As long as mp4 works fine it's ok for me since I only use mp4. I usually download videos from YouTube with tubemate. MKV is certainly a lot heavier than mp4, but I'm surprised it supports MKV.

If you don't like watching 24fps HD movies at around 10fps, then you'll hate this phone. What is better? Watching 720p/1080p videos at 10fps at 720p resolution, or watching the same video on a 800x480 screen at buttery smooth 24fps? 99% of the people would choose the latter because of how small these pixels are already. Every Galaxy S2 phone can do 1080p video at 24 or 30fps without breaking a sweat. Galaxy Nexus does it poorly. Good job Samsung for making a HD phone that can't play HD movies.

@Lucidmike78 The only issue is playing mkv files. It you were to convert or buy HD movies from the market, they play seamlessly. I've been watching HD movies on my nexus for the longest and have yet to have an issue. Good job on your non 720p display phone

MX Player plays every thing and also has HW Acceleration and options to change sound tracks. It can play full 1080p MKV files. I tested before and has no lag

use diceplayer from the Market. It's the only one which support hardware acceleration so far. It should run pretty smooth with it
