  • i wish they'd also demonstrate how to make it... i find kinetic sculpture interesting...

  • Horrible Video Capturing and Editing...

  • Slightly creepy - but cool.

  • IT'S SO FUZZZY :O

  • O lord, it's wonderfull, incroyable, amazing.............

  • magneto liked this video 806 times.

  • is that a living cace or??

  • ferrofluidddddddd woot ftw

  • that looks like my morning cup of cofee your the one stealing it? i want it back >.> ahahaha crazy device they made nice and its not alien its humanoid thing:D

  • Alien technology I'd say.

  • sit on it and spin

  • lol chocolate foundue~

  • this isnt art, its art and the future of antigravity!

  • bellooooooooo.

  • Hey!!!Its that Spaceship from the movie "Knowing"

  • That is totallly amazing

  • amazing,is this or can this be used in industry maybe? really cool

  • YOURS IS THE DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!!!!!

  • And that, ladies and gentleman, is the awesome power of the spiral.

  • hey guys I am enrolled in an art program and we were put into groups and we made some ferrofluid sculptures for our class. I hosted the vids of the best ones on a website- ferrofluids.info

Check it out some of the projects and let me know what you guys think.

  • i couldn't agree more!!! interactive art is the future... :)

  • Fucking magnetic sculptures, how do they work?

And I don't want a scientist explaining it. They are known liars and anger me

  • WHERE CAN I BUY THIS?

  • i just got mind fucked..... and the worse thing is i didnt say no :S

  • a) how does it work

    b) how can i have it so i can get high and watch it do stuff.. for the rest of my life

  • 13 people have magnetophobia.

  • Anyone else saw robert patrick for a moment?

  • if i ever end up showering in ferrofluid, i'm just going to stand next to a giant magnet to dry off.......

  • magnets.... HOW THE FUCK DO THEY WORK!!!!!!!

  • Ferrofluid is weird shit man ...

  • This sculpture is so goffik with all those spikes maaaan =P

  • 13 people ate the Ferrofluid instead of using it like this.

  • It looks like tiramisù

  • I wish my penis can do that XD

  • MMMMmmmmm .. .trippy chocolate sauce ..

  • WTF IS THAT :| and how the hell is it doing that

  • @kevn101 it is a ferro fluid

it is most easily made out of laser print toner and oil

  • @xdazamx how is it moving and shit :| and making all those shapes... out of oil and printer crap :S Lol! so confused

  • @kevn101 well its still a liquid technically and move is what it does best :D

also the iron (Fe) partials are trying to align to the magnetic field

    that also explains the spikes

  • @xdazamx It's a hoax. You can't make ferrofluid from printer toner and oil. Toner is not magnetic, plus you also need a surfactant and other materials. Printer developer is magnetic but the particles are too big. Burning steel wool yields mostly particles which are too small. You need 10nm iron oxide particles ideally. It's actually hard to make professional-looking ferrofluid in your kitchen. It's probably easier to just buy commercial grade ferrofluid.

  • @tenkosami sorry but I've made it just using them materials and it has worked perfectly; also how you see here.

btw the laser printer toner is in powder form :. when mixed with the motor oil, it suspended by the oil but is still effected by a magnetic field.

I'm also aware it's not the conventional way to make it too,

but considering the conventional way of making it usually involves Oleic acid etc.

it's the easiest way & probably cheapest way to make it.

  • @tenkosami google 'how to make ferrofluid'. I am going to try it, and I will see if i can do it. Have you tried to make it through this method you claim doesnt work?

  • @roadkill1001 I have to admit that I sent the package of toner back to the company without trying it as ferrofluid. I did so because I could not get a refund if I opened the box. However, you still need a surfactant to make ferrofluid. You cannot make it simply with magnetic particles and oil. A surfactant must be used to bind those two particles together. Does the "hoax" method require you to use a surfactant, or does it just tell you to mix oil and iron?

  • looks tasty

  • Ferrofluid you say. I wounder about its elemental composition and about the strenght and size of the magnet used and what different qualitys different shaped magnets have on the fluid. I also want to know more about the other devices utilizing this liquid.

  • Easy you have two solid drill bit kinda tips with a pattern that allows the liquid to travel up the spiral. the rest is just plain ol ferro fluid you can buy a kit for like 25 bucks. the magnets underneath they dont never show but its just a magnet under the clear bowl. the solid objects or drill bits makes it appear to become solid but its not. looks cool though :)

  • i want one so dark but charming

  • can you toutch it ??

  • @rini12309 probably not in a museum, but its what, basically oil and ink I believe..

  • nope, very fine iron filings, so fine it behaves as if it is actually dissolved in what usually is motor oil as it already is made to stick to metal(cylinders) and keep them from oxidizing.

  • imagine that drilling ur ass!

  • @memokk you have issues...

  • chocolat chia

  • This spiral hipnotized me!

  • I want some!

  • Physics are awesome..

  • GIGA DRILL BREAKER!

  • The vibration of music, or something, have any influence on this or just magnets?

  • very interesting indeed...

It so much reminds me of how a woman changes her mind with out ryhme or reason...

  • this is the trippiest stuff ever

  • ...this is beautiful lol well to fucked

  • i like chocolate fondue and i like this video ;)

  • Omg!! that thing is ALIVE!!! xP

  • It has a brain !

  • Comment removed

  • what the heck is that, i don understand anything whats happening there..someone could xplain plz.

  • @manjuavarr007

I think it's just some ferrofluid and electromagnets. Still really cool.

  • Dont even tell me how its made! thats the cool thing about it, i dont know what the FUCK it is!!

  • Just amazing!

  • My god thats alot of mercury

  • @HeyLoliGirl No mercury....just ferrofluid (tiny magnetic particles-like Iron- suspended in an oily liquid) . A variable magnetic feild is what makes it dance around in little spikes.

  • @frankensteinmoneymac Oh thanks for the explaination

  • i wanna squeeze it ..... good vid

  • Q MIERDA ES ESO

  • So much beauty; I feel like I can't take it.

  • nice fera fluide show

  • looks like it came right out of a sci-fi movie. this thing is just mind blowing.

  • i almost just cried

  • i never understand how does it works

  • very cool use of technology blending into art. i absolutely love it. ;)

  • wow

  • awe..

  • i wanna eat it...

  • @TheDeanmoz why :P ?

  • @TheDeanmoz LOL, I thought I was the only one who had an overwhelming urge to eat it. XD

  • Thats crazily kool...amazing..

  • pretty cool!

  • quuuu eeees estooo... que alguien me explique...!

  • you learn something knew today

  • venom and carnage are made from this

  • Isn't life amazing? There are so many interesting things to be discovered.

  • Win

  • That was one of the most amazing things i have ever witnessed. Ever i need to get out more, or this generaly is AWESOME.

  • why am i not physics/chemistry scientist.

  • that is the perfect example of the ugly turning beautiful

  • so creepy at some points

  • amazing

  • This is devine wisdom

  • you can make such liquid with color toner for printers and vegetable oil

  • This is simply amazing. I wish I could see it in person cause watching it in a video kind of weakens the effect. Also does anyone know what the liquid is? I mean what metal did they suspend in it?

  • @qulqunick Iron oxide suspended in oil with the aid of a surfactant.

  • @qulqunick its called ferro liquid =]

  • @JohnnyX50 ferro fluid (selfpwn)

  • omg that's wonderful

  • Alien? You are alien.

  • That is so alien. Awsome.

  • Sooo Cooool

  • I have on several occasions touched the spikes which promtly led to me packing a fortified serving suggestion of trying to eat what was photographed on the front of the box that a frozen dinner came in so in essence magazine there are never caucasions which in and of itself is a blasphomous statement of epic proportions to which I highly regard the false pretensis of which denied rights are common and my bail is set at $42.78 which is basically the going rate of coal in its raw form.

  • @MightySaturn5 Cool story bro

  • @tenkosami ..thank you ten

  • @MightySaturn5 what?

  • CREEPY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want to touch the spikes, but it looks slightly disturbing...

  • its actually perfectly safe to touch the spikes. all it is is ferro fluid. you can make it with printer ink and vegitable oil

  • i want to touch the spikes !

  • @caspargrindcore you must be from the US

  • @mucbeanz you must be from france or canada

  • @thestout77 you must be from the nutfarm.

  • ferro fluid, easy to make... 50 ml of ink toner and 2 tbs of 100% vegetable oil. and of course a magnet.

  • @poketrainer1001 you got that from kipkays video :)

  • i think i just had a mind orgasm =.=

  • @abbizoh <.<...get a girl dude... xD

  • I WANT ONE!

  • wtf is it??

  • ferro fluid

  • oh i see the spire is metal charged with an electro magnet for control. the ferro fluid is reacting to the magnetic movement i n the spire

  • 4:54 - paperclips aren't ferrous ....

  • i think i had an epiphany looking at that.. O.O

  • that is beautiful its hypnotic.

  • Honestly...how do you do something like that!?

  • the black liquid is called ferrofluid which contains metal powder. Place a magnet nearby and stuff like this happens

  • Is that it? Wooow. Thanks for info, really helped!

  • fantastic! AWESOME!

  • X-FILES ALIEN SPECIES!

  • Fascinating shit.

  • they need to just record this live and like make it a tv show or something, because I could literally watch this for HOURS and not get bored...

  • I agree!

    This is so amazing!

  • This is truly a breath taking piece of art

  • MAgnetic fields FTW... i love seeing the lines of magnetism everything has em and you can imagine how electricity functions a little better looking at this

  • So awesome

  • wtf is that?

  • omg what's going on? is that liquid? how come they look like spikes?

  • it's a fluid that has magnetic particles dissolved in it, so it shapes itself according to external magnetic fields

  • i still don't understand 4-d :)

  • incredible, thanks for posting!

  • where's BILL NYE when you need him!

  • what happens if you touch it??

  • You might die!

  • my guess would be nothing.. unless its very shard.. but this is a metal(magnetic one) but i dont think it can get that sharp

  • Your hand will get dirty. But besides that not to much else will happen to you.

  • 3:37 is where it gets cool :P

  • this is pretty cool : D

  • when you check this out, remember not to forget a neodymium magnet in your pocket, or you'll have a little mess

  • I wonder how expensive one of those sculptures would be to make.

  • this is one of the things to witness that makes you think humanity still has a real chance.

  • how the fuck did you get to that? "when i look at a tree it makes me feel like i need to become a hindu" - makes little sense? SO DO YOU

    i hope you were joking

  • science is god!

  • 10 out of 10 simple inspired.

  • what is it doing?

  • Art

  • Enjoyed it - thank you. Great music too.

  • wrong!

  • and whats art in ur eyes, a bit weird painting on a white paper ? totally not simple eh?

  • Amazing!

  • thats crazy...love it!

  • y all comments have negative qualification?

  • I agree? who the heck is doing this??

  • how does the liquid keep pointed if its already stuck to the object?

  • Science

  • Magnetic fields, the liquid is ferrofluid (great stuff)

  • Its beautiful.

But how can i make one myself?

Is it just an electormagnet and ferrofluid?

And just, increase and decrease the voltage to make it move? Or is it more to it than that?

  • goergeous

  • umm im pretty sure ive seen this in most of the games ive played lol.

  • Maybe, but this is real life

  • i know I'm just saying it looks that awesome...in real life.

  • Art? Science? Technology and nature do not art make. This is "purty" and interesting. So was the the lava lamp. Just ain't got no soul. Art must engage more than the mind.Art which isn't based on feeling isn't an art at all... feeling is the principle, the beginning and the end; craft, objective, technique - all these are in the middle. - Paul Cezanne
