kay so dude, full exhaust and catback exhaust are two different things. you cant add them together to make it sound cool. full exhaust consists of headers, cat, piping, muffler, and tip. cat back just replaces everything from the cat back. thus the reason for the name being cat back exhaust.
Right now its everything form the headers back(not including the headers). Sorry for the confusion before, I say full catback exhaust, just what I call it. My bad
@dottiemot222 you cant tell by the sound? sorry i guess i know too much. ill slow down on contradicting everyone. its just ive been watching vids like this for a while, and i havent had an account to do so. now that i do have an account i correct people every chance i get ha i just like knowing what im talkin about. i dont mean to insult.
lol ya its clearly a V6 it also says that in the description. I changed it up a bit more now, the Magnaflow started to sound way to raspy and just horrible. I took it to a different shop and told them something mellow and not raspy, couldn't be happier now with it!
Not off the top of my head. I should have the paper work somewhere for it tho I just have to find it. I just assume its a pretty generic 2.5" in/out tho?
i just got mine done with one of the normal magnaflow ones i guess you call it? im having it redone with a smaller race series muffler. if you could find the part number please, i just wanna see what you have. i have the same truck just and 02.
Over all, ya I am pretty happy with it. If you have a 3.9L its hard to get something that sounds good, it'll never sound like a V8 haha. True duals on a 3.9L truck would be WAY overkill especially doing it at the stock 2.5", maybe if you went down to 2" it wouldn't be as bad. I would also recommend getting a nice high flow Cat too , that will make it easier for the truck to breath and should improve the sound of the exhaust
Yeah, I have a 00 Dakota with the 3.9, but mine came with the stock exhaust with a glass pack in place of the muffler. At idle, it actually sounds like a V8, a lot of people mistake it, but you can tell it's a V6 as soon as I step on the gas. Overall though, I'm happy with it.
i have a 2001 dakota with the 3.9 and i personally think ur pickup sounds nice..... i have a friend with straight pipes with a newer dakota with the 318 (5.2 liter) and it sounds amazing...... i really think straight pipes need to be left for v-8s but i like the sound of yours
doesn't sound bad, the Flowmaster gives a much deeper tone though for those looking for something more agressive. Give it a try, and check out my videos, of Dakota 3.9s with flowmaster 40s
I actually use to have a flow 40 on it.. sounded terrible above 3K like OMG terrible haha next muffler on this truck will be a stock one haha I am done trying to make a small V6 sound halfway decent haha
well I'm sorry you had such bad luck with it. just out of curiosity, what did you think of mine? did it sound anything close to yours, or was mine different?
Pretty close at a cold idle, yours is a dual tho right? single in 2 out? mine was just single in single out. yours doesn't sound bad.... how is your inside noise tho? mine was terrible after like 3K it was the worst sound ever haha
yeah mines single in dual out, and its sounds nice inside too. And if I let it engine brake its sounds like a V8, on really cold mornings (-30 or -40) its sounds like a diesel people say lol
What series is that?

My flowmaster 40 original series makes no noticable sound over 3000rpm.
40 series is known to drone at 2200-2700rpms.
You should go with a custom true dual, h-pipe exhaust.

What it cost you? Sounds nasty. I have a 98 v6 with a vortech suprcharger with the stock exhaust.
