  • i thought people in canada say a

  • many do....just none in the part I am from!

  • Definately right I just found out is is April 3rd, 2009. But I will be watching the Canadian political system....

  • u sooo right i have paper due in the end of this week im trying to get any thing about canadian election 2008

only place to find info was cbc

the prom is ppl dont care our turnout was less then 50%

  • yep...a sad state of affairs! Voter apathy in Canada is a strong thang!

  • There is no curse in any of the languages I speak to express how I feel about Harper and his Conservative bitches. They are mindless fools. Right-wing idiots. Whoever voted for the Fascist Party are a bunch of morons as well.

After my degree, I'll try to run for MP. Independent.

  • america will follow 2 weeks later and will probably go the same direction as well. And Palin will be like our first canadian vice-president.

  • I'd just rather see the country in the hands of Jack Layton rather than Dion or Harper. Harper has already done enough wrong, and polls after the elections showed that Canadians were unhappy with him. The Liberals taxes were already too high, and the carbon tax idea only adds to the problem. I'd like to see Layton as our next prime minister because he seems like a professional man and I like the fact he agrees with P2P networking. Itd just be nice to see a new party in the house, w/ fresh ideas.

  • thank you for posting this man. i am a first time voter and wow is it ever hard to build an opinion over here. i can't seem to get any information on why any particular party is GOOD for the country. its all "Harper is Bush", "Dion is too risky", "Layton has a mustache"lol. so if anyone wants to answer or refer to a place i could get this information that would be great. thanks

  • katkatkat01- to decide who I may vote for if I was a Canadian citezin, though I do think the comparisons between Harper and Bush are unfair. Regards*

  • katkatkat01- suffered its worse losses since Korea but whilst these are all individual tragedies I don't think it should dictate foreign policy. When soldiers join an army they know there is a chance they will die and they bravely take that decision. But thats what war is. Pacifism is virtuous and utopian but unrealistic. I still think Afghanistan is a very different conflict from Iraq (which I strongly opposed) Although id like to be I don't know enough about Canadian politics cont...

  • Liberal, Conservative, NDP, Green, right, left, and centre are all the same. They all want to take your money or other people's and use it for their own agendas. I agree with the libertarians less government is better. Only individuals know their most urgent needs and can act upon them. The state restricts liberty and choices. I long for the day maybe someone will run for office promising less of the state rather than taking more from everyone.

  • You are so right but the problem is deeper than public oppionion. It seems to be one of the hardest things to researh platforms from the candidates. The US crap has taken alot of attention away from the Canadian election. Our system for our politics doesnt seem right, when there is no time limit for a candidate and you can call the election when your at the top of your game!! We need to somehow change some of these issues in terms of our process!! It might help the seriousness of elections

  • good point about educating people. I am in USA but always curious about Canada, there is barely nothing posted.

  • katkatkat01- likewise. Im a Brit. Considering Canada is a major global player, its unusual theres been very little coverage. Maybe the Global Financial Crisis and US election are overshadowing it. Perhaps Canadians are apathetic- they shouldn't be. Canada is a global player and it matters. I don't know much about Stephane Dion but I get the impression Harper has been divisive because of his Afghanistan stance. My view is Canada is a member of NATO and commited to that war. Canada has cont...

  • Canadians are finally getting clean of the idea we are hooked on gov't. spending. Liberals have tax the us to death and lost the money somehow. Conservatives are the only party giving my I said my money back. Communism does not work neither does ndp.

  • Harper's an idiot, and Dion's French. Layton 08!

  • I agree, Layton 08! But, saying that we shouldn't vote for Dion because he's "French", (what do you mean, French as in the fact that he holds a French passport, or French as in francophone-Canadian?) is exactly the kind of sentiment that polarizes franco-anglo division. I'm a former Calgarian living in Montreal, I speak both official languages, and the last thing I need is more anti-anglo sentiment in my life, (not that there is much, but there is some). Peace!

  • i agree with that guy. thats like not voting for obama because he is black. but curious to know, why layton? i honestly do not know one person who takes him seriously and i am interested what someone who does think he has to offer.

  • right on man, gonna make a response as soon as i get back to my house!

  • Sweet....do it!

  • Hey there "squarootfpi" you gonna be alright? Try to take it easy on the keyboard. We have some down to earth issues such as poverty, crappy wages and helping people live day to day at the moment.

I agree with you on the CBC, so let's work on some Canadian people issues first. You willing to help?

  • We are working on it. Trying to figure out how to get Canadian Vloggers on the YouTube Canada website.

Do you truly trust the CBC or CTV to give Canadians an real view of Canada?

  • This is pathetic. I had to do TWO YouTube searches just to find some Canuckys discussion anything about this election!

[i'm just working on my first vlog about this]

  • Vlog your ass off about it man! I'll have another one up soon...

  • I'm off to cover the election in my Hood. Don't know if I can get to the vlogging part until the big 3 day rush is over!

I DID do my little rant vlog for now, already:D

  • I have never voted PC in my 60 years. Been a Lib and NDP ..Kyoto? Glad Harper dump the garbage.Kyoto was base on Flawed and false science and should be put to rest.On the other hand Harper is using a Fiction (GW)as a vote getter and I can not support that behavior. Elizabeth Mayday? Forget it. Layton has seen to many David Suzuki alarmist scenarios. To many Clowns not enough circuses.

  • He did promise a fix date. But he also promise to govern. A Minority Gov has to depend on the participation/ Support from the Opposition. Harper did not get it and had no choice (IMO).

  • great vid!!!

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it:)

  • I agree. We need more Canadian voices on this topic. Too often all you'll come up with in a search is repostings of the partys' political ads. As if we don't see enough of those on TV!

  • I agree....that's why I posted this. Whether I agree or disagree with people posting vlogs about it...I'd just like to see some people's opinions! Not political ads...

  • hehe....not to confuse...i should have posted from this account! I'm BusanKevin as well! Again...thanks for posting!

  • Oh almost forgot. The homophobic Cons are against gay marriage.Bunch of pussies.

The thing that really stumps me is that Lorne Mayencourt is a gay running in Vancouver Centre for the CONSERVATIVES! The very assholes who are against gay marriage.

I cannot stand to be like the US. It eats me to see other countries progress in areas like environmental issues while we are stuck doing the same shit. Ever since Kyoto,France is generating nearly all of her power form nuclear energy. OK I'm done haha.

  • Wow! Take a breathe! hehe...good solid rant!

I'm certainly disappointed with Canada's complete lack of action on environmental issues as well.

    Thanks for posting your views...

  • good response, rough around the edges (i can be like that too) can't see why you'd get a thumbs down

could anyone image what a harper mmajority would be like.....

insantly, gay marriage and abortion illegal. harper dodged any question of abortion in the last election

  • I typed that stuff before I left for school so I guess I could have argued a little more clearly and effectively.

I agree with you; if Harper gets a majority, gay marriage and abortion is out. I wish an independent was PM so he/she doesn't have to follow the party's position like a lemming.

But I guess we'll see pretty soon.

  • (cont)

The ads the Conservatives bitches produce are hilarious. There's one here on the radio with people calling an "answering machine" saying that Dion wants to put a tax on an existing tax (carbon tax). "Dion just doesn't get BC." The guy sounds like a whining bitch. Kind of like myself haha.

I wish I can run for MP under independent. But then I would have like zero chance of becoming PM. But the chance of becoming PM is even lower if I live in Japan ^^

  • (cont)

I say hated because we will not follow through on our promise to lower our CO2 emissions. I believe we got sued by some non-profit company a little while ago. "Friends for Earth" or something is the name.

As you can tell, the environment is my biggest issue. A huge chunk, if not majority, of our power generation comes from hydro. Coal is next in line at like 28% or something. At the same time, renewable power (solar, wind, ect) counts for like 2%.

    cont.

  • Harper sucks. More likely than not, I'm going to vote for the Liberals. Now, I don't agree with everything thing they say, however, I do agree with Dion's environmental plan. Can you believe the Conservatives OPPOSE the Kyoto Protocol? They fear for the American companies here because the US has not ratified it, although they signed the protocol.

I fear if the Conservatives win a majority, we'll end up like the US, hated. cont..

  • Canada seems to gave its shit together better than does the States. Hence not as much to talk about. Americans are always arguing with each other, but it's hard to imagine Candians arguing or fighting with each other. What do Canadians argue about during election season anyways?

  • thats a dumb comment look at the liebrals they argue about stupid things. while harper is doing a good job being a PM. HARPER 08!!!

  • I don't think it was a dumb comment. What do you think are some of the major issues Canadians need to debate? In what way are the liberals doing stupid things? How are the Tories doing well?

Help inform those out there who may be wondering!

  • you want a list of things of what harper has done? This is harpers in his less then 2 years term as PM. He has lowerd GST from 7% to 5%, he introduce AIG grants for apprentenship giving people like me 1000 a year. he has given parents money for there children about 1200 a year.. he has made it clear that he wants to balance the budget. he has appolgized for the native indian miss treatment during our past history.

  • he has appologized for the head tax of chinese canadians. he will be pulling out of afagnistan in 2011. he received the international human rights award the first canadian & pm to get it. he has attened world summit for climate change and he has been active with his policy by introducing policies that lower hydro carbons and toxic emmisions.

  • while you have the librals introducing this stupid carbon tax that will take money of your wallet.

the NDP. whiniing about not having enough arts program..

and the green party with no seats in the house, thinks they can debate with tax payers money!

  • Well....you for sure have your views. I'd say make a vid about them and post it....you'll have a chance for more people to hear what you think!

    Thanks for posting.

    Kev

  • There are for sure a lot of things to debate with Canadian politics. Most of them just don't get any international press. Canada's mission in Afghanistan is a big red button topic..as well as others. We aren't as warm and fuzzy as many would think.

I suppose I was just making the point that Canadians who have a beef with the gov't or any other political party need to be more vocal. We Canadians tend to be too passive and just quietly whine about things we disagree with!
