This old chestnut was revived in an MGM musical, "Two Weeks With Love", in late 1950, sung in the film by Debbie Reynolds and Carleton Carpenter. They had the hit recording (on MGM, of course, taken directly from the soundtrack). Freddy Martin recorded his own version at the time featuring his then-vocalist, Merv Griffin...who later struck out on his own as an actor, vocalist, game and talk show host.
I think I have all those versions loaded here plus one by Helen Kane from the 1920s and another by Cliffie Stone from the 1940s. Some are spelled ABBA DABBA others ABA DABA. Chek those out, too.
Part of my childhood too! Enjoyed this! John.

I remember singing this as a child...part of the idyllic 50's childhood? Thanks for the memory!
