U guys need to port heads and intakes and a heathy cam to make power. Tb needs to flow more then the and intake needs to flow more then the heads. Then a good tune and u should make over 400rwhp easy
just to let ya guys know out there if ya's want a high horsepower high rpm motor never stroke it especially if it a 302 or 289 couse when these engine are not stroked they can easily rev 9 grand with the right heads and cam and intake combo, you cant rev a big cubic inch motor that high its only good for bottom end power in witch at the most youll get is 8000rpm witch means your car will just flatten out on the topend compared to a non stroked 289 or 302 witch wont itll keep making power.
nothing against this car or engine couse it is badass for a stroker with stock heads to make that power, but why stroke a 302 when you can just get a standerd 351w and not have to worry about stroking it and get the same power but better tourque i just dont understand it especially when the 351w is built better then the 302 especially the 69 through 74 blocks.
hey man, nice vid.... i just finished my 302 - 347 stroker, afr heads 58cc , trick flowed intake, extractors, 9:1 compression... hi flow cats, and so on, guy that built it said it should make 450-475hp at flywheel, i hope so!!! not to mention my blower is going back on it too, its a v2 vortech with 12psi pulley...then he rekons around 550-580 at flywheel....these are rough estimates but lets see how we go, should be on road in few weeks, will put update or a vid
Nope ill never do this again. last time they did it, the new guy forgot to secure the straps and it drove into the wall when the speed gauge said 120mph :((((
im sure im not telling you anything you dont already know but, throw some aftermarket heads on that bitch, a 347 is capable of so much more say like 500hp, very nice car though beautiful
Hey thanks for the compliments, I appreciate it. Yeah, I'll get around to adding some aftermarket heads one of these days. Honestly at this point in my life, I've got two kids and too many toys and I just can't justify spending the cash on an upgrade like that right now. I'd love to but I barely ever get a chance to open it up as is, and there is plenty of power for my purposes so I'll just be leaving her be for awhile. Thanks again for the kind words.
iv always been told that the CFM should be based on CID unless your going for a big horse number. 300-400 use 650. 400-450 use a 750. if your running a bigger motor than that you already know what your doing.
250-275 hp. I have a 302 edelbrock carb, dual flowmasters, 2200 stall coveter, headers, diamond pistons, eagle rods, roller lifter, air filter, MSD distrubutor, and a 75 shot of wet nitrous. And I made only 323.6 and 347.4 toruque I was upset. But vids soon.
maybe around 200 to the wheels. It also depending what cam, what intake, exhaust, etc. If i was you, stroke that 302 and wake up that small block. you will like it, belive me! lol I have a 68 with a 408 windsor, love the torque and runs like hell! cost me around 8k to built, never dyno'd it, but ran best of 11.10 @ 119 on motor and 10.05 @129 on a 150 shot!
@lukedollar On the front rims did you have to do any body changes to fit the 7' rims? on my mustang all 4 are 17'x8' and my friend believes the front fender is rolled but my 8' rims in the front still rub hard.... should i replace them with 7' or 6' in the front? no matter what im keeping the rear at 8' though.
i was just wondering...i have a 302, what do i have to do t get it stroked? is there a kit? do i have to let a shop do it? just trying to improve all i can. nice mustang!
Yes there are kits. But you will need a engine or machine shop to Bore your cylinders .030in. over. As for kits, go to SummitRacing dot com and use their search feature for "Ford 347 kit". that should give you an idea of whats needed parts wise.
455... I dont know what I would do with that. I have a hard enough time trying to find open road around here for my 347. That is going to be some insane power. wow.

Nice setup... I have a very similar setup in my '66. I got 305 RWHP. So you beat me :-)
I think my problem is the exhaust which is too restrictive.

how much horses do u think a 68 mustang with 302, 4 barrel edelbrock carburetor, dual flowmaster exhaust, and a automatic trans would have?

sounds like you would be alot happier with a nice pair of aluminum aftermarket heads. 400hp would not be out of the question.

Yeah, you are spot on. I got a list of projects and those heads are on there. Maybe in the next 6 months or so. :)
