Donovan is a play maker I repeat. not someone who goes about scoring goals left and right. There's a difference between a striker and a center mid. Also I'm sure Everton wanted landon Donovan after his first loan there. Bayern Munich, on loan he scored a slew of goals and assists.

If Donovan really did have a big impact on the USMNT, then he would be captain, not Bocanegra. Also, Adu should be called up. During his short run in the Gold Cup, he proved to be a huge playmaker. Imagine if he and Brek Shea, (if they were groomed more) were given freedom on the opposite wings.

@TheBlazeAG dempsey's tying goal against England was a result of Green's big mistake. yes, dempsey did have a disallowed goal, but donovan set up and scored the game winning goal eventually. captainship does not equal impact player. It's not about being the best but being a good leader. often it's given to experienced defenders and goalkeepers who can see the whole team during the game.
