  • watching clips of Tuareg people I find them to have various looks-some look tanned cacuasian, some actually many look fully negroid, and some look like a mixture of both.I am starting to believe Tuareg isn't actually a race but a culture. Most books say there are a Berber people putting them in caucasoid territory but many Tuaregs look fully black.

  • know where you come from is the foundation of wisdom and happiness...it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor..so long as you have people you can call intimately your own people...then you are your way to greatness...African americans in america are just a mix of several tribes...it's very rewarding to know your own tribe

  • I always wanted to know where my ancestors came from far as the tribe or village. Jus the connection to my original home before the kidnapping and bondage.

  • Beautiful video. African music is like the heartbeat of the world. It doesn't get any deeper.

  • Tuareg women have beautiful negro phenotypes. She does look like her ancestors. There is a very famous Tuareg couturier, he is very talented and well known internationally, his name is Alphadi and he is also from Niger.

  • OH MY GOD thats my grandpa at 7:36 in the left.

  • Antoinette,

This is very profound, to be able to say, "This is where I'm from. These are my people." Congratulations on reconnecting--for the moment: yourself, for the future: many others for whom the journey will bring empowerment and peace of mind. Have you started to learn Tuareg? (I speak some Hausa.)

Yau da gobe, ki iya! (Little by little, you can do it!)

  • alanheadbloom,

Thank you so much, the feeling of knowing who you are is just priceless, many Africans take for granted the knowledge of self. Those of us who were sold into slavery are still searching for our African Identity. No amount of money can replace that loss. Please hold on to who you are.

  • You r correct we africans do take it for granted and untill i started blogging on black american sites a few yrs ago i never gave it a second thought . it is very moving on the one hand but frustrating on the other hand as white america has brainswashed you all into believing that you all come from nothing so many of you black americans are in indenial or have the same attidutes of white americans towards our continent. African history is NOT TAUGHT in american schools so where do you build from

  • Cousin, I am so proud of you and all your acomplishments. The people of Niger ,Africa are beautiful and so are you!

    SF

  • Yes, you liik like you ancestors. I guess you can call them your brothers, sisters , and cousins.

  • i would like to do this one day,i am going to school for anthropology this winter,so hopefully this will add to my search, people ask me all the time,do i have ethiopian in my family,i don't know.but you see that's one of the many fallouts of slavery,we are mostly disconnected from our african heritage,an i think this is BEAUTIFUL i am totally moved, there is soo much more to us than american history,or what we were taught,it seems like you feel more whole from this experience.

  • Thank you kindly. I must say that it was a rewarding journey.

  • That was beautiful. You and the people of Niger definitely had some of the same features. That is a Blessing to have walked the soil of your Ancestors.
