According to the filmmakers there was only one monster (not counting the parasites), and it was an infant. They look different due to lighting and camera angles. The parent(s) haven't been seen at all yet.

Just to say that there is only one Clover, not two. If you watch the Making Of documentary the guy who designed Clover refers to it as "him", and not "they" which would make more sense if there was more than one. Also the models he has in front of him are just of Clover and the Parasite. It only looks different due to lighting and camera angles. Nothing looks the same with different lighting and camera angles. I know, I'm a photographer. =0)
