i can relate in a similar way...however it is not fully the same. but i understand the cultural differences that they face. my husband is from kenya and i am from canada. i have taught myself to speak swahili over the last 4 years. even though he and i can both speak english the language of "culture" is beyond words. some things you just have to agree to disagree about. somethings may never be fully understood, but that is the part that i love the most!!

Am a kenyan male and I have to show my unfeigned deference for your perspective on inter-racial marriage. True, there are certain immutable things about the whole marriage in point of fact of cultural difference but it remains the most beautiful thing to ever have. That shared by two people of different backgrounds. You surely have a very open mind and think outside the box. Congratulations!!!!

I'm the child of one such mixed marriage (my mother is Scandinavian and my father is African), and I have to agree with both of you. It's a beautiful thing if you're able to overcome those cultural differences (which isn't always easy! Even twenty years into the marriage, both my mother and father are still sometimes surprised).
That being said, I don't think I'd have the guts to marry an African man - particularly one from the rural areas :D
