I was at this concert...was studying in Freiburg in the fall of 1987 and rented a car to drive up to see it...never thought I'd see it again over 20 years later. Great memories. Thanks for posting
I have been dying to see this again since I was 17 at my first Cure show. That concert was a highlight of my younger days. Can't wait for the Disintegration remaster in March!
Just as 'Century Flower' by Shellyan Orphan' will always remind me of the Disintegration tour this... has just sent shivers down my spine.... even though it's the first time I've heard it since 1987.
Saw all four (?) gigs on the UK leg
but when that screen suddenly dropped in Birmingham and they launched into 'The Kiss'... BAM! BAM! alll dressed in white shirts and looking like angels...
My God, that was unbelievably freaky, like a david lynch short movie! i can only imagine what the 1987 fairweather section of the audience made of it!
Unfortunately, no, I don't have any more of this concert, nor do I know if any recording of it exists. I don't know who recorded it. I got a hold of this by way of a guest user at a Cure forum I (used to) go to, who appeared and uploaded many, many, many Cure rarities; the YouSendIt links have since expired. I just missed them, but someone uploaded this video again, so I decided to share it in a more permanent manner.
SHONA825: Maybe you should take a moment to consider A) The availability of good camcorders and other bootlegging equipment etc. in the mid 1980s; B) The difficulty of getting a good one (probably large) into a show without pissing guards off; and C) The rarity of the projected video, this being pretty much the only known video recording of it available to fans today: a glimpse of over 20 years ago, before the band really really hit it big. Then think about why people might want to see this.
I know about the camcorders I bought one in 1987. It cost me $850 & that was from a friend. Please forget the negative vibe I sent. I must have been in a bad mood...
Oh, and definitely consider how dark a room has to be to project an image onto a screen without making it look all shitty and washed-out. There are plenty of reasons to want to see this video, whether it's nostalgia or merely a glimpse (all that's left) of what was before. Criticize constructively or piss off, you unappreciative dolt.
warhol-like but still original
