SWEEET! you got it m8, perfect, I dont use a Plectrum (Learned the Mark Knopfler way), just needed to ask, what strings are you using? If I bend mine that far they tend to snap.....I use Dean Markley's Lites, 009 for top/bottom E, depends if your talkin aboot guitar top or musical top, lol ..... but if I bend them that far I usually end up with it buried in my right arm , lol, please tell and Id be so happy.......cheers from a serious Gilmour/Knopfler fanatic............
not dissing Gilmour but why have his tone?...create your own tone!!You'll never get tired of that tone for sure and if you do you can always tweak it a bit.
thank your for just continuing to bend at 1:17.... people shortcut that and move up a whole step, and if you are playing a Gilmour solo note for note you had better have the intonation and strength to do that. way too many people shortcutting that, and it diminishes why Gilmour's touch was like 90% of the solo's difficulty.
@boonexy That 1.5 bend, which is a trick that David Gilmour made his own IMO, is probably what makes this solo for me. I've seen "tutorials" of people skip that bend too, and I just follow suit and skip their videos.
@ahchouch hi there, Jamie Humphries talks about getting the Gilmour sound in our 1st issue of Guitar Interactive Magazine. Will send you the link to the first issue of the magazine. Hope it helps with getting close to the Gilmour sound!
Wow, even I can play this solo better than this. Painting by numbers or what, even cuts off some notes early like they don't matter and the bends don't particularly flow. I wouldn't moan if this wasn't a special channel claiming to give lessons. If you're "teaching" this solo, in particular, it's all about the feel. This guy's stiff as a board.
The important thing is showing the notes. The lessons are great. The tone is not as good of a match as that used in your other lessons. There is too much distracting phase shifter which is not used in the original song.
@vaibanez17 Yea, It's a srcunchie. It's used to dampen the excess string noise during two hand tapping solos. It's abviuosly not being used here, because it would be slid down over the 1st or 2nd fret.

One small note correction: At the exact 1:30 mark, you should be playing an open E

One of the best solos ever done...
Funny how it's all in Pentatonics.

The only thing wrong with this was the slide at 1:01 where he plays 14 on the B and G and slides down DX its the best part of the solo!!!

@vaibanez17 I'm pretty sure it's used to dampen the strings to prevent excessive noise.
