  • Buck's solo here (4:21) is my favorite guitar solo of all time, bar none. I've been to close to a dozen BÖC shows, but have never heard them play Astronomy live. The closest I came was when they took an audience vote to decide whether to play this or Then Came the Last Days of May. LDoM is great, but I'd kill to see this live.

  • Nice. Been a Cult fan since 1973. IMO, Astronomy has always been BOC's pinnacle. Reaper is great, but nowhere near as great. The Black & White era was magical. If they had been able to get the audio corrected on "Live 1976", I feel that would've been their greatest live version of Astronomy. Or had they put it on OYFOOYK. To me, Eric's pipes on that release were monstrous. To this day, no Cult fan knows why Astronomy was not on that album....

  • Seriously, this song is over 30 years old? That is just freaky. I guess they are part of the musical legacy from that period. Their sound just seems so contemporary...

  • i love the sound of your drums n i love the way you play the drums all smooth

  • great job

  • You gotta do Veteran of the Psychic Wars (live) next. I can envision you rocking through the main solo of that song. Great job on Astronomy by the way!

  • Hey my friend...I liked your play..! You just did fine on the plates too...! And you did choose a beautiful special music, one of the best rocks ever made...BÖC, Lucifer's Friend and Uriah Heep are all outstanding bands...

  • I know this band for some time but recently listen it. They're liking me and this song is beautiful

  • Saw em 20 times ... At their best 74 to 80.. They were with Rod and Faces ..REO Speedwagon for a bad ass tour back then.

  • By far, the best version of this song. The entire album was BOC at their best. I saw them in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1979? Don't laugh. That little stadium was standing room only, first come first serve rock concerts. Un believable. So disappointed in California concerts. Assigned seating - bouncer enforced. Also saw KISS, AC/DC, Van Halen, all of them just a mob at the stage. Those were the days.

  • Totally agree..I saw them in 79 as well, great shows back in the day.

  • I saw them a couple of years earlier,77 Hammersmith Odeon London,my first ever live concert, blew me away.

  • seen the cult in 76 ,zztop, bob seger, johny and edgar, point plank,100,000 people by noon turned into a free concert cal worthington and a lion in a cage,to much to list open floor. how bout cal jams calif, concerts are great.griffith park nights,

  • metallica plays the best version thats for sure !!!!

  • You re a idiot man. you dont know nothing about music

  • yea.. five thumbs up on this..hope ur using firth sticks LOL

  • can´t find the "black&blue" - video anywhere--it should be re-released on dvd!

  • This awesome song not just for it's time because it is just an amazing song even now!!!

  • this is the best version of the song. I got the some enchanted evening vinyl record in good condition a year ago for 98 cents. I say that was a good bargain the whole album sound so awesome. One thing is i didn't really like there studio album version of this song.

  • great playing best live version, its hard not to go nutz isnt it

  • I agree...the definate version of this BOC song from SOME ENCHANTED EVENING. BOC was my first ever concert in 1979. Brownsville (Station) was opener. Lazers broke down though.

  • big time drums!! :D I enjoyed it playing guitar as I was listening here

  • Excellent job to what arguably is the best available live recording to what I've always said is BOC's finest moment. Enjoyed it.

  • Nicely done; I'm not a fan of electronic drums but you had the right balance for the recording. 99% of drummers have a drastic tendency to speed up, your ability to maintain a consistent tempo matching the recording is commendable. Now, how about drumming along to 'Cities on Flame' from 'On Your Feet...'.

  • Thanks man...Yeah, I decided to approach this song in a layed back style and not over do it on the drums...could never do as well as Albert Bouchard so I just enjoyed the ride, got to love Astronomy by BOC.

  • I had an old friend this was our song, It brings goosebumps every time i hear this song. THANX

  • How did you add those extra cymbals??

I thought you could only add 1 more??

    Please let me know how!

    Thanks bro!

  • Hey...yeah I had extra cymbals so I bought some splitter cords at radio shack and ran 2 cymbals in same channel...it works.

  • Could you tell me which splitter cable you used?

I have the same kit but I don't know which cable to buy and which channel input to split.

Do you get different cymbal sounds for each cymbal??

  • Excellent once again, I bought this album when it came out, this was my favorite song from it. Thanks for bringing it back to me.

btw, I saw the "Black and Blue" tour.

  • You saw the black and blue tour? I would kill a hooker to see that, man it mustve been insane! Btw, you should run for president with that "experience" lol jking, but you are one lucky man!

  • But I seen uriha heep and boc in 1976 at the richfeild coll. From start to finish the place was filled with lazers. Spectac.. the microdot helped to....

  • Awesome... :)

  • Wow! All I got to do was see the concert film. I've seen BOC numerous times and Sabbath w/Ozzy but never seen Dio. I'm not worthy!

  • spectres knows what he is talking about, and the cult is one classy band.

  • hmm. I think this man knows how to to this work. And b.o.c was a good guide for metal music.

  • I just saw them about 6 months ago at an Indian Casino in Jackson California. Sat about 5 feet from the stage. Very surreal...I saw them numberous times back in the day.

  • One of the Best Guitar Solos...

  • ahhhh. .great job man. i know the tune note for note on guitar - Buck is my all-time favorite guitarist. .and this live cut along with live Last Days of May are my two favorites.

  • i would like to see him perform something.. to TOOL.. now that would be something instead of this simple 4 4 stuff

  • shut up, idiot!

  • tool is one of the most boring bands anyone could ever listen to.

  • Tool is for tools..enough said. This dumbshit doesn't understand how classic this song is. Fucking kids.

  • hey thats some pretty good drumming, ever thought of learning moby dick by led zeppelin. that would be sensational

  • From Some Enchanted Evening (recorded in Arkansas I believe?) Abso-tively the best recorded version of Astronomy- good job!

BOC was one of the most under-rated, and best, bands of the 70's; sadly their later/80's stuff wasn't quite as up-to-snuff (IMO.)

  • I'm now 48yrs and saw BOC in Manchester UK in 78or79 I never will forget.... awesome

  • Must have been the mirrors tour at the Apollo. I saw them a few weeks earlier too at Bingley Hall Stafford - awesome.

  • That's when I saw BOC was on their Mirrors tour.(1979)..good times.

  • great drums,congratulations man

  • Nice work Rim what kind of set is that? Al Bouchard is my drum teacher

  • You lucky dude...Al is one of my all time fav drummers....classic stuff. That's my old Roland td-3 expanded kit.

    Keep rockin!

  • Hellyeah!!

    great song,

    respect for your playing brother!

  • Now imagine Buck playing this solo in a pyramid of green laser light.

    Oh yeah, the 70's rocked.

  • What can you say about this song??? Its just one of the best rock songs ever, escpecially with the guitar solo. Better than 99% of so-called classic rock songs.

  • Yeah..Buck knows his way around a fretboard thats for sure. Thanks for the comments people.

    Rock on!

  • holy shit Rim great work dude.Btw wow what a solo by Buck..jezzzzz

  • damn, you are the man that me and my uncle needed to play the drums. All french drummer that I met sucked pretty bad, they cannot keep something simple and do it right.have you ever thought about moving to France ? lol..Good Job !

BTW: i jst wrote a song that I put on youtube, check it, its called ''il ne t'aime pas''

  • Great Job, I consider Astronomy on Imaginos just another great Blue Oyster Cult song!

  • Awesome song.. Like it better than the original B.O.C or the Metallica version. Good job on the drums.

  • Love the kit. I found one, but it's $5,000. Wish I had one.

  • I really didn't expect to watch that whole thing, to be honest, but it was great. I've been playing professionally since 1973, and the one thing I've never found is a drummer who understands subtlety and the importance of serving the song. Even the best ones I've played with tend to assault the song a little. Nice to see a true technician at work.

  • dude I got this album in 95 when I was like 12 and didn't like it, but when I started playing guitar four years later, I popped it in and f*ckin rocked out to this whole album, especially this song, pyaaaaaaaaaaa(agree, best version I have ever heard)

  • exceptional dude! I play this song live from time to time & know just how complex the licks are, great stuff!

Hehe I got my S.E.E from Tesco's of all places..

  • "Astronomy" is truly a great song, and you more than do it justice. I had the privilege of talking to Albert Bouchard at length a few years ago, and I mentioned that one of the biggest things that makes him irreplacable is that his playing always swings. When I hear Albert, I want to shake my ass. When I hear someone like Bobby Rondinelli play the same material, I usually just want to march around and invade Poland. :)

    Nicely done, man.

  • Bobbys got heart, just not his own style yet.

  • Hey...It's from 'Some Enchanted Evening' (live CD)...a little hard to find, I got mine on ebay, a good BOC CD.

  • you are pretty good man! keep it up! what album did you get this song from?
