@DaveGibbagglers look up the WGMS data yourself. You confuse these issues by cherry picking individual glaciers or by ignoring long term trends. The long term trends being that globally glaciers are losing mass as temps rise. Over the period 1946–2005, the WGMS have monitored 228 glaciers for mass data and over a thousand for length data, the vast majority of glaciers monitored showed mass loss. Less than 5% showed growth in mass. Try peer reviewed sceince not fox news and blogs.

These so called shrinking glaciers are a result of the amount of precipitation. If the temperature of the mass of the Earths atmosphere increases then humidity increases hence the glaciers grow. Astrophysicists do not make this mistake. You should check your sources.

I certainly do not have all the answers on GW simply because it is a complex problem and many (not only CO2) factors feed into this problem. To single out human made CO2 as the overriding factor is pre-emptive until other factors like the role of the sun, la- and el-nino impact on global temperature, the impact of sub-sea level volcanos (70% of all volcanos are below the surface of the sea), cosmic rays and simply the cyclical nature of GW over milenia are fully understood.

I look at it this way. If there is any chance of global warming being caused by us we should eliminate really stupid things that are still happening around the world like subsidising the use of non-renewable fuels. That is even happening in NZ.

Oil is a scare resource that will run out and the sooner the world faces up to higher oil prices and makes adjustments or substitutions for it the better. Brazil is perhaps leading the world.

well, when the ocean gets warm, it would melt the ice(lol, duh), and the sea level would increase. When that happens, some places would be buried under water...and not only that, it would also cause stronger storms, and the temperature would get warm. It would get kinda hot and it's not good.

Do this simple experiment. Fill a glass half full with cold water. Add as many ice cubes into the glass and mark the water level. Allow to stand and when all the ice has melted measure the water level again . There will be NO increase in the water level, which means if the entire north pole ice cap melts, sea level will not rise.

I was refering to the polar ice caps at the north pole - they float indeed. Regarding the melting of glaciers in antartica: That has nothing to do with global warming. The air temperature is permanently below zero and even if the temp once in a while do get above zero, the melting should start from the surface of the glacier. Because the glacier sits on land mass, no melting from the bottom can occur. The glaciers that do move, move under gravity and their own weight - nothing abnormal!

NASA should publish satellite pictures of what is important : the actual melting over the years.

They do have the data, they were told to hold it right there.
