I think your a little mixed up here on this one. The "internet" is the infrastructure that the "world wide web" uses to deliver information. AKA what started as ARPANET. The internet doesn't and will never "store" information, just as your phone line does not or can never store your phone calls. Your answering machine, phone systems and whatnot can be used to store information that is transmitted on the phone line.

@namizmo There is a push toward "Cloud Computing" but this will be the choice of the individual on whether or not they choose to use these services, and for many people it will be a useful tool. This will do nothing to change the infrastructure on the internet itself, which is not owned by one, a thousand or even a million people, it is much more decentralized than you portray in your video. The most anyone could do is censor their service on the end of that "phone line" that is the internet.

Passing this law would actually do nothing to stop internet piracy (downloading music,movies, and software) as the people who do this have already proven that this type of DNS block can easily be rendered pointless.

This would cause the smaller companies (like youtube when it was a young company) from ever starting up in the first place. In the United Kingdom, the Government have intervened and forced the largest internet provider (BT) to censor websites providing piracy video. They are also looking at adding filters on all 'inappropriate content' to protect children. The definition of inappropriate content is obviously ambiguous. The government will draft legislation to create a department of censorship, which will then basically run the internet in the UK...this has already begun. The cloud isn't my greatest worry!

There are some to cloud computing advantages such as not needing super beefy machines as a majority of processing and storage is done on the cloud servers. in theory, that would cut costs for computers. However, companies, such as Apple, have managed to convince people to pay 2-3 times to value of a stripped down machine.

Microsoft has already started testing this out. In XP SP3 many people had to replace DVD drives because suddenly they didn't work after installing SP3. What they did was coded out one of the a single layer so that only the CD worked but not the DVD. Re-installing XP (pre SP3 proves this) because the drives magically work again. This is the same thing that will happen when the government controls the software that controls your hardware. Now you see it ... now you don't.

I think the powers that be will hit us in muliple ways all at once. First we will see some kind of event to force the country to shift toward war or retalition against someone. Then we will see implementing of the police state and use of the likes of the Fema camps. Last, the internet will go dark in conventional senses as it will only be biased toward propaganda. At that point we will be too deep in WWIII to escape and everyone will either be "traitors" or brainwashed.

Its already happening. Facebook is censoring alternative sites. Currently Facebook has blocked users from posting articles from Intelhub.com. Just try it.

@darrenritt27 I have been posting some of the sites on here on my facebook and one day I kept getting notices when I tried to saying it was refusing my post and why did I want to post it. I answered that its called freedom of speech and they better let me post or I was going to sue facebook. I havent had a problem posting anything since then.

@Richardofdanbury The cloud is the internet. The cloud refers to accessing all of our data being accessed from the internet. Cloud computing is when we get remote computer to process our information for us and then receiving that information from the internet.

None of the new technologies are specifically made to be bad or good, it's just the way that they are used that makes them, what they are.

Cloud computing is a good concept, but it could be potentially used for a agenda that you described.
