  • I know what the song at the begining is but i can't put a name or composer to it! Anyone know? I'd like to get the full song so i can dance to it :)

  • @crazywaterbaby1 dance of the little swans

  • her feet are sooo cute and tiny =)

  • this is what i need to work on! it's hard for me to pointe my feet properly. it's ridiculous how much though goes into just pointing one's feet!

  • When I do this my toes spread out.

    Is this bad?

    Can it be fixed?

  • if you are using your extrinsic muscles too much on releve could that cause knots in the lower ITB and the muscles in the side of the upper calf(don't know thier name)? I get these constantly and just keep massging them out. but they keep coming back. Also I have VERY poor turnout which I am working on.

I'm not a trained ballet dancer I do Equestrian Vaulting (gymnastics on the back of a moving horse) and Gymnastics. But I do ballet mostly learned from youtube.

  • I used to have to do those exercises. At the time I was doing it i had no idea what it was for. now I wish I hadn't stopped (we got a new teacher) but i do it on my own now and it helps alot!

  • I have to do those with thera-bands at my private lessons.

  • hi(: i just joined a dance academy , and i was just wondering... how long do you think it takes untill i will actually be on pointe work ?

  • I sprained my foot and ankle about a month ago but before that my teacher said I was ready for pointe. What should I do?

  • It is not natural for your ankle to hurt when you start pointe work but this is usually a sign of early atheritis, I would stop doing pointe work now or trust me you will never walk again!!!

  • The back of my ankle hurts is that normal??

  • its kind of getting on my nerves how ppl r saying u cant get an arch..u can i mean it wont appear right away but there are certain excersises throughout time u build a arch cuz its muscel not bone.

  • Are there any exercises that you can do to help you develop a better arch?? I have a normal arch and I think high arches are so much prettier so I was wondering if its possible to raise your arch?

  • my arches are way too high, and everytime i shift my weight onto one foot, it feels like i'm about to fall over forward. any advice?

  • great information!

  • man the stretch feels amazing lol

  • i have flat feet and about to start pointe i am 16 , how can i get an arch please help!!

  • ohh girly im right there with you.

i cant point/arch to save my life.

My instructor is always on my for that.

For arching neways i stretch my arch with high heels and or when im just sitting i point and hold it. thats been working for me.

  • You cant get an arch( I am flat feeted also). I just work very hard on excersizes so my feet get a little archier, if thats possible. Just keep working on rises and pushing through the balls of your feet.

  • u cant GET an arch. u just born wt it, its genetic. if u have flat feet, just try to make them stronger

  • you cant get an arch but you can pull up your feet to create arches when you dance. creating an arch over time.

  • @MyBFFIsAVampire thats actually not true..its not possible for every single ballerina to be born with arches..the arch in ur foot isnt bone its muscel.using a thera band helps..i actually have a better arch now and i never use to have a arch..and my friend never really had arches and now she has nice pretty high arches and its just from gaining more muscel in ur foot...some ppl r born with arches but thats not true on wat u said

  • When I do this to the demi point my toes spread out...and when I go to pointe I lack the arch...I've been trying killer hard to get it and my feet look like I've just started...my teacher has no idea what I'm doing wrong...

  • I've been told i have a beautiful arch by a therapist before (john)

  • How does one do this if they are "flat footed"?

  • I am very flat footed and manage pointe just fine. You just have to have the right strength and getting a softer shank/ 3/4 shank.

  • really? im flat footed too! but i find myself knuckling instead :\ any advice? :)

  • I do knuckle to, but just do eacersizes on pointing THROUGH the feet. Ball of the feet and then the toes. Repeat a few times on each foot. Hope I helped :)

  • Same here!!!!!

  • Does anyone else have a dominant foot? I can do this perfectly with my right foot but not my left! Its so annoying :( This girls really good though :)

    XOXOXOX

  • I dont have good arches :( When i'm sitting on the floor in second position, and stretch my knees, my heels are lifted from the floor quite far. My knees are like, weird or something, overstrechted. This combination makes it difficult for me on pointe. When i'm on pointe and stretch my knees, it's almost impossible to stand correctly, i sometimes fall backwards. Does anyone have tips please?

  • if you are falling backwards it is not form your nees, it is from your lowerback and abs. try to get your ribs alittle more over your hips and use your abs more. hope this helps!!

  • me too! your knees aren't "overstretched", they're hyperextended (in other words, our knees extend too far back). when you go to fully stretch your knee, don't think of pulling back because that makes you hyperextended. instead, try to feel the spot on the inside of your knee next to your knee-cap and strtch up from that spot so that your knees are straight, not hyperextended. unfortunatley, hyperextension is something we're born with and it's something that wont go away

    Hope this helped! :)

  • My ankles aren't flexible, it is very frusterating! I have to work quite hard en pointe.

  • omg same! any1 know how to fix that?

  • I don't know, I think that you just have to work at it.... I hope :P

  • How do u get such beautiful feet with such an amazing arch like that girl has?! Im so jealous, i don't have a good arch. And that makes it harder for me en pointe

  • Oh i so need this right now as well its helping so much thanks ;)

  • this is just what i need right now, i find it so hard to come back down through the demi point from being up on pointe, thankyou!

  • She's 14? She looks about as strong as a 11 year old.

    Her feet are gorgeous, though(:

  • buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu m k mttit mah

  • heyy

when i do this, my baby toe sticks out, i have no control over it..lol...?

    :D

  • mine do that too!!! ha ha ha it is so annoying! ha ha ha

  • so do mine. It's annoying!!!!

  • ok im on grade 3 and i just bought my pointe and this is really helping me thx!!

  • ur too young unless ur really strong, otherwise ur teacher needs to know that

  • well maybe but idk like there r ppl in my class that had used pointe for like 2 years and they r in grade 3... well im 12 now and i think im ready but idk

  • OMG I love it!!! thank U so much!!

  • 4 Swans! i did this dance this year!

  • I meant to say if you think it is possivle, when...

    sorry

  • I started ballet 7 months ago now but can only go to one lesson a week and because I am rather old to be a beginner I was wondering wether is is likely I will get to the pointe level? Also if you think I could if I keep working, do you think it would be possible? Thank you and nice video. ps cos of my age I am in an intermediate foundation group (grade 4 ish) and I think the syllabus is RAD.

  • could you post a video showing us how to stretch the muscles, so that we can stand on demi-pointe?

  • Wow all your videos really help. I am going on pointe next dance season... I am 13 and those are good exercises to do. Thank-you

  • my best friend is going en pointe at the end of the summer. she is 12. :D

  • I am going there

  • wat is the best pointe shoe

  • where do you live because of you live near a freeds go there

  • i really like the bloch pointe shoes. they are supportive yet soft.

  • depends on your feet - you need to have them properly fitted.

  • she has an arch alot like mine i started pointe when i was almost 9

  • oh my goodness. Starting pointe at 8 and almost 9 is not a good idea. Your feet are still growing.

  • Dat girl has a really nice arch, I noticed. She has a nice straight back, too... I have a hunchback and I'm trying to get it straight now since I started ballet late.

  • when did you start?

  • I used to not curl my toes but, now I do. Ggggrrrr

  • How old is that girl? 9?

  • She is 14

  • 14? you serious? she doesnt seem it..

  • yeah she does .__.

  • hmm nah she's really petite which makes her look around 12 i think

  • she is now 16...

i'm really good friends with her

when this video was taken she was 14...

  • thank you SOOO Much!!! sometimes i would point my toes and they would hurt in that muscle area on my feet and i had no idea why!!! this is soo helpful!!!!

  • grr. my toes keep curling!

i cant get those mucles to work! heeeelllp!!!!!1

  • i really do love your videos, they're very helpful to me, having struggled in ballet for quite some time now. i have two questions:

1.) could this be done on extension band?

2.) do you know any excersises that will help me not "sit" whenever i'm doing pretty much any position? thanks!

  • That was exactly my problem! I get pain in my achilleshiel, or something, wenn i dance on pointe!!!

  • hey guys i was wondering if you could help me out coz you all sound like dancers--i'm 15 yrs old and i'm in Grade 4 of RAD ballet(i quit when i was little so i had to start all over again and now i'm with 12 year olds--hehe)--do you know how long it might take me to go on pionte--what grade do you ussualy start pionte in RAD?? Please get to me

  • Hey most people start in Intermediate foundation (old = Pre-Elementary) but it really depends when your ready :D It's great you started again!

  • que bien

  • Ya when I get tired nd do pointe work, I get pain at the side of the calve muscles..thanks for this video!I've improved avoiding using the wrong muscles.

  • hm... After whatching this video I've noticed more that my toes are slightly curled when I point them... I haven't noticed any problem when I wear pointe shoes. If anyone knows how to correct this it would be helpful =].

P.S. Really the comment before mine... really not nessisary... and shes what 5 (most likely more...) years younger then you?! shame on you -.-... and get a hobby RAWR

  • I really really need to improve my arch because i am becoming 15 this year and soon i am going to try get in to better ballet schools , I live in iceland so there is no future here for me in classical dance. I have watched all your videos and they are really good but do you know any exercises or stretches that help make your arch higher and stronger? :)

  • my arch isn't very good either... i'd appreciate any tips!!!

  • What my sister did was point her foot then she stuck it under the couch for a few min, now she almost touches the floor when she points! :D

  • You can damage your feet that way.

  • I wanted to ask you what body type is right for Ballet. I am shorter person, but i have a wider more Curvaceous body, and I tend to wieght a little bit more than most dancers. Would this body type be a ppropriate for dancing?

  • this is such a great exercise!

  • Thanks for sharing these videos :) They really help me, so keep making them! :)

  • very true! and thanks for the support :)

  • she's like me. I'm tiny and look so young, and will always stay tiny, but I'm on pointe, I also have an amazing arch and I love it :D

  • Yep! Size aint everything, and heaps of companies like tiny girls so no need to worry :)

  • @ballerina612 Just like me! but i love being this tiny now. for a while i hated it and hated my body. everyone thinks i'm 12 when i'm really 16. but when i'm in dance class it doesn't matter!

  • @MissLizzanna I'm pretty short too - I'm 21 and everyone thinks I'm fifteen when they first meet me! Although most of the time I don't think of myself as that short becuse all of my friends are gymnasts/cheerleaders/dancers/vaulters so among my friends I'm pretty average.

  • @ballerina612 ....I have the same thing!! I love it too.

  • This is brilliant. I am so happy that you exist, that you know so much AND that you are sharing this with us! *grin grin*

    Please keep going!

  • That girl looks very young to dance pointe but she has an amazing arch for her age. Not bad at all!

And nice video by the way. ;)

  • She is older than she looks! (14) And very strong :) All of her family is tiny, so she is always going to be little. Thanks for your concern though!

  • @lisahowell2 really? I thought she was 8 or 9. How tall is she? she has tiny feet and stature.
