After I ended a relationship I listened to this album and damn, later I read it was made when Roisin and her husband broke up... almost every lyrics in this album makes pefect sense in moments like this... and this one gets just too personal :(
The best song ever... it makes me feel all the emotions through the breakup.. In my opinion this song is about how people ending their relationship and how is so hard to move on. The best song of Moloko.
this is seriously the bet song ever!!!! i love this song because every time i listen to it i get a frog in my throat!! it addresses every situation i have been in that ends up breaking my heart because it is no longer what i want it to be!! its so sad yet so beautiful beyond any description !! i love love love moloko. They r like a vitamin to me!! their music should with out a doubt be a necessity to every human!!
I remember when the album was first released, me and a friend who was staying w/ me that week have put this song on repeat for 3-4 days and listened to it constantly whenever we were in. Which was a lot. Cried a lot to it, also. Couldn't get enuff of it, still can't, don't think I ever will.
Jebo te kakva pesma aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
It's nostalgic and sad and triumphant and defeatist all at the same time.
Almost as if it was written about a terrible tragedy at the moment the author made peace with it, and they still wanted everyone to recognize the pain of it, while also recognizing the ultimate resolution.
this isn't about anyone dying. its about a break up. In fact it's about Roisin Murphy's break up with Mark Brydon. The whole album tells a story about their relationship and break up.
the bells at the end, 9:00, 9:10, 9:20 and on, are somehow reminiscent of Silent Hill. Were they use there? There' this great clip of Silent Hill nurses dancing to the Ramalama Bang Bang somewhere too. :)
your kidding right? That 'atmosphere' is called trip hope hehe. Female vocals over trip hop music bed, Moloko is pretty awesome. I love Moloko and honestly get VERY bored by Radiohead (one of the most overrated bands of all time). Definitely nothing that I would say "Radiohead" created, what Radiohead did that was pretty unique was to play trip hop but have a whiney male singer over topic, instead of the usual 'sexy' trent reznor/tweaker/portishead etc. style. He whines/cries instead all emo :)
Last track on Moloko's last album... they couldn't have come up with a better finale than this. It is my favourite Moloko track. All in all, their music was often not my cup of tea, but there are a couple of tracks that are among the most beautiful I ever heard, and this is definitely one of them.
I have always thought there is something exceptionally magical and powerful about this song. Something that is very difficult to put into words, something that very few songs actually manage to convey. It's captivating, soulful, very dark and melancholic as well, yet so heartbreakingly beautiful. This is without a doubt one of those larger than life songs that will never lose their magic. Simply breathtaking.
It baffles me that most people only know that crappy remix of Sing It Back.
I love the fact people in the comments on this video notice and realize what a fucking epic story their music is. You can feel the changes in their relationship throughout the 4 albums... even though I didn't become a fan until after they broke up (Ruby Blue introduced me) I saved this song as the last one... it breaks my heart to hear the pain they went through. It's gorgeous. Best band ever.
It sems to be a heady mix of catharsis and retrospection. The background is rather interesting. She walked up to him at a party and said "Do you like my tight sweater? See how it fits my body!" Their first three albums came out while they were a couple and then they split up, forcing their fourth album to be rather different. They retained the song-writing and creative strategy, and 'Statues' is perhaps their best album to date. In my opinion truly magical. Remember to play it while reading...
