  • Subbed ;)

  • Just buy an external disk enclosure . it's cheaper and easy

  • @abdu2s That way you get an external drive, the point of this is to get an internal drive.

  • Quick question. Would there be an easy way to duplicate my existing hdd to the ssd I would install in it? I want to be able to boot with the ssd and just use my hdd for storage. P.S., would it be possible to install programs into my hdd while booting off of a ssd? Thanks in advance!

  • @boberz33 First part is disk cloning , thats easy you can do that from disk utility. Second part answer is no. programs have to be in the disk you booting from in order for them to run

  • epic dock.

  • I guess this will void the warranty right? I know you can replace the ram and hdd without voiding it, but this is beyond that..

  • @costescuandrei1975 Just return it to its original state when you bring it for repairs. My 128GB SSD isn't enough so optibay+HDD is the best option for me.

  • thx for the great video! it helped me a lot!

  • I should remove the batery before doing something like this..

  • Apparentely somebody was able to fit a 12.5" wd10tpvt . Did you see enough space to host something like that when you were assembling it?

Secondly, Did you try to hook the SuperDrive to a powered usb hub ? I think it should solve the port problem. Non-powered hubs suck anyway.

  • I don't think so since tey are attached to the same Buss

  • Is there a difference in speed from a HD in the normal slot and the optibay slot? I'm thinking of going hybrid by adding a SSD to go with my 500 gig HDD and I'm wondering if I should stick the SSD in the optibay or swap it with the HDD and put that in the optibay.

  • @VacantPsalm if you have a 6gbps SSD (crucial realssd, ocz vertex 3, intel 510 series) then you want to swap it with the HDD, since only that connector is 6gbps on the 2011 macbook pros. if your SSD is a 3gbps model, or you don't have a 2011 macbook pro, then it doesn't matter and it's up to you.

  • Why is it so expensive?!

  • Thanks a lot dude for making this video!

  • At 8:10 just letting you know copying and pasting is the same as dragging a file onto the drive. A "cancel" sign is shown which means you do not have permission to access the drive, this is probably because it is formatted as NTFS. Try going into disk utility and formatting it as HFS+ Jounraled.

  • @JPecsiProductions sorry, i meant "HFS+ Journaled"

  • Tokyo Train Station alert sounds. Nice. Me too. :)

  • Awesome , thanks

  • is this product for old MacBooks too? I'd like to have a 2nd HD cuz my ComboDrive is completely blind. The old MacBook has a IDE-connector (only the original HD is SATA).

  • Fantastic Vid! Just gonna do mine today and your vid helped out greatly!!

  • Thanks!

  • cool way to add another drive to a MacBook/Pro. Nice vid Steve!
