Guy parody or itchy and scratchy parody?

  • family guy brought me here

  • The take at 1:25 is the one I remember the most.

IBM Selection - I remember my mother's well. I used to play on it and waste her ribbon all the time!

  • I feel Like a kid again... Ohh the memories, it gives me goose bumps... WOW

  • Oh My God Stephen J. Cannell Why You Wake Up God Heart Attack By Blood Inside Skin On RIP MMy Sad Christopher! Not Very Good!!

  • This still gets me to cry sometimes.

  • What kind of station is Chiller?

  • @Cyclops236 Horror/thrillers.

  • @Skull10 Where is it from and is it available in America?

  • @Cyclops236 It's available on Direct TV, Dish Network and many cable providers.

  • @Skull10 The reason I ask if because I'm seeing videos from other countries like Sweden and such.

  • @Cyclops236 Whatever the case, it's a US channel broadcast in the US.

  • Stephen J. Cannell RIP

  • thumbs up if family guy send you here.

  • classic tv , its was on the end of the A team

  • That was really cool ... but if you feel like adding one more, Castle did a tribute using his signature paper toss and music.

'Castle's Tribute to Stephen J. Cannell' (won't let me post the link)

  • IT aint a masterpiece unless you toss it behind your back , turns into a logo, and sings a Killer Guitar solo!

  • We should bring in the type writter and papers he can throw up in heaven.

  • you can tell witch one was the 80s one.. flip collar.. I like how he gets older, more golden globe awards.. and he still throws all his papers.. how does he orginize that mess into such works of art?

  • He's the man of television of great shows such as the A-Team.

It's pity to see him gone and very sad as well.

Thank you, Stephen J. Cannell for all you done.

RIP, Old Friend and I shall miss you. GREAT VID!

  • The "80's orange shirt with collar up" has to be my favorite! He really looked like he was having fun doing what he did so well.... I wish I could be so happy..... Thanks for the memories Mr. C.

  • This man was an icon. I didn't realize he came up with so many shows I liked.

  • The bells in the longer versions kind of remind me of the Revue logo, which is a nice (if probably unintended) shoutout to Universal where he got his start.

  • Stephen J Cannell must understand that pipe smoking is a health hazzard.

  • @Sharptooth100 -That's not what killed him, though you're right, smoking a pipe might be harmful to one's health. Anyway, Cannell actually died from skin cancer.

  • this was usually the best part of the show...but then again it was the 80's and i was a toddler so i couldn't comprehend much.

  • awesome vid! we made a video just like this one! so weird!

  • OMG, he passed away THIS year, he DIED so young!! (69 yrs old)!!

  • I've no idea he passed till I watched the tribute on Castle. I grew up watching his production!

  • the greatest logo EVER! RIP Stephen.

  • Good night, sweet prince. I threw a sheet of paper in your memory. =(

  • Did Mike Post and Pete Carpenter write this music score ?

  • R.I.P Mr.Cannell u will be missed

  • Stephen J. Cannell. Thank you for blessing us with your genius. You are sorely missed. R.I.P.

  • He looks like he's about to crack up at the beginnings of a few of them.

  • Thanks for staring Northwood, eh...

  • R.I.P. Stephen J. Cannell... One of the greatest humbled producers in the history of television ever! The man knew television. Pure genius!!!

  • RIP stephen. such a huge part of my childhood in the 80's.

  • They had his logo at the end of Castle's episode last night and it said

We'll miss you, Pal. I almost started crying!!

  • @1freckleface2 I saw that! I too thought it was so nice, sweet, and sad. I too almost teared up. We'll MISS YOU PAL

  • Itchy and Scratchy, then Peter Griffin did versions of the logo.

  • @YoshiAngemon I loved Peter Griffin's version! It brought back memories of this one! I grew up watching this at the end of certain shows. Too bad they don't show it anymore.

  • ah SJC... this ident epitomised the glamour of hollywood producers for me when i was a youngster. the pipe, the wood panelling, the feverish typing (allalakalklkalallalklkalklaala), the wall adorned with Basic Food Hygiene certificates, the shiny jacket... not sure about the orange polo shirt though.

    RIP

  • Those of you who think a scholarship should be established in Mr. Cannell's name, raise your hand.

  • @Juliaflo

You'd think more writers like that would.

Always wanted to see one in Wes Craven's name personally since he was an English professor.

  • @Juliaflo - I do!

  • @Juliaflo Thinking is overrated! I KNOW a scholarship should be established under Mr. Cannell's name. It is a desperate time where people would rather do everything electronically and shorten long words to mere three letters. With this scholarship, there just might be hope for literacy in all its forms. Except for scripted reality shows.

  • @codename617 I totally second that. As much as I love using the computer, I still like to pick up an pen or pencil.

Here's wishing you a Happy New Year.

  • Rest in peace, Stephen J. Cannell.

  • thank you very much ! see you soon I LOVE YOU .

  • R.I.P. Stephen J. Cannell

  • R.I.P Stephen, you'll never be forgotten.

  • Just had a funny thought. I'm typing on my MacBook. In frustration, I throw it across the room. Each half splits, making a W.

  • one of the best closing logos ever

  • RIP and Goodbye to Stephen thanks for the memories

  • R.I.P. Stephen J. Cannell (1941-2010) just almost there to our Stephen 40th birthday.

  • Died on my birthday, too. Sheesh. :^P

  • @AarHan3

    ohhh

  • R.I.P. You will truly be missed.

  • Stephen J. Cannell was one of the greatest Television producers ever. Stephen J. Cannell will be sadly missed. But also I nothing but agree with you there DLCOrganization.

  • If you ever do an update, would it be possible to throw in some of the Parodies of the logo (Preferably the ones from "Family Guy" & "The Simpsons" w/Itchy & Scratchy).

  • The Commish and The Greatest American Hero are two of the most astonishing shows (in my opinion) ever! The Cannell/Kronish double team NEVER failed. RIP Stephen J.!

  • R.I.P Mr Cannell. You are one of the best producers ever and My inspiration to learning to type

  • wow just heard he died...that's too bad. Besides A-Team I didn't know much of his work but it seems he made a lot of contributions...RIP

  • I wouldn't say this brings back memories, but there sure is some special feeling from childhood which is brought up whenever I see these logos. I remember myself anticipating this logo when episode was over. So it was important. The time was an ending of a day. That is the feeling of an ending of a day which comes when I watch these logos.

A-team Renegate were always shown after 9 p.m. and after a show it was time to go sleep.

  • Listing to these tunes brings back some memories for me as a kid Stephen J Cannell R.I.P :(.

  • Thanks for all, mister Cannell

  • R.I.P

  • We'll miss you, Mr. Cannell. The typewriter's silent now....

  • Thank you for every thing you have ever done Mr. Cannel

  • Mr. Cannell, you will be missed. :(

  • rest in peace, logo man.

  • R.I.P !!

  • R.I. P.

    Steve Cannell

    1941-2010

    Thank You for "The A-Team"

  • RIP Stephen J. Cannell

  • I'm not one who usually becomes moved by a celebrity death, but this one really stung. R.I.P. Mr. Cannell. You created some of my favorite shows. But as shallow and mundane as this sounds, I'll always remember those logos. So, in memory of you, I shall throw a piece of paper up in the air!

    ~We love you Stephen!

  • Hey, don't sweat it, Spin. I never thought it would happen to me for a long time, but it happened to me today. I personally grieved for about 20 minutes or so. Cannell was an icon of television and an inspiration to me in particular as he had one of the most creative logos ever in TV history. He practically INVENTED the "vanity" logo (or RE-defined it, as it were). Stephen J. was the man, and I'll always remember "The Greatest American Hero" as the FIRST source of this classic logo. > DLC
  • We'll miss you, Mr. Cannell, but you will live on forever in your fantastically wonderful shows. Thank you for all of the entertainment.

  • R.I.P. Thank you for everything....

  • R.I.P. Stephen J. Cannell 1941-2010, We will all miss you!

  • Just found out about the news about his recent passing. Rest in Peace Mr. Cannell! These end logos (especially the 1st few in the beginning) will always a part of my earliest memories.

  • Popped collars at 1:25? This man was truly ahead of his time.

  • @quasimondo1933 lol...damn

  • I will forever associate these commercials with Mr. Cannell because they were at the end of my favorite 80's shows. RIP Mr. Cannell your were a one of a kind writer and producer.

  • These are called LOGOS, Bandito.

    Not commercials.

    > Professor DLC

  • @DLCOrganization Thank you for the clarification.

  • lol typewriters.

  • I just heard he has passed away. I'm sad to hear of his passing.

Thank you for The A-Team and your iconic production endcap, your place in broadcasting heaven is assured!

    RIP

P.S. Was there an updated logo for the 2000s?

  • Hey, Johnny! At a time like this,

you may want to update this montage just

one more time. You forgot about the

    Renegade IV Enterprises variant.

Fare thee well, Mr. Typewriter Man.

You were indeed a great inspiration!

    Rest in peace, Big C.

    > Professor DLC

  • @Wrentastic Or feeding Mimsie the Cat (MTM)

  • @Wrentastic That was sweet! It actually made my eyes tear up. I'd picture it where he still gets to write...entertainment for those up there.

  • @Wrentastic Why would you want that?

  • after watching this a few times last night, I just noticed today that if you keep on watching, you can watch the awards and plaques stacking up behind him.

What a writer and producer. RIP

  • Very sad to hear about Cannell's passing. An inspiration from the late 1960's, to the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and to his Crime Novel Passion in the 2000's. Forever be missed and always be remembered for his " Crime Buff " style ( February 5, 1941 - September 30, 2010 ) ~ R.I.P.

  • Nice tribute. I just learned that he passed away a couple of days ago. Rest in peace Mr. Cannell

  • @kanro77 I just read about it this morning at breakfast. Sad news, indeed.

  • I'm glad that they eventually dropped the trumpet blare. It sounded like the musical accompaniment for a monster entering the room.

  • OMG, I just learned that he died. 0_0
