Jimmy originally wrote the song for Pinkly Smooth. He was reworking it to make it fit the theme of Nightmare, which was supposed to be a concept album about Nightmares. After Jimmy died they found his demo recordings and decided to record it and use his scratch demos. After Jimmy died they decided to rework most of the songs to have the album be a tribute to Jimmy. One song they left untouched was Nightmare because Jimmy loved it.

This song is absolutely beautiful and definitely one of my top favorites out of everything they have ever written. Jimmy has the most unique voice and nothing in the world compares to it. My heart is completely torn apart, knowing we will never hear anything new from him but I am thankful for what we did get to hear and enjoy.

@winterfrost99 what makes u think it was a doctor that did it? he was my favorite musician but lets be real ,i think he was partying a little to hard and he did some pills, and the drugs combined with his bad heart took his life.. happens all the time. highly unlikly he was prescribed those extremely potent pain killers (oxymorphone)
@akkajr Yeah you're right man...I love the Rev as much (or more) than the next guy, but there's no question what caused his death. It was explicitly published a few days after his death; when they say "natural causes" is the cause of death for any celebrity, the autopsy usually always leads to lethal drug intoxication. I don't look down on his life for it though, he lived life to the fullest and that's one way of doing it.

@jokerhuff23 Jimmy died due to an enlarged heart, and this was the last song used with him in it, it was orginally called Death, but the rest of the band re-named it Fiction in memory of Jimmy and his so called suicide song was technically Bromption Cocktail. He had that much love for everything, a normal heart wasn't good enough for Jimmy.
