The background is The Ladysmith Black Mambazo African Choir. they are from Zim, and they sing, I think, in Zulu. They are singing a Christian worship song, Halala means 'holy' or 'praise', something to that effect.

So really, what you are hearing is two songs at the same time. There is a dance that goes with this song as well (the Halala song).

Ladysmith B M is a South African choral group. Many of the Southern African countries have similar gospel singing styles. The main languages of Zim are Shangaan and Ndebele, Zulu is spoken mainly in the Kwazulu Natal region of South Africa.

I love this song, its a great blend of Ben's heart and style and the incomparable harmonies of SA gospel.

I'm not sure, I dont think they have genres (born and raised in S.A. but havent been back for a decade) its just African folk music/gospel.. their general style is big groups with those backing harmonies/vocals etc.. look up any african music.. also search Ipi Ntombi
